Gamestop Big Picture: Technical Recap - 1/25 - 1/29

Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor. This entire post represents my personal views and opinions, and should not be taken as financial advice (or advice of any kind whatsoever). I encourage you to do your own research, take anything I write with a grain of salt, and hold me accountable for any mistakes you may catch. Also, full disclosure, I hold a net long position in GME, but my cost basis is very low, and I'm using money I can absolutely lose. My capital at risk and tolerance for risk generally is likely substantially different than yours.
Wow, what a week. All I'll say on that for now. I'll maybe do a recap of Friday at some point this weekend if I can.
For this post, rather than a narrative recap, I'll go into some very light technical analysis on a couple of screenshots from TD Ameritrade Thinkorswim and Ortex. I don't have a lot of time to go very deep into everything I normally do, but I wanted to give the newer traders an example of how I go about coming to some of my conclusions.
Some of the conclusions I came to in the heat of the moment in my previous posts may also not stand up to more rigorous scrutiny of the data. In my opinion, at least, it's very important to ensure that you go back and review any of your high conviction trades from time to time. Please feel free to use the charts I'll show to challenge some of the assumptions I may have made and written about while watching the live ticker tape action, social media, and other high-frequency sentiment indicators (things I might rely on for a hyper-realtime momentum monster trade like GME has been this past week). Maybe use them to challenge your own thoughts and assumptions as well.
I realized while doing this that writing those prior articles probably cost me ~$300k in momentum trade opportunity LOL, since I used all of my free non-trading hour time to write instead of do an even more in-depth version of what I'm going to show you now. That being said, if that writing helped any of you understand what was going on, and ultimately progress on your way to becoming better traders and investors, that to me is well worth it--maybe one day you too can pay it forward!
If any of you reading this are chart jockeys, please share some tips if you have them.

Fundamentals - Ortex Short Interest

First, lots of questions on the prior post about Short Interest remaining on GME so I'll start with this one. Looks good to me. I think Ortex will update end of trading Friday data just before/around Monday market open. I consider this chart to convey mostly fundamental data, as the underlying value thesis behind the recent push by retail traders has at least recently been about the squeeze. This is the type of data you'd use to try to analyze data about the security being traded. Note that most pro traders would not consider short interest to be a 'fundamental ' attribute, and normally I'd agree, but I think GME and maybe some of the other high SI plays are an exception to that.
If any of you are inclined to feel jumpy about the diving lines on the chart, make sure to look at the axis values on the left. The chart is calibrated to capture the movement over the period, so the bottom of the axes are not 0.
A few things to note:
  1. Short interest drops substantially from 1/26 into 1/27
  2. Volume is shrinking
  3. Remaining free float on loan has gone down, but at 66% as of Thursday, is still quite high

Overview - Daily Chart & Summary of the Week

A few things going on here
  1. The big volume days on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday are when it seems to me that the greatest retail momentum would have occurred. The battles were pretty intense at key price points if you take a closer look at those intra-day charts.
  2. Big picture here, what it tells me is that many if not most of the retail share volume was acquired at or below $148 on huge volume. That means the core of your retail support, and the majority of shares in WSB diamond hands would have been bought probably between the $30 and $148 price range. My guess is that Only DFV the DFV early acolytes, Dr. Burry, and the institutional holders have meaningful volume below $30.
  3. Given points 1 and 2, I'd consider the $148 price level as the critical defense level of your earliest, hardest retail support. You can dive deeper into the 1/26 trading day and possibly make a case for other levels as well, but I'll roll with that for now.
  4. Ok, so maybe the Melvin guys weren't really lying. The Ortex data showing short interest drop from 1/26 to 1/27 coinciding with the massive and sudden price dislocation upward on 1/27.
  5. If new shorts entered the game it would have been near the highs, possibly selling into the forced buying of what I'll just assume was the overnight Melvin squeeze and into the early market hours on 1/28. Possibly aggressive momentum shorting on top of the Robin Hood BS, the bots, and the networking issues came together in a perfect storm with that HFT ladder attack on the vertical dive. Wow--no wonder that thing was so intense.
  6. As you can see on that downside wick on 1/28, the huge momentum briefly pierced the Retail line before being slammed back up. We'll take a closer look in the fibonacci chart.

Analysis - Mini Squeeze Hourly

Just a few notes. I checked and the after hours volume here was sudden, quite unusual, and pretty consistent with a forced liquidation of a substantial position. Rather than slamming it all out at once, the broker spread it out quite a bit. Some takeaways:
  1. If you wanted to take money from Melvin, this was the chance, and a lot of people (or a few whales) certainly did. The numbers in my summary were very quick mental math of the hourly volumes in overnight trading
  2. The price didn't break away as aggressively as it probably could have, which means there was some carefully calibrated pre-planning to unload a bunch of shares, laddering up to the $350 level.
  3. I am genuinely sorry to have to conclude, therefore, that the WSB bros with the $420.00 limit got scooped. Something on the order of 17 million shares worth of Melvin dollars got cashed out under them by a HFT whale with access to firehose shares at Melvin's broker all the way through overnight trading. few retail even have the ability to trade for that entire window, and certainly not on the order of 17 million shares anyway.
  4. Another important takeaway: 17 million shares is a lot, but it's nowhere near the entire original SI in GME. The Game hasn't necessarily Stopped yet (heh).

Technical Analysis - 1/28 to 1/29 Fibonacci Retracement

For those of you who are unfamiliar with what traders call "technical analysis", it's really just a fancy set of words to say looking at squiggly lines, bars, etc. on charts to try to figure out what's going on.
One particularly popular tool is called a fibonacci retracement. It sounds a lot fancier than it is, but it is extremely useful, and extremely commonly used by momentum traders (which is partly why it's useful--if everyone is trading off of the same thing, it's a self-reinforcing bias in the market). There is a lot of background reading you can do on the topic--I recommend it. You'll be a better trader and even investor for it, as it tends to be useful even on longer timeframe charts. Kind of uncanny really.
Looking at this chart I realize I probably should have plotted the 'retail line of defense' here too. Oh well, maybe next time.
Takeaways:
  1. I figured the relevant trading range going forward was peak euphoria to peak despair in regular trading on relatively good volume. That happened to be the top to bottom move on the Robin Hood news.
  2. Using that for the fibonacci retracement, you can see how much of the trading action bounces around between the various levels before settling in scarily accurately into the 50% - 61.8% channel in after hours trading.
  3. it's quite possible that short-term equilibrium on this battleground stock is $300 to $350 until either side makes a strong push. Price was trapped in that range toward the end of normal trading on relatively good volume.
  4. Probably a bunch of momentum traders drew exactly this retracement (or something very similar) for their rest of day trading after the floor got put in near the retail line of defense. In all honesty it's hard to say if the tool works because of some fundamental reason or because everyone uses it so everyone times their momentum plays off the same playbook, making it self-reinforcing. All that matters in the end is that it works pretty consistently once you get used to working with it.
  5. Below the price graph, pay attention to the volume bars below. It's especially critical when trading momentum to understand the relationship between share volume and price, as there are patterns that are more likely to play out depending on the relationship. For example, when price is moving around a lot, is it doing so on high volume or not much volume?
  6. Traders tend to overshoot a little on each push, so even if price ultimately drops lower after an upside spike, if the volume on that drop is low compared to the upward push, that actually tells you that it's likely to go higher a little later on. There are many sites that go more in depth into this kind of thing (patterns, volume and price analysis, etc.), and it is incredibly useful to try to understand what to take away from price and volume movement as you watch it unfold live.
Lots more going on here, but this post is getting pretty long already.

