Small wound(s) in the front of JFK's head - PART 1.1 - Intro

Back to CONTENTS
The body of John F. Kennedy was examined by three autopsy pathologists – Drs. James Humes, J. Thornton Boswell, and Pierre Finck. All three claimed to agree the wounds in the body were caused by two bullets that entered from behind. Still, their conclusions have never stopped coming under scrutiny. What exactly did Kennedy's body look like after the shooting? Is the lone gunman hypothesis true?
The pathologists said that they found a small wound in the back of the head and a large wound on the side of the head. Were there any other small defects on the head? Statements attributed to at least eighteen witnesses suggest there was a small wound on somewhere on the FRONT of JFK’s head:

-No small wounds in the front of the head were specified in the official autopsy protocol (WC D 77 [text]) or the Warren Commission testimonies of the three pathologists (WC Vol. 2, p. 347 [text]; WC Vol. 2, p. 376 [text]; WC Vol. 2 p. 377 [text]).
If such a wound did exist, does this count as strong evidence against the official story? One could try arguing that a bullet entering from behind could leave a small shrapnel exit wound in the front. Still, no such would was specified by the pathologists. Is it possible they were engaged in a cover-up? Many would doubt they could have missed a bullet wound as they were examining the scalp and skull.
-When Dr. Boswell was later shown the official autopsy photographs, he pointed out a small spot on the upper back of the head which he said was tear in the scalp related to the large defect (HSCA Vol. 7, p. 243, HSCA interview with Humes and Boswell, 9/16/1977 [text] [audio]; Boswell's ARRB deposition, 2/29/1996 [text]). This could mean there were other small defects in the scalp which were not properly identified at the time.
-On the diagram of the body marked during the autopsy, there is a small dot on the level of the left eye, which appears to be marked "0.4 cm", and a small circle on the level of the right eye, marked “0.8 cm”. In another drawing of the head made at the time, there is a square-shape on what looks to be the left side of the head, with "3cm" marked above the square (ARRB MD 1). None of the original autopsy materials explain what these markings mean. This issue was brought up when Boswell was interviewed by Baltimore Police Officer Richard Waybright on 10/2/1990. From the 1992 book High Treason 2 by Harrison Livingstone:
[...p. 191, Chapter 8. J. Thornton Boswell]
Boswell was very gracious to my investigator, and answered all of Mr. Waybright's questions to the best of his ability. He promised to locate his notes and at a further meeting explain what some of the markings on his blood-stained drawings made at the autopsy meant. In particular, we wanted to know what the sketch of an apparent wound in the left eye marked "three centimeters" meant, and what the dot over left eye was in the full body drawing.1
[...194-195]
Richard Waybright's report to me said: "Dr. Boswell could not explain the markings on the skull diagram that indicate '3.4 cm,' nor could he explain the markings on the body chart [face area] which are located in the area of both eyes. This inability to recall these markings is plausible because it has been twenty-seven years. What this tells me is that there were no entry wounds in the face or left temple area.
"Dr. Boswell was adamant that there were no wounds in the face or left temple area
"Dr. Boswell stated that when you use his diagrams to locate the wounds you should use only the measurements next to the diagram and not the marks, because they will indicate the general area and not to be considered exact by any means. The marks were to orient the area of the wound and the measurments were to pinpoint it exactly." In addition, Boswell did not make all of the notations on his drawings. Jim Jenkins made some of them.
Lab technician James Curtis Jenkins was asked about the markings, at a 4/6/1991 conference in Dallas:
Harrison Livingstone: Could you look at these two drawings of Dr. Boswell's that were done at the autopsy and say how accurate they are and what do they mean?
Jenkins: This one is confusing, I don't- to be honest with you, as I look at this and if I'm looking for-
Livingstone: This drawing right here.
Jenkins: Okay. I'm not sure of what three millimeters on the left eye is, I'm not sure what-
Livingstone: Centimeters. Three centimeters.
Jenkins: Or centimeters. I'm not sure of what the 'missing' means. They seem to be almost in- inverted as far as the wounds depicted and things of this nature. I really don't know what to make of these. I have never been able to orientate them.
Dr. Phillip E. Williams: Did he do autopsies routinely, this particular doctor?
Jenkins: No.
Livingstone: Do you know what these, in the other drawing here showing the full body, do you know what these arrows pointing to each eye, what's written or what that means?
Jenkins: I know- I know what- what the numbers are because that's my handwriting. Okay.
Livingstone: You- you wrote that in? You wrote everything in here?
