Cities of Splendor is a quartet of expansions for use with the Splendor base game, with each expansion being independent in addition to being compatible with one another. *One expansion gives players something new to compete for while playing, something bigger than the nobles who await your interest in the base game. Splendor is a fast, elegant, and intuitive game in which two to four players compete to build Renaissance Europe's most lucrative and prestigious jewelry business. You begin by collecting raw gems and use those to fund the development of mines throughout the world. The original Splendor is a must have game for board game lovers. This expansion was a great way to change up the game with the 4 variations included in this expansion. Very easy to let hours go by while playing this game! Splendor by Asmodee is one of my favorite games, and if you’re into Splendor, the Cities of Splendor expansion pack is a natural add on (four expansions: two that play well, one that doesn’t, and the fourth I am neutral on). I rate Splendor at 5 stars, Cities of Splendor at 4 stars. Cities of splendor introduces four complete expansions to the splendor base game, each accentuating and highlighting a different aspect of the original game. Towers allow players to reserve additional cards, special powers introduce a new layer of engine building, cities give players a new goal to strive towards, and a range of exciting development cards add spice to any game. So I was eager for its first expansion, Cities of Splendor, which is releasing soon. I’m loving this expansion, which is really a series of four different expansions. I think it adds some nice elements to the base game without adding much complexity. I’m going to provide an overview and rating for each one. It’s not a must have. Cities, on the other hand, if you have played Splendor so many times (upwards of 50x for me), then you would really wanna get the Cities expansion as it adds variety to the game.