Other Takeaways

There are other things you can take away, or theses you can come up with from these and other charts you may have access to. Hopefully, for you newer traders I've given you a useful glimpse into how I might try to use readily available data to improve/challenge/refine a working thesis to ensure I'm better prepared for the days ahead. You should find the tools that seem to work best for you.

Nintendo successfully found a way to evolve the 2D classics without going open world, and the result is one of the most consistently fresh and enjoyable games around, which, despite lacking the challenge of the NES games, has something for just about everyone. The bonus Bowser's Fury solo adventure is an absolute delight with a brilliant core idea that adds a crazy tension to Mario platforming, but it is hard to present a case for purchasing this pack just to play it. Whilst full of great content, it is too short-lived to feel worth the asking price, and really needs a standalone purchase option. When taking both games into account for those that have not played the original Wii U title, though, this is a cracking bundle of Mario goodness that encapsulates what everyone knows and still loves about the moustachioed hero after an enduring thirty-five years.

Bowser's Fury offers some great new ideas and is much more than a simple DLC. It's a great Mario game in its own right, with enough to entice those who played 3D World before with a wholly new and compelling experience, as well as offering one of the most epic showdowns in Nintendo history.
Bowser's Fury is a great take on 3D Mario and finally makes Bowser the menacing villain he deserves to be. The game's only flaw is that it left me wishing there was more of it.