Jenkins: Most of it, except the description and so forth, Dr. Boswell did this 'ragged', so forth. This one where we did the initial-
Livingstone: On the left side?
Jenkins: Yeah. Well, actually, well, this- this is related to- to the frontal area of the body and this was-
Livingstone: Yeah.
Jenkins: -this was a preliminary to all the autopsies. Dr. Boswell dictated a lot of this. He measured the wound in the neck.
Livingstone: What do these pointing to both eyes- there’s- there’s a circle drawn around the right eye and there’s a line drawn to the left eye.
Jenkins: I- my impression is that that’s the dilation structure of the eye itself.

From Dr. Humes’ 2/13/1996 deposition to the Assassination Records Review Board:
Q. Up at the top of the skull, there is a 3 cm, I assume 3 centimeters. Do you see that?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you have any knowledge about what that would mean?
A. I certainly don't.
(Transcript [text])
From Dr. Boswell’s ARRB deposition, 2/26/1996:
Q. Going up further on the diagram, there appears to be a "3 cm" right over what appears to me to be the left eye. Is that correct? First, does that say "3 cm"?
A. Yes. And that's not my writing. Either Jim or--and that doesn't look like his writing, so that may be Pierre. That apparently is the vomer bone, which is crushed and drawn up there. I don't believe that this is in the frontal bone.
Q. When you say "this," you're pointing to the rectangular shape?
A. To the little oblong 3-centimeter specimen there.
Q. Do you know what the 3 centimeters is referring to there?
A. I'm sure it must be--now, that is mine, that 3 centimeters is my writing, and that must be the length of the piece of bone there.
Q. Does that signify a cracked bone or--
A. Crushed, yeah.
Q. Crushed?
A. Mm-hmm.
Q. Could you explain why, at least to me as a lay person, it appears that there is a rectangular drawing near what I would presume to be the area of the right--or the left orbit and it seems to be circular in the right orbit? Is there some explanation for that that you know of?
A. Well, I remember that the fracture through the bone extended from the frontal bone and through the floor of the orbit. Why that is round and this one is square over here, I don't know.

-After Kennedy was pronounced dead at Parkland Hospital, the body was washed and wrapped in sheets. Nurses Diana Bowron and Margaret Henchliffe said they were the ones who did this (WC Vol. 21, p. 203, Bowron's hospital report; WC Vol. 6, p. 134, Bowron's WC testimony, 5/24/1964 [text]; WC Vol. 6, p. 139, Henchliffe's WC testimony, 3/21/1964 [text]), At least three other witnesses may have seen the body being handled at this time - Nurse Patricia Hutton, Nurse Doris Nelson, and orderly David Sanders (WC Vol. 21, p. 150, CE 392, Medical reports from doctors at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Tex., concerning treatment of President Kennedy at that hospital on November 22, 1963 [text]; WC Vol. 6, p. 143, Nelson's WC testimony, 3/20/1964 [text]). None of these witnesses reported any small wounds in the head. In 1993, Nurse Bowron told researcher Harrison Livingstone "When we prepared the body, I washed as much blood as I could from the hair; while doing this, I did not see any other wound either in the temples or in other parts of the head" (Livingstone, Killing the Truth, 1993, p. 183, Chapter 6. Diana Bowron). Nurse Henchliffe told researcher Wallace Milam on 6/25/1993, as reported, “After Kennedy died and doctors left, she and Diana Bowron washed the body…Face was cleaned by wiping [no wounds seen]” (JFK: From Parkland to Bethesda by Vincent Palamara, 2015 [link]). But, as Nurse Audrey Bell said at the 4/6/1991 conference in Dallas, "It would've been cleaned up partially. However, you didn't do too much cleaning up because medical examiner- you couldn't wash away evidence. So, medical examiner never liked to have a body totally cleaned up before they got it. You sent everything intact with all IV tubes, chest tubes, any drains, anything that's been attached, go intact" (Video, part 1, 47:22).
On 10/8/1990, Harrison Livingstone asked James Curtis Jenkins if he remembered any damage to the left temple area. Jenkins “said that neither he nor anyone else at the autopsy to the best of his knowledge had seen any such wound” (Livingstone, High Treason 2, 1992, p. 229, Chapter 11. James Curtis Jenkins). At the 4/6/1991 Dallas conference, Livingstone showed autopsy assistant Paul O’Connor one of the photographs showing the right side of Kennedy’s head.
Livingstone: Well, we're talking about the forehead, we're talking about a possible entrance wound in the forehead.
