One of the things I like most about The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is the interesting combination of mystery and discovery they weave into every corner of the property. I had the opportunity to stay there again recently, and found several new secret finds at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas to share. Under new management, The Cosmopolitan has undergone some interesting transformations In-between the casino and the second floor, The Chandelier 1.5 is an award-winning bar known for its creative, handcrafted cocktails. When you ask for a "Flower Drink" (also known as the Verbena), you will be gifted with one of Sin City's best drinks. And as you sip on this heavenly cocktail, you'll feel super glam amidst the glittery, looping string lights; it's as if you are actually sitting inside a grand chandelier. Enter the Cosmopolitan‘s Mariena Mercer, the chef mixologist and mastermind behind the entire hotel’s beverage program. We’re particularly fond of The Verbana from the hotel’s Chandelier Bar, a cocktail which you won’t find on the menu. The drink will quite literally make your mouth water because it comes with a Szechuan button—an edible flower that is filled with a natural alkaloid. The beautiful pink coloured refreshment is finished off with a flower that is edible. This is a very classy hand crafted drink. 4. Fire Breathing Dragon. Various versions of this fiery cocktail can be found in casino lounges. Taking the delightful Daiquiri out of its normal ‘routine’, this drink is spiced with Bacardi rum with hints of chillies, berry flavours to name a few. Presented to The “flower drink” at the Cosmo If you’ve done any research on this bar or had a friend who has stayed at the Cosmo, you’ve probably heard about the famous “flower drink.” It’s actually called the “Verbena” and although it’s considered somewhat of a “secret drink,” it’s actually been served more than 100,000 times a year at this bar to guests. The Cosmopolitan describes it as “a highly aromatic cocktail playing on the sweet lemon of the verbena and the kick of the ginger. Eat the Szechuan button first to take your taste buds for a ride on an electric roller coaster.” The drink is light and refreshing while the “Szechuan button” (Acmella oleracea) is a total contrast to that. Cosmopolitan’s “Desert Breeze” scent is a conglomeration of fresh sea air, Tiare flower, orange blossom, and solar amber. Cromwell’s distinctive “Allure Noire” aroma features hits of tobacco leaves, cognac, warm leather, black pepper, and nutmeg. A scent I seek out every time in Vegas.