This takes place near the very beginning of my software engineering career, back in '05 or '06. I'd just been let go from my previous place of employment due to be being compliant with directives I'd been given (although not maliciously, so that story wouldn't be appropriate here, sadly), and thus working myself out of a job. I was a young college dropout from a technical college that hadn't been federally accredited yet, and thus all my student loans were from banks and loan companies instead of from Uncle Sam, and debts were due. I was also making payments on my very first car, even though it was a beater that the prior owners had already nearly driven into the ground (4 years old and nearly 200k miles on it when I bought it), and of course, rent and utitlities. The job I'd just been let go from already had me working paycheck to paycheck as they paid far under average rate, but I was still new professional so I couldn't be very choosy. I was living in Los Angeles county, so the cost of living was so bad, I was having to choose which bills were going to be late on a monthly basis. Specifically, I was living in a town called San Pedro, a small town tucked fairly out of the way.
After blasting my resume to all the job boards, I get a call from a startup who seems interested in my resume and wants me to come in for a face-to-face interview (skipping the call-screen entirely). In my desperation, I agree. I'm given an address, which is all the way up in Woodland Hills. I check the internet... 55 minute drive so long as there's no traffic. With traffic it looks like the commute will be more like an hour and forty-five minutes... each way. I'm desperate though, and literally nobody else has reached out to me about my resume or responded to my applications, so I go to the interview. I arrive to an mostly empty office complex. Maybe 6 or 7 other cars in a parking lot capable of holding at least 50. I go into the building mentioned in the address, and call the phone number I was given to let them know I've arrived. Enter Chad. Chad comes to meet me, and seems excited that I've come! He escorts me through the building to an office. Mind you, as far as I can see, we're the only two humans in the building. He gives me the pitch for the company, tells me he built the software being sold, but it's not scalable, and needs someone who can rewrite it. After we go through the whole interview song and dance, he offers me the job on the spot. The pay is marginally higher than the last gig, so I figure gas would be covered for the commute. I agree, and we shake hands, as I'm going to be starting the next Monday.
Red flags start appearing from the very first minute I arrive on monday. First, I'm given a tour, which consists of the 14x14 foot office I'm going to be sharing with Chad, as well as another engineer who's going to be starting the following monday. I'm not a fan of having someone able to look over my shoulder, it makes me nervous. I ask why each engineer's desk has two computers. "Because the one you will be writing code on doesn't have internet access, for security purposes." (Note: this was pure paranoia. There was nothing about this software that required such tight security, we weren't doing any gov't contracts or anything of the sort.) Then, I'm escorted clear across the building, to meet with the CEO (Richard), the IT guy (Eddie), and the sales/support team. I'm told that half of the team is supporting the existing version of the application, 2 people are selling the existing version to new clients (or trying to), and one person is explicitly tasked with selling the new version. The one I haven't even started on yet. I'm still young and dumb at this point, but even I know this means the salesperson is probably giving out a date when the customer should expect their purchase to be filled. "It's a good thing you started when we did, we've been telling customers it'll be ready in June." Did I mention all this was happening in February? Apparently I've agreed to rewrite, test, and package an entire application I've never seen before in approximately four months. So, tour being done, I sit down and get to work. After jumping through a bunch of hoops of getting the software I prefer downloaded onto the actual work machine, as well as the code, I set about reviewing code so horrific I've not seen its like since, and there isn't a single comment in the entire thing. Before I can ask a single question of the CTO however, he tells me he's headed to downtown LA to scalp his tickets to the Lakers game, and that he'll see me tomorrow. So... now I'm alone in the office with this abomination, a machine that's been hamstrung to heck and back, and the only thing I've got to console me is the fact that at least I'm employed again.
Fast-forward a week, I've documented the bulk of the code (because there wasn't any), and the boss and I do not get along. He's mad because I've not written any substantial code, and I'm frustrated because I'm trying to understand a lot of what specific code is trying to do and he's routinely leaving around noon to go sell his tickets for Laker's games, or just not in the office because he's chatting with someone else. When he is in the office, I show him my documentation, and try to get him to verify it or describe the purpose of code where all I can say is "Wat?" By the end of the week, I've covered about 30% of the project in a wiki-like document, and I've taken to leaving after sunset so I can a) get more done, b) have a shorter commute, and c) drive when my car isn't an oven (the ac didn't work). I've barely managed to convince the CTO that what I'm doing is necessary so the engineer starting the next monday doesn't have to do anywhere near the same crap I've got, which would make us a more efficient team.
Monday arrives, and in comes Big Bro. I call him this because he was a much more experienced engineer than I was. We spend the first day with him getting set up, then us reviewing what I've documented. He manages to answer some questions the CTO never did, just because he is that much better, and I start to feel more confident. Over the next weeks, Big Bro took me under his wing as an engineer teaching me best practices, standards, and where my plans were good and where they could be better. If it hadn't been for him, I'd have gone insane! I end up joining him outside for smoke breaks even though I don't smoke, just so I can get a breath of non-office air. He and I discuss the project, and we also make friends with Eddie, who makes us laugh by telling us horror stories about the CTO and CEO (apparently he was a school *friend* of theirs and basically worked with them because they paid him to do something he felt was super easy).
April rolls around. I've got a special occasion I need the day off for, which happens to be a Wednesday that year. I'd advised him when I first started and he'd been cool with it. I remind him on April 2nd (since I had an irrational fear of policy decisions being made on April Fool's Day), and he loses it. He goes off on a rant, and straight up informs me that he regrets hiring me, claiming I didn't have the skills I told him I did, and wasn't worth what I was being paid. We're definitely not half-way done (more like one third), and it's already been decided that June is a lost cause and that we're shooting for August now. That habit I started before, of leaving after the sun went down? Yeah, that never stopped. I was arriving at 9am every day, and leaving around 10pm every night, trying my best. Big bro was the same, and Eddie would stay late with us just because we liked hanging out together. So, it should be understandable that I was very close to losing it right back at him. In a strained, yet diplomatic voice, I told him that if he put in the same amount of work to help us as we put in to rewrite *his* code, we'd probably be a lot closer to done than we were, especially given the twelve hour days. He was not a fan of that, and switched to straight up yelling, blaming us for the lost sales and refunds due to the delays, and that the only way he'd get off our backs was by getting the project done. This entire time Big Bro is just sitting there, and says nothing to back me up. Chad then left the office for a bit, and I just declared I was taking my lunch and would be back in an hour. I felt frustrated by Chad and betrayed by Big Bro, who I felt (rightly or not) should have had my back since we were in the same boat.
When we were both back in the office, he apologized for yelling and told me that since he agreed when I was hired I could have my day off. Cool. I apologized too, although not for anything specific. I just didn't want to talk to him anymore and figured that was the fastest way to end the conversation.
Fast forward to June, and the opportunity for Malicious Compliance. Over the last two months, Chad has been getting worse and worse. He's yelling nearly every day (and still leaving early too). Big Bro and Eddie are also feeling the pain, nobody is safe from his ego. The smoke breaks and afternoon/evening portion of our day are when we're most productive, as nobody can focus until Chad leaves. The first monday in June rolls around and Chad invites me to go on a walk outside for a 1-on-1 meeting. I figured I'm being fired (at this point we've had to refactor the rewrite almost entirely due to missing a critical chunk of functionality, and we're still only 60% done. August release is looking less and less sure). Chad informs me that he's hired a 3rd engineer, but in order to stay in the budget to pay him, he's cutting my salary in half. I stop on the spot and just give him a blank look.
"Are you serious?" I ask. "I'm barely able to pay for my bills and the gas required to commute here as it is. If you cut my salary at all, I won't be able to afford to live." At this point the idea of cutting my productivity to help ramp up a new engineer so he can help us meet the deadline doesn't even occur to me, although in hindsight that would have also been a pretty major issue.
Chad brushes me off. "That's not my problem. The fact that you missed one deadline and look like you're gonna miss another is. If you've got a problem with that, you're more than welcome to go find another job. The new guy starts in two weeks." And with that he walks inside. I'd just been told that I had two weeks left of job at my current salary. Cool. So that day I do something I hadn't done since I first started. I left while the sun was still up. (Specifically, I left at 5pm). I drive my oven-car (no working Air Conditioning in a car that had been left in the sun all day in Woodland Hills had me feeling like a baked potato) through traffic (hour and a half-commute home through LA heat), and updated my resume before reactivating my accounts on all the job sites. I'm contacted the next day by a potential new employer, and I get an interview scheduled. I decide to tell Big Bro about the new opportunity, and he hits me with news that lets me know just how small a world we live in.
Me: "Hey, Big Bro, just fyi I've started looking for a new job. I've already got an interview lined up."
Big Bro: "Really? Where?"
Me: "Over at "
Big Bro: "Wow! That's where I worked before I came here! That place is pretty awesome, and I left there on pretty good terms. I know the CTO there, go ahead and use me as a reference!"
Me, skeptical: "Really? Okay...."
Turns out Big Bro was true to his word, and the CTO and I even talked about Big Bro during the interview. Apparently they'd already talked about me, and Big Bro had been the ultimate hype man, confirming everything I said about why I was looking for a new job and everything. All goes well, and I'm electronically signing an offer-letter that Friday afternoon (Chad had already left for the day, so there was nobody to look over my shoulder as I used the work computer that *had* internet access to get this done). At the new Job, the commute is cut by more than half, and comes with a pretty significant raise. I tell Big Bro and Eddie on the last smoke break (I still don't smoke) that I'm done, and I've found something new. Oddly enough, they both smile and just wish me luck. "No hard feelings, hope we stay in touch!" Odd, but I'd stopped really caring about anything related to that job, so I paid it no mind. I went back inside, packed up my stuff into my backpack, and walked to the CEO's office.
Me: "Hey Richard, got a minute?"
Richard: "Hey OP, what's up?"
Me: "Just wanted to let you know I found a new job, so I'm moving on."
Richard: "Really, why? We need you!"
Me: "You guys decided it was cool to cut my salary to a point where I couldn't afford to live. Chad said if I didn't like it, I should look for something new, so I did."
Richard, looking defeated: "Well, when's your last day?"
Me: "Today."
Richard, now pissed: "We need you here to train the new guy who starts soon!"
Me: "Hey, I had to train myself and to an extent, Big Bro when he first started. The new guy should be able to as well."
And with that, I left for greener pastures.
The unexpectedly *huge* fallout:
Four months later, Big Bro texts me to ask me how things are going. I tell him things are great, and we schedule a lunchtime call because apparently things have gone sideways in a huge way.
Part 1) Apparently Chad came in on Monday almost violently angry, and demands Eddie re-image my work machine first thing in the morning, which erases everything I'd left on there.Big Bro comes in an hour later, and he and Chad discuss the new timeline for the project. Somewhere in there apparently Big Bro asks Chad to log into the admin account on my old work machine so he can pull the documents I'd accumulated about the planned architecture, the existing code, meeting notes, etc. Chad answers by apparently punching a hole in the wall, and leaving for the day (probably to go to the hospital to deal with his hand), at 10:30 in the morning. Big Bro then spends the rest of that week ostensibly working on recreating the documentation from scratch.
Part 2) When I asked how the new guy handled the new documentation, Big Bro laughed and told me there never was any documentation. Apparently he and Eddie had become really good friends in the months we worked there, to the point where they'd become roommates about a month before I left. More than that though, they'd decided to start a freelance/consulting business together and only had to decide on when to make that their full time jobs. Neither of them liked Chad much, and wanted to make their departure hurt as much as possible. So, they decide to make Big Bro's last day the day before the new guy starts, and Eddie would quit shortly afterward, sticking around just long enough to watch the bomb go off. Did I mention Big Bro never told Chad he was quitting? Yeah. He just didn't show up that Monday. He had, however, emailed that 'documentation' he'd spent a week writing to Chad. Turns out he wasn't documenting the code at all. He'd spent a week writing a letter explaining in excruciating detail why Chad was such a bad boss, and he'd emailed it to everyone in the company. I asked if he still had it so I could read it, and he sent it to me after the call.
Thankfully, like the big helper he was, Eddie had ensured that the new guy's email was set up and in the proper groups before the email was sent, so the guys first email in the company was a novella about the kind of person he' agreed to work for. Apparently Chad thought it was appropriate to take his frustration out on the new guy, who'd already read a significant portion of the email before Chad shoved him away from his desk and deleted it. Apparently new guy promptly decided (and rightfully so) that agreeing to work for Chad had been a mistake, packed up his things, and quit on the spot.
Part 3) With the new guy quitting, the August deadline was now little more than a dream within a dream, which according to Eddie doesn't stop Chad and Richard from trying to find that miracle rock star engineer who can save them from their own situation (which, given what they were offering as pay, didn't exist). So time advances in its unstoppable way, August arrives, and customers find that they've paid for something that hasn't been delivered yet, and pretty much unanimously demand refunds, with a few customers bringing legal action against them. With the amount they have to refund, and the money they now need for legal fees (because of they way they'd incorporated, they were personally liable), they could no longer afford to pay anyone, and were forced to shutter the business.