O’Connor: [points to forehead on the photo] Right there.
Livingstone: Did you see anything at the autopsy that-
O'Connor: Absolutely not. [...]
(Video, part 2, 51:06)
On 5/9/1991, Paul O’Connor was asked by Livingstone “Did you see anything that looked like an entry wound in the left temple area?”, and O’Connor replied “No”. Livingstone noted “Another time I asked him if there was an entry wound in the right temple area, and he said no” (Livingstone, High Treason 2, 1992, p. 259, Chapter 12. The Recollections of Paul O’Connor). Francis X. O’Neill, an autopsy witness from the FBI, was asked by Livingstone on 5/20/1991 “...you didn’t note any or remember anything about entry hole or any small hole in either right or left temple area?”, to which he replied “There was none” (Audio, 31:29).
-If there was a small wound somewhere on the head, it could have appeared hidden beneath the hair and blood to others who were there with the body. Parkland Hospital’s Dr. Robert McClelland would later say that, in his opinion, Kennedy was shot from the right front (JAMA, 5/27/1992, JFK's death - the plain truth from the MDs who did the autopsy [text]; 4/6/1991 Dallas conference [video, part 2, 44:09, 1:22:51]; High Treason 2, 1992, Chapter 5. McClelland conceded the possibility that there could have been a small wound in the front of the head, even if he didn’t personally see one (12/1/1971 interview by Harold Weisberg, Post Mortem, 1975 edition, p. 376-377, Epilogue; 4/6/1991 Dallas conference [video, part 2, 44:09, 1:22:51]; Bugliosi, 10/1/2002, 11/30/2002 interviews, Reclaiming History, 2007, Book One: Matters of Fact: What Happened, Kennedy's Autopsy and the Gunshot Wounds to Kennedy and Connally; TCSS conference, 2012 [video, part 5, 4:33]; 9/24/2013 interview, Sixth Floor Museum [video, 23:34]; 2013 interview on Televisa [video, 14:45]; 10/5/2015 drawing 1 [link]; 10/5/2015 drawing 2 [link] [link 2]; 2/28/2017 drawing [link]; 4/6/2017 drawing 1 [link] [link 2]; 4/6/2017 drawing 2 [link]; 4/10/2017 drawing 1 [link]; 4/10/2017 drawing 2 [link]; 6/14/2017 drawing 1 [link]; 7/17/2017 drawing [link] [link 2] [link 3]; 2/16/2018 drawing [link]; Undated drawing 1; Undated drawing 2 [link] [link 2] [link 3] [link 4] [link 5] [link 6]; Undated drawing 3 [link] [link 2] [link 3]; Undated drawing 4 [link]; Undated drawing 5 [link]; Undated drawing 6 and letter [link] [link 2]).

Historically Themed Soviet Battlegroups

With the release of the full version of SD2 to the general public tomorrow, I thought people might appreciate some historically themed Soviet battlegroups they can use in pvp multiplayer or pve skirmish. Why might you, the reader want to read further and even potentially import some of these decks?
  1. Its fun!
  2. If you're a new player starting the game, it can be a bit overwhelming to figure out what units to make your first battlegroups out of, I've included a variety of units in each of these divisions including some bad ones, so you'll be able to get an idea of which units you like.
  3. Because the decks are designed based on divisional TOE's rather than picking good units, balance changes are less liable to cause you to need to rework your decks since the battlegroups aren't largely based around a single unit.
  4. If you like me, when you play PvE, it gets really irritating to play against a few AI battlegroups that have all of the best units available and none of the bad units. I like using these battlegroups for the AI when playing PvE skirmish mode.
So, without further ado, lets get to it!
Tank Corps
Division: 2nd Guards Tank Corps
Deck code: DCRCGiCEIS0FTD6VisABQnYAFLYAAQJ2ABYCBBVCIj6SCWVpGiJBVRslahw+ACCrgAEB7AAUEa5lKOIAEE7AiYJ2ABAJBBUG1D6ROaVpAbQ+lVSgAUVGABRyAAED+FaYPC45KiRWlHFgASa+ACBsIAFGugAVaoAChsQAFGxAAA==
Gameplay tips:
2nd Guards Tank corps has a strong armoured core consisting of 45 T-34-85's in addition to 20 T-34-76's. While you may be at a disadvantage against German divisions based on Panthers and Tigers, with good use of terrain and smoke to get close, you can triumph over them by weight of numbers. You also have a limited number of ISU-152 self-propelled guns, that can either be used to obliterate anti-tank guns from long range, or can be used to gently encourage German tanks to disengage from 2000 m engagements.
Potential upgrades:
The first thing you should do is fix the infantry tab. I was modelling a Soviet tank brigade, which has about 300 infantrymen total, which is simply too little for practical use. Another consideration is the artillery tab, I've included 5 different units, you should probably decide which one's are your favourites and cut the rest.
Division: 29th Tank Corps
Deck Code: DCRDGiCEIS2CfAAZa+ABARrmUGwgAUa2ABRsIAKGxAAUbEABAJBBVBGuZhw+ACCrgAFWYFaYPC45BtQ+kD+FaUcWABWzgAEBkMaQVMPpRyAAEqJFaVVKABIJZWkjmFaUNAABSEoAEXaAAQysABBOwHUFOgARoiQVBmI+lgIEFA==
Gameplay tips:
I'll be honest, you can basically take everything written above and apply it here, except with IS-2's instead of ISU-152's. Generally the way I recommend using the IS-2 is to set them up in a line spaced about 1 km apart, with a few T-34's nearby (ideally the cheap T-34-76's), and leaders following after them. As you push across a field, unless your opponent is specifically micromanaging potential ambushing AT guns, they will open up on your sacrificial tanks that are screening the IS-2, followed by the remainder of your vehicles destroying the potentially threatening AT weapon. Also, the IS-2 is vulnerable at around 1200-1400 m to the Panther and Tiger, so you should attempt to maintain at least 1500 m separation from them.
Potential Upgrades:
As above, fix the infantry tab. Also, you have 3 cards that give you IS-2's (1 cmd, 2 normal), which I would highly recommend taking all of. Shift some of the phase B tank cards to phase A, cut 2 of the T-34 cards for my IS-2's, and you'll be happy. In the AT tab I have both SU-85's and M10's, you may wish to cut one of those if you find you prefer the other.
Division: 3rd Guards Tank Corps
Deck Code: DCTBDRhCEJaJPQAKE/AAwT8AEDBgAKMGAAwwYACrAgAIDbH0oNofSIEB9KgQH1IJCOCo2SCo0RIKgeFyih4XHMHhcchFMACkUwAIaVAApaUADDkAAIJ1H0gMhjSg8AALD8AAo5AACISytICNcygPAAChHnHMWlAAhVwACFWAAQ4fAAA=
Gameplay tips:
I swear that my divisions aren't all carbon copies of one another, it just happens that the first three basically are The Soviet pre-order division coming soon to a dlc ETA 6 months from now 3rd Gds tank corps is on paper quite similar to the preceding two divisions, but there are two significant differences. Firstly, your trusty T-34-85 has been replaced with Shermans (A little trivia: the nickname used, "Emcha" comes from the phonetic pronunciation of "Mч"). Second, the heavy tank support in this division is provided by the IS-2 obr 1944, the upgraded version of the IS-2 available in 29th Tank Corps. In practice, its effectively the same vehicle except with 180 mm of frontal armour rather than 160. In combination, as you can no longer rely on your standard medium tank out-gunning any German tank that isn't a panther or Tiger, and your main tank can't really fight them effectively except at close range, you'll want to be far more aggressive with 3rd Gds Tank Corps than you are with 29th Tank Corps. Fortunately, the Sherman is the best cqc medium tank available, and with its improved frontal armour, the IS-2 obr 1944 is able to close to shorter ranges without risking destruction.
Potential upgrades:
Will I surprise anyone by suggesting fixing the infantry tab? Unlike the two divisions above, I think you will desire a more dramatic overhaul with 3rd Gds TC; with 2GTC and 29TC, you have a reasonable chance of winning a long game due to having 65 medium tanks + 6 units of heavy armour supporting you. With 3GTC, you no longer can expect to win the long game, as powerful as the IS-2 obr 1944 is, you can't expect a mere 8-10 of them to carry you to victory against a relentless horde of Panthers. I would suggest revamping your build to vanguard, and attempting to win a short game instead. The Sherman rush is a potent tactic, and unlike the other practitioners, only 3 GTC can call upon the IS-2 obr 1944 to trump any Panther or Tiger that shows up to spoil your fun. just make sure you bring AA/ASF to stop it from dying to cluster AT planes
Mechanized Divisions
Disclaimer: I'm kind of ignoring the game's designations here, and using ones that make more sense instead. In a Soviet context, mechanized divisions are essentially tank divisions with more infantry, rather than motorized infantry divisions with more tanks. Consequently, I'm grouping the three divisions that fall under that rubric together rather than following the game's classifications.