Final Note: For my fellow software engineers out there who were wondering just how bad this application was, this "program" was a single php file with over 40k lines of code, running inside a `while` loop. Any and all logic consisted of if/else trees, which then led to either more if/else trees or more loops. No function calls, no external libraries included, just.... spaghetti of the worst kind. Given the nature of the application, most critical logic had to be implemented in no less than seven places, depending on where the execution was when the logic was needed. At worst the tab-depth was something like nineteen or twenty tabs deep.

Followup on the Previous Announcement

It’s undeniable that TNO has experienced some rough times over the course of its development, which is usually inevitable in any long-running creative project. Usually, the cause has been creative differences, hasty action or simply a shortage of motivation. However, what has happened in recent days is something else entirely: a direct attack, via doxxing, a hostile, destructive, and illegal crime, upon the TNO team. There’s no secret that the target was our lead developer, Pacifica – an exceptionally talented coder and able leader, who is responsible for many of the features in TNO that our players enjoy. However, beyond her, the damage remains scattered across the hundreds of coders, writers, artists, testers, moderators, and community ambassadors that have stuck behind us for so long, with attacks against their personal image made with illegally obtained information. Certain accusations, which I will not commit the indignity of repeating here, have been made – allegations which are completely false, conjured with the assistance of out-of-context screenshots from leaked developer chat archives. I’m sure anyone with a knack for public relations could tell you how easy it is to fabricate your own version of the truth from a few conveniently-picked cherries.
There are two primary sources of the recent troubles: RU-TNO and Kiwifarms. RU-TNO is, as the name implies, a Russian TNO ‘fan’ server. They are best known for raiding us frequently, espousing far-right sentiments and being thrown out by our moderation team. There’s little more to say about them beyond the fact that they’re a den of trolls without anything better to do. They are one of the primary doxxing culprits. Kiwifarms is much more well-known: a forum that exists with the sole purpose of providing amusement by tormenting people. Kiwifarms, much like the most disreputable parts of imageboards, knows no limits, with inflicting misery on people treated as an end in itself. A thread on Kiwifarms ostensibly dedicated to targeting the Hearts of Iron IV community – but focused heavily on TNO – has become a repository of doxx information and leaks. The site’s reputation speaks for itself: this is a site that intentionally attempts to cause as much misery as possible to people for the sole benefit of entertainment. This is a site that has driven at least one person to suicide through relentless harassment and doxxing. This is a site that revels in the worst behaviour humanity can offer. Reliability to these people means nothing, and morality in their actions certainly is not held up to any notable standard either given how they have treated so many people, now including several people aboard our own team.
I’ve been on the TNO team for over two years, now; in that time, I’ve come to know many of the talented and upstanding individuals who have contributed to this project. Pacifica – my friend, Pacifica – is one of these people. I, along with everyone on this team I care to name, will vouch for her character and ability alike. But beyond her, it does not matter what rank or position you serve upon the team, for I have come to know so many team members, team members which have evolved into friends through not just a connection of work, but for the greatness of these people. I spent a long time immersed in the #chan culture of the late 00s/early 10s, and I know what it’s really like. I saw the very beginning of hellholes like Kiwifarms, and I know what they’re made of. I also know the Hearts of Iron IV community, and I know that while we have striven our best to facilitate a fantastic community, pockets of anger and hate have persisted to attack us for little more than trying to make a modification to a video game. Make no mistake, this is not about revealing some heinous, hidden truth behind TNO; this is a deliberate targeting of an innocent person to try and ruin their life. For fun.
And, as for claims of Leadership Struggle or Purges that the Kiwifarms and other respectable folks like to cycle, they are simply untrue, and have no evidence but the fantasies of some random nazis to back them. On the first we had 210 members, and as of yesterday, we had 204. Of those 6 members who have departed the team, 3 where developers who left due to either death threats or doxxing, and 3 where members who left temporarily as a consequence of drama. Here’s also an example of one of many threats against HoI4 Modders that have been made. This particular image is from the TNO Redux 4Chan thread which has been since removed for including such wonderful subjects as doxxing. As for the Leadership Struggle, there’s just nothing to suggest it and also the simple fact that the devs are a collective body who collectively promote into our ranks. When we add a developer we do so because we have general agreement that said team member is a fit for the role and it’s responsibilities. There being a power struggle among people who voluntarily advocated for each other on every single step of the way, and whom have worked closely together (whether as devs or as team members) for years in some cases, is just silly, incredibly so. Unsourced claims from "current TNO developer"s are literally everywhere in the Kiwi Farms threads and the extent to which they've let themselves be grifted by randoms spreading whatever bullshit makes it actually shocking this community managed to doxx anybody.
The TNO team are no strangers to drama, as much as we try our best to avoid it. We’re bigger and better than that. The reason we took our time to address this topic in-depth is that we preferred to avoid feeding the fire – but with the personal safety and well-being of team members across the board, and across a variety of positions being at stake, we have decided it would be appropriate to address what has happened here. Whatever troubles we have experienced are in the past, just as this incident will be. We will continue to develop TNO because we are driven by a creative passion, and for you, our fans, who have been so patient over the years. We will not be held back by any number of pathetic attempts to derail the project that we cherish. Remember: this is a modification to a video game, plain and simple, and we are simply doing what we can to make a fun and enjoyable product for all of you to enjoy, and the personal lives of our own team members have been threatened over this simple, fun project that we make for you all. Threatened with an outright illegal action, a crime that is punishable internationally for the sharing of personal information online without consent from the original holder of the information for heinous purposes.
Finally, I wish to say a few specific words on content creators. First is the matter of submods: TNO: Axis of Evil has been involved in doxxing, harassment and raiding this server. It is a banding together of far-right individuals banned from this server (and in some cases from the team) for their repugnant views. Neither the mod itself nor its developers are welcome here. Second, those aboard the RU-TNO server who seek to raid our server and harass our team members will be banned. Lastly, Hearts of Iron IV Youtuber, Mountain General, has posted a video regarding the ‘drama’; The video includes, among many, many transphobic images and statements, a direct link to a video about Pacifica’s doxx and information from the doxx. The fact that someone would stoop to spreading drama and illegally obtained information for views and ad revenue is nothing short of appalling. He is no friend of the TNO team, has been banned from this server, and his videos will be deleted immediately if posted.
With all of this out of the way, I am happy to inform you all of the good news: development has not slowed, and the team is continuously working hard past our obstacles, still 200+ members strong! You may expect our scheduled patches to release as expected and without any compromises on their quality. Those of you who are members of this community: thank you for reading, and for your endless support no matter what has come to attack us. It is massively unfortunate that we have to say these events happen, for the personal targeting and hurting of someone dear to us over the content of an online project is a heartbreaking piece of news. But, we will not stop, and we shall not falter, and continue to develop and make the best worst HoI4 mod ever.

I’ve only dabbled in penny stocks during the last half year or so, and when I have, I’ve been reluctant to invest any remotely significant portion of my portfolio into any one particular stock. I’m not recommending anyone do what I do and I’m definitely not a financial advisor. But having said that, Talon Metals (TLOFF) is the exception to all my investing rules. It’s a game changer and here’s why:
I have family in Duluth, Minnesota. My brother-in-law has been in the mining industry his entire life. Talon Metals is on track to be the top nickel producing company in North America and it also happens to be located in central Minnesota. I knew nothing about mining or mining companies before diving into this, but he’s been working in the industry for 19 years. He’s worked and lived in both Canada and the US because of his career in the mining industry. I’m really not sure if this type of information is allowed here but I happened to randomly speak with him yesterday before the Super Bowl and following our conversation, I’ve never in my life been more excited about any one stock, or opportunity for that matter, after hearing what he had to say.
All I will say (and all I believe I’m allowed to say here) is he is (1) very familiar with Talon Metals, (2) the EV craze for nickel is very real, and (3) Talon Metals is indeed on Tesla’s radar, and is absolutely in the running to get a long term contract for RESPONSIBLE nickel mining, along with one other domestic contender. He was emphatic that not only will this will happen before 2021 is over, but also that the contract will indeed be with a DOMESTIC nickel producer because of Tesla’s supply chain goals and because of the impending subsidies that are going to be granted by Biden, given to domestic, AMERICAN metal mining companies adjunct to the EV industry. This is the same reason Tesla has already begun exploring their own lithium mining operations in Nevada. Nickel, however, is an different entirely beast and cannot by extracted easily from clay sites like the one Tesla just purchased in Nevada. Nickel extraction is far more labor intensive and Tesla frankly doesn’t have a choice but to contract mining companies to unearth this metal. Before going further, I do not claim to be aware of any existing contract/agreement between Tesla/any other EV company and Talon Metals.
I proceeded to grill him on what he was telling me and made him clarify over and over. Floored, I’ve been researching non-stop for nearly 24 hours straight about anything I can on Talon Metals and it’s major competitors, and any insight I can gather into upcoming EV manufacturer contracts. My brother-in-law’s knowledge of the situation lines up almost too perfectly after reading everything I’ve read in the last 24 hours. Check it out:
Tesla will be making all their battery cathodes going forward without ANY cobalt whatsoever. In fact, Tesla has gone on record to rule out cobalt from its batteries going forward. This means a HUGE increased demand for nickel. Again, my brother-in-law is already seeing this firsthand in his industry. All the domestic mining industry can talk about is lithium and nickel, apparently. In his words “it’s becoming the new gold”.
Cobalt is considered the “blood diamond” of metal mining. Cobalt is also the most expensive metal element in EV batteries. Nickel is cheaper and safer than cobalt and comes with far fewer environmental repercussions. Going cobalt-free and moving to nickel-based cathodes will be THE vital step in Tesla’s goal to make the $25,000 EV ubiquitous. Nickel ore is absolutely essential and Elon knows it, which is why he’s pleaded on record via Twitter stating - “... Go for efficiency, obviously environmentally-friendly nickel mining at high volume. Tesla will give you a giant contract for a long period of time, if you mine nickel efficiently and in an environmentally sensitive way.”
Nickel is not only the future of Tesla’s batteries, it’s the future of every EV maker’s battery cathodes. Tesla doesn’t just want a green car, they have become obsessed with the “cleanness” of the manufacturing aspect of the car itself. It is almost a forgone conclusion that every single other manufacturer of EVs, large and small, are going to follow suit with eliminating expensive, inefficient cobalt and replacing it entirely with nickel.
To the next point and my single biggest questions - aren’t there larger mining companies that exist that can dwarf the amount of nickel mid-size mining companies can produce? And why is Talon Metals purportedly the golden child of all the domestic nickel mining companies?
Here’s the answer. Tesla has held off awarding any contract because they are apparently vetting every mid-size and large nickel mining company with extreme scrutiny. Again, something my brother-in-law has told me he’s witnessed firsthand recently to a greater extent than he’s ever seen in his nearly two decades in the industry. Talon Metals has a proprietary nickel extraction method - arguably the cleanest in the world. They’ve literally coined the buzzwords “green nickel”. Talon Metals is the only domestic mining company the creates solar energy fields from former mining sites. Talon Metals is also the ONLY major nickel producer in North America that is actively attempting to make its entire mining operation carbon-neutral, including transitioning to its own on-site EVs.
Better yet, geological testing at their main Tamarack mining site in Minnesota has revealed that it is indeed one of THE MOST high-quality nickel dense sites in the world rivaled only by the nickel mining industry in Indonesia (which currently has a nickel ore export ban). Most nickel sulphide mining projects are around .9% - 1.1%. Low-grade nickel sulphide mining projects are about .2%. Talon Metals Tamarack nickel sulphide deposit has averaged 1.8% - 2.1%! It may not sound like much, but it is extremely significant. Nickel sulphide deposits like the one at Tamarack are EXTREMELY few and far between worldwide. For this reason alone Talon Metals can provide high quality nickel at the lowest possible cost out of any single company in North America. It’s not even close. Talon Metals’ Tamarack mine is also only ONE OF TWO large-scale, high grade nickel operations in the US, the other being Eagle Mine in Michigan, which is purportedly going to be mined-out by 2025 (cease mining nickel altogether). This will leave Talon Metals as not only the sole, major high-grade nickel operation in the US, but also the greenest in the world. Unlike the trajectory of lithium recycling operations, nickel recycling operations do not and will not come anywhere close to meeting the current demand by EV companies for many years. It’ll be decades until that’s the case and until then, nickel mining is absolutely crucial to the EV world.
Even with all that good news I saved the very best for last. From my understanding, here is the biggest reason Talon Metals is THE front runner for a massive nickel contract from Tesla and other EV companies:
Talon has created their own proprietary hydromet process. What this means is, they have a created a process where nickel is minded and transformed into battery form ON-SITE! This means no smelting. It also means significantly lower cost and skipping transportation of the mined nickel multiple times across different continents before the nickel returns to the USA in a battery component called a cathode. Talon Metals has created the ONLY process in the world where the nickel goes from the mine to the battery in one place. From the CEO of Talon Metals, here’s what he said recently in an interview - “Talon is looking to raise the bar on how mining is done. By going directly from mine to battery we believe that we can play a vital role in a fully integrated domestic battery supply chain, rather than shipping the product around the globe multiple times for processing.”
When the Talon Metals CEO was asked to comment about an impending partnership with Tesla he DID NOT flat out deny it. As leader of a publicly traded company he is required to explicitly deny claims of this type if he knows them to be false. Instead, he simply said he’d rather not comment at this time.
Other huge mining companies are messing up, BADLY. Vale mining has had terrible publicity recently due to their horrific Brazilian mining accident where 270 people died because of sheer negligence. Also, not domestic nickel. Norilsk nickel mining in Russia might be the single largest nickel mining operation in the world, and possibly the single most environmentally UNFRIENDLY. Their stock has suffered because of it. They face billions of dollars in fines for egregious environmental violations and have completely polluted the largest river in the Taymyr area of Russia, infuriating the indigenous Taymyr people and causing massive protests throughout much of Northern Russia. And again, not domestic. Indonesia produces more nickel than anyone in the world but they currently have an export ban, and further, they’ve also begun terribly polluting the surrounding ocean as a consequence of increased nickel demand. Indonesia is actually probably the worst offender out of all three major nickel mining operations, even worse than Brazil and Russia. Tesla is also actively trying to eliminate Indonesian nickel from their future supply chain due the country’s environmentally unfriendly regard towards the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
Maybe most importantly, Tesla has already shown their willingness to partner with relatively smaller, DOMESTIC metal mining operations. If you recall, Tesla signed a 5 year agreement with Piedmont Lithium based in North Carolina just recently in September of 2020. This was only 4-5 months ago! The Piedmont Lithium mine in North Carolina is still under development. They are an emerging lithium mining company still in its infancy who, I believe, had zero customers prior to Tesla. I don’t believe Piedmont Lithium has even begun extracting lithium and it seems they’ve only completed requisite geologic and feasibility studies. Talon Metals is arguably far, FAR more established. Before the Tesla agreement, Piedmont Lithium was trading at about $6 a share. Now it’s at about $60 a share. 10X in five months, still skyrocketing.
Tesla entering a long term agreement with Vale, Norilsk or an Indonesian supplier goes against literally everything Tesla is trying to create, and a partnership, although possible, is highly, highly unlikely. They want environmentally sensitive green nickel extraction, they want to optimize their supply chain and they’d prefer a domestic source. Talon Metals is all of these things and by far the most likely choice. The foreign existing nickel mining operations are none of these things. Talon Metals will not only be the first major domestic nickel deal Tesla does, very similar to the Piedmont Lithium deal they did in September of 2020, but Talon Metals will be THE major green nickel producer of the world within a few years. Tesla has already begun its own lithium mining explorations in Nevada and STILL needed another domestic source in Piedmont Lithium. Tesla does not and will not mine for nickel, arguably the single most important metal in its battery.
Take all this for whatever it’s worth. Like the stock. Don’t like the stock. Up to you. I am very, very long on TLOFF. This subreddit has been an extremely good source of penny stock info and I’m grateful to its members, big time. THIS is where I come for 90% of my penny stock sentiment. Of course I’ll research thoroughly from here before pulling the trigger and truly, I pass on a lot of what I read here, but my total return from investing in penny stocks recommended here is, as a percentage, significantly higher than my total return from investing in more traditional NYSE and Nasdaq stocks. And again, for that, I’m very grateful to this subreddit. I doubt I’ll post about other pennies in the future that I think are going to take off because frankly, I don’t know enough and don’t want to mislead people... but if there was ever one stock I was extremely confident recommending, it’s Talon Metals $TLOFF. I've tried creating a convincing genshin wish simulator site

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! PLEASE READ!
This time, the site got featured on a Thai gaming site and a couple of hundreds of visitors were coming to the site again. I might have to take the site down for a month, unfortunately. This was fun but I'm having to end up paying more than I'd like at this point, and although I've received 3 donations(and I'm super thankful for them), it is nowhere enough to cover the costs. Thank you for understanding. It's very bittersweet and I've spent countless hours on this. But it'll definitely be back again next month!

This was a fun but difficult project for me. At the moment, if too many users were to visit, it might go down for a bit due to funds but I'm hoping that won't be the case. It isn't perfect. It was countless nights of struggling, tears, and dying and I'm still afraid it's not that great. But I did do my best and I hope that's what matters in the end.
Also, some of the assets were very difficult to find. Tablet and mobile are not fully friendly yet. I'd recommend laptop/desktops for now. The first time load might be slow but after playing a bit, there should be almost no load times.
Please let me know if you find any bugs. I will cry but I will try to fix them asap. Any criticisms or recommendations are welcomed.
Note: Wishing for 1x will also load slower the first time than for 10x. This is due to funds. So I'd recommend going for 10x.

Edit: It has come to my attention weapon banner is sharing the same pity rates as normal banners. I did not realize the rates differed, so I'll need to fix it asap. For now, weapon banner will be inaccurate as the soft pity is at 75 and hard pity at 90.

Disgraceful & false media narrative about GME

Dear fellow retards & autists,
The shit-tier level of journalism covering the GME saga has been a fucking disgrace. Half of it is plain financial illiteracy, and the other half is inter-generational bashing and fear-mongering. You think it's been bad thus far? The squeeze hasn't even really set off yet, can you imagine what happens next week when the stock hits the low triple digits? Eventually to 420.69? End game of 1000$+? Lets recap what has happened so far:
False media narrative #1: Recent rise of GME is due to sHorT sQuoZe!!!1!
Reality: GME is an undervalued company & a turnaround story. Investors are finally starting to notice. Short squeeze hasn't even started yet.
January 13th - We had our first breakout to 30$ from the sub-20$ doldrums, the shit-tier level reporting started immediately. The media went balls deep on the short squeeze narrative despite absolutely no evidence that shorts had covered at all. Rather it was just long buyers piling in. For example, Bloomberg titles their article "GameStop Surges Most Ever in Short Squeeze After Cohen Move" despite quoting Ihor Dusaniwsky stating the opposite in the body of the article.
January 14-15th - The stock bounced from the mid to high 30's. Forbes reports "What drove up GameStop’s shares was a short-squeeze on steroids." despite no evidence to support that claim and while quoting Ihor Dusaniwsky saying the actual catalyst was due to stronger holiday sales & board shakeup.
January 22nd - GME breaks out yet again - hitting the low 70's before settling to the 60's. CNBC proceeds to again spread the falsehood about "massive short covering" with absolutely no evidence to back that up. Rather the bump was a result of a gamma squeeze.
False media narrative #2: Rabid retail investors are victimizing the poor short sellers
Reality: Short sellers have been conducting illegal naked short selling to drive a company employing tens of thousands to bankruptcy.
Bloomberg blithly characterizes reddit as an "angry mob" out to attack poor little Citron. Bullshit, an angry mob is what stormed DC on Jan 6th, not a bunch of random individuals that left internet comments you didn't agree with on your youtube video. No mention of Citron's far shadier and illicit history.
Wired re-urgitates Andrew Left's baseless claims of being "hacked" and "harrassed by pizza deliveries". No mention of Citron's track-record of making baseless fraud allegation and market manupulation
WSJ sympathetically mentioned "Many investors have complained about short squeezes that have left them nursing losses." and then going on to write a gushing biography about Gabe Plotkin. No mention of illegal naked short selling or that Gabe drove GME all the way down to 3$ but was too greedy to lock in his profits.
We, the retail investors, didn't do shit other than invest into a company that deserves a second chance. The shorts put themselves into a precarious situation through their own greed and illegal naked short selling. The media wants to punch down on the "easy" target: Reddit and WSB. Reviews should not be vehicles for rolling out more marketing material, so I'll put my review up when I'm able to show you the reality of the game with my own footage.
I'm also disappointed that no console review code was provided to any outlet...
Console games are often reviewed without their day one or even day zero patches, so Cyberpunk would not have been special in this regard. Its really lame that no reviewer can tell you how this game runs on console on the review embargo.
I absolutely love this game and I think CDPR did extraordinary work, but its clearly unfinished at this point and no review relying on trailer footage alone can properly convey that.

Toms Hardware Performance Review:
The minimum GPU listed is a GTX 780, with GTX 1060 6GB recommended for 1080p high, RTX 2060 for 1440p ultra, and an RTX 2080 Super for 4K ultra. Then there's the ray tracing additions, with the RTX 2060 listed as the minimum for 1080p and RT medium, 3070 for 1440p and RT ultra, and 3080 for 4K RT ultra. Based on what we're seeing, it looks like those recommendations are for 30-40 fps.

You'll still have fun if you pick it up now, but unless you're dying for it, it's best to wait until it's been patched and improved.

So, the day has come, and MicroVision's market cap is finally big enough so that you won't get banned for mentioning it on WSB. But what is it? Why have they seen an 800%+ increase in three months? Where are they headed? Allow me to explain.
About Them
MicroVision, Inc. (MVIS) makes futuristic-as-fuck laser technology that's used in self driving cars and augmented reality headsets. This already sets them apart from a major competitors like Velodyne (VLDR), which focuses solely on LiDAR for self driving cars.
Sumit Sharma, the CEO, was head of operations at Google's Project GLASS and has worked to map hardware development at Motorola, also worked at Jawbone. Source
Why have they been increasing 800% in three months while similar companies in the same sector see a fraction of that gain?
Because their tech is much more advanced than the competition, and they were (are) criminally undervalued.
The reason they're so undervalued is because the first thing hedge funds see when they research a potential investment is the balance sheet, and on paper MVIS looks like shit. (Low assets, high liabilities) Even I saw the movement back in December, did some research, and was like "Wtf is this? I need to get puts" But once you do research into their product, who their customers are, and the future of the industry that they are involved in, you see that MicroVision is a turnaround story similar to that of Plug Power; both are 90's futuristic companies that people got way too excited about in 2000, have struggled to make it to 2020, but now are about to finally have their heyday. And they got a $13 million equity facility (loan) in December that greatly improved their balance sheet, making them appeal to institutions, and bringing Vanguard and Blackrock to invest in MVIS days later. I actually had a hedge fund manager tell me that MVIS was doomed to run out of cash in Q1 2020, but if they secured funds then they would have a lot of potential. I go over that in the comments.

Anyways, what is this "much more advanced" technology? I'll just let this chart do the talking:
The MicroVision Consumer LIDAR being compared here isn't even their model designed for self-driving cars, that will be coming in April.
The resolution it can take as input/second, the points per second, is key when it comes to how clearly the LiDAR sensor can see, how accurately it can identify what it is seeing, and how quickly it can react.
That chart is from 2 years ago and still the best resolution Velodyne can provide today is only 4,800,000 pps in their most advanced model, the "Alpha Prime"
3D Lidar Data Points Generated 2- Single Return Mode: ~ 2,400,000 points per second- Dual Return Mode: ~ 4,800,000 points per second.
VLDR has not publicly announced a price for their Alpha Prime yet, but historically their top of the line devices cost $75,000. I have seen unsourced numbers of the Alpha Prime costing $100,000. That was last year, will probably be brought down to be more reasonable for automakers to purchase. They did announce a $500 model called the Velarray H800 in November, but the only thing they said about its pps resolution is that its "outstanding"... lol.
As for Luminar (LAZR), they will launch the new model "Iris" in 2022, which will cost about $1,000: (the same price as MicroVision's device to be revealed in April). It will also only operate at 10Hz. This is similar to playing a racing game at 10FPS. If you know anything about video games, you know that this is unplayable.
Iris will cost less than $1,000 per unit for production vehicles seeking serious autonomy, and for $500 you can get a more limited version for more limited purposes like driver assistance, or ADAS. Luminar says Iris is 'slated to launch commercially on production vehicles beginning in 2022,' but that doesn't mean necessarily that it's shipping to customers right now. The company is negotiating more than a billion dollars in contracts at present, a representative told me, and 2022 would be the earliest that vehicles with Iris could be made available.
A lengthy post has been make comparing Luminar's resolutions with MicroVision's, which was not easy to calculate because Luminar said their resolution was "300dpi/spdeg", a statistic that is incomprehensible for shareholders because its not the common specification of millions (3D) points per second. Here's the math, I sum it all up at the bottom:
Luminar's Hydra claims resolution of "up to 200 points per square degree" and a FOV of 120° x 30° (degrees). (and 300 points for Iris, the one coming in 2022.)
However, the vertical FOV can be configured from 1° to 30° , which likely explains the use of "up to" in the resolution numbers. Generally, as FOV expands, resolution shrinks, assuming a constant pixel stream. This is why Alex Kipman made such a big deal about MSFT maintaining resolution in Hololens 2(YT links aren't allowed apparently) while expanding FOV because it required more pixels to do so.
Specifically, regarding Luminar, is 200 points per square degree available when FOV is at the maximum 120° x 30°? Or is it available only at a lesser FOV such as, for example, 120° x 5°? The use of "up to" suggests the latter.
Even assuming 200 points per square degree at 120° x 30° is available, which is not conceded given the stated "up to", that would yield a total resolution of 720,000 points. MVIS claims capacity in excess of 20M points per second. At a resolution of 720,000 points, Luminar would require a frame rate of 27.7 Hz to equal 20M points per second. Luminar's specs do not suggest that its technology is capable of such a high frame rate at this resolution. This is not surprising given it does not use MEMS micromirrors but something more "mechanical" including, as per a recent patent, spindles and a drive belt
(1) At video time 19:56, Luminar compares the specs of its Iris product to industry requirements. The graphic reveals that Luminar's 2022 production lidar, Iris, will support resolution of 300 points per square degree at 10 Hz. Assuming that resolution applies to the entire FOV of 120 x 30 degrees and not just a portion of the FOV, that would imply a points per second value of 120 x 30 x 300 x 10 Hz = 10.8M points per second. If the 300 points/ sq. deg applies only to a smaller FOV, the points per second figure would be proportionally smaller. Microvision claims 20M points per second for its current MEMS lidar. The company also advises that its technology is capable of more than 20M points/sec.
TLDR: The best case scenario for Luminar is that their 2022 model will have 10.8 million pps, but in reality its probably much lower than that because of FOV configurations, careful wording by press releases, and Hz limitations. Additional Interesting insight on Luminar and their tech lagging behind is in the comments, this post is long enough already.
Again the MicroVision Consumer LIDAR (specifications) being used for comparison here isn't even their model designed for self-driving cars. Their device specialized for cars, the "1st gen Long Range LiDAR (LRL) Sensor", will be coming in April.
We expect our 1st generation LRL Sensor to have range of at least 250 meters and the highest resolution at range of any lidar with 340 vertical lines up to 250 meters, 568 vertical lines up to 120 meters and 944 vertical lines up to 60 meters. This equates to 520 points per square degree.

Level 1 is feet off, level 2 is hands off, level 3 is eyes off, level 4 is mind off, and level 5 is full passenger (you can sit in the back). So basically, they have that 2045 technology today, while everyone else is trying to play catch-up. How is it so advanced? It all lies in the high resolution of the laser sensors.
I've seen MVIS's LiDAR in action at a shareholder meeting. It can recognize people. This has been described on MicroVision's conference calls, and has been described with significant additional safety and convenience features.
This could identify individual people
Can distinguish between pets and people (or YOUR pet and the neighbors pet)
Can distinguish between normal behaviors and strange things that could be of concern
Could save face-scans of intruders and allow intruders to be identified later Source
If their devices can really recognize people, objects, and pets, it could integrate security verticals in MicroVision's business model. (Video surveillance is expected to reach a 144.5 B market size by 2027) Why not just use cameras? Cameras are worse at long distances,
LiDAR is the only sensor that gives you resolution at range: the ability to get very fine and very accurate detection of objects in space.
that's why Teslas use radar systems in addition to their cameras, still not good enough to prevent fatalities on the road using Tesla's "full self-driving" software. Also, cameras struggle with light glare, weather, and 3D imaging, while LiDAR fixes all those issues. The main advantage of cameras are their resolution, and MicroVision is bridging the gap.
So, will testing be successful?
We expect the capability of our LRL Sensor to meet or exceed OEM requirements, based on technology we have scaled multiple times over the last decade, as being a very strong strategic advantage. (Same source)

Growing Industry
The self-driving cars market is expected to reach 220.44 billion dollars by 2025. This includes taxi, civil, public transport, heavy duty trucks, ride shares, and ride hail (UBER - 72 B mkt cap) applications.
Traffic Accidents in the US alone Cost 871 Billion A Year, even just yesterday there was an insane pileup on the I-35W highway in Texas that killed 6, injured 36, and damaged 133 vehicles.
Not only self-driven cars need LiDAR. In a few years, as soon as MicroVision's 1st Gen LRL is available, LiDAR systems will certainly become mandatory for (still) human-controlled cars to avoid collisions. This tech could become as revolutionary and successful as airbags. Airbags are a 37.3 billion dollar industry.
If only 10% of the cars produced annually contain four Microvision LRL systems, this will result in a volume of 364 million units in ten years. (9.1 million cars * 4 modules * 10 years) And this is a conservative calculation, both a higher market share, more cars produced, and more modules per car are conceivable.
At least 4 LRL devices will be necessary to establish a \"circle of safety.\"

Augmented Reality
The Hololens 2 is an example of a Virtual Reality Device (VRD) manufactured by Microsoft that uses MicroVision MEMS Laser Scanning display modules inside.

Sumit Sharma became the CEO in February of 2020, he is a mechanical engineer that has been with MVIS for five years after having been the head of operations at Google Project Glass, and working for Motorola and Jawbone.
Dr. Mark Spitzer is on the board of directors having previously worked at Google X, Darpa, Kopin and having founded Myvu and Photonic Glass.
Judy Curran joined the board this year after spending 30 years at Ford, where she was the Director of Technical Strategy. She is also the Head of Global Automotive Strategy for Ansys, a simulation software company that works with ADAS systems.

Because of their lack of focus on augmented reality technologies, competitors are not likely to have a future in the markets of smart glasses, healthcare, engineering, military equipment, GPS safety, entertainment, and interactive projectors. They are involved in an industry that is currently at an inflection point, due to grow massively in the near future. Their high number of extremely advanced patents will bring in significant revenue for the company in the coming years. I have never seen a company with such low insider selling, that the last case of a sale was in 2014. Institutional investors are piling in as MicroVision's balance sheet improves and they near the April LRL sensor test date, which has a high likelihood of being a success. I think this stock should currently be valued at 20 Billion dollars, taking all of this into account, and expect it to rise drastically over the next few years.