Division: 3rd Guards Mechanized Corps
Deck Code: DCRIGlCEIS0WBAAUTqPpBOwXmGDAAUtmABGjbGoWDAAYcgABRyAAEQIEFhw+ACCrgAFRslaYEa5lELAAFGDAAUCQPpEJZWlVSgASQZSBAewAFBGuZUBQABg8LjlDwuOQP4VpQ/hWlISAAQyuACDDoAEUnUgZAg45QbTjkBtuOYG245QbbjlWDAAA
Gameplay tips:
Unlike the Soviet tank corps, which basically work one way only, you can used 3rd Gds Mechanized in one of two ways depending on what you're up against. If you're fighting a German panzer division, you'll want to try and finish the game as quickly as you can, since in the late game you will severely struggle against panthers and Tigers armed only with Shermans. In this match-up, you'll want to use your strong infantry + tank & mortar support to push into defensible forested positions, and then defeat German counter-attacks with close-range attacks from your AT infantry and Shermans (which, though it might change in the future, are rather busted in cqc because their .50 mg can stun enemy tanks). Against German infantry divisions, you'll want to play in roughly the same fashion: attacking early to gain a points lead, but unlike a German tank division, 3rd Gds Mechanized is actually quite favoured against most German infantry divisions, you have just as much infantry as they do, and rather than having 10-20 meh tanks, you have 40+ of the best tank at a medium price point.
Potential Upgrades:
I would suggest fixing the availability of the sherman cards, I took them at vet 1 because I wanted exactly 42. You, probably won't care. (Although the phase A shermans only lose 1 unit for vet 1, so that's probably worth keeping). Since both strategies with this division involve attacking aggressively in the early game, and you have basically no expensive units, vanguard seems like an ideal choice for this division. Another consideration is that I deliberately excluded the partisan units available (because they aren't in the TOE), but I've been told that the partisan squad with the molotov is extremely broken. You might want to try that out.
Division: Group Tyurin
Deck Code: DCRKGjCEIS0GZD6UVKABhmLjmQIOOVAg45BmI+kihuOVZgVpGiJBVCNxwUIi45g/hWkD+FaRaoABBroAFGugAZa6ABRyAAIcPgASJIVpKiRWlBGuZhCWVqQJDjkDmlaQI845QjzjoItAAUiuABS6QAIKuAAYukABBOwIoMOgAUZk44A=
Gameplay Tips:
On the surface, Group Tyurin looks very similar to 3rd Gds mechanized, and would suggest a similar play style would be needed. This is, broadly speaking, correct. You have a bunch of cheap tanks, a lot of cheap infantry, you'll want to push out in phase A, and then hold on to your gains while the Germans try to counterattack later in the game. Group Tyurin has a few interesting differences with 3rd Gds Mechanized however. Firstly, as its based on a regular, rather than guards formation, you use strelki for your main infantry rather than gvardiya. Consequently, if you happen to check the stats of the Strelki DP squad, you'll notice that due to being armed with 2 LMG's and with semi-automatic rather than bolt-action rifles, you have access to possibly one of the best all-around infantry units in the game, and it costs 25 pts. And you get 3 cards. Of which I only took 2 It may not be as exciting as I'm making it out to be, but just keep in mind that your main infantry unit is superior to the typical infantry unit you get in any of the tank heavy mobile corps.
Main difference number 2: You use T-34's instead of Shermans. On the bright side, they cost less. On the not so bright side, they are significantly worse. Try to stay safe out there while doing your early game rushes.
Difference 3: You have an absurdly large AT tab. I mean, look at that thing. Unlike basically every other battlegroup in the game, you actually do have the AT gun availability to trade guns 1:1 with tanks and come out ahead.
If you keep these differences in mind, you can be successful with largely the same strategy as I recommended using for 3rd Gds Mechanized.
Potential Upgrades:
So, for one thing, there are several more T-34-76 cards that I didn't take because I wanted 43 tanks. If you cut a few other areas, such as the artillery tab, or maybe the anti-tank tab a little, you can easily add another 20+ T-34's to your lineup. In fact, if you switch to vanguard deployment, and cut a few of the late-game options that you won't (ideally) need, you'll be able to shift availability into phase A and B with your tanks and bring a frankly absurd number of them early in the game. The Sherman might be a better tank, but you can't get 24 phase A shermans without sacrificing nearly all of your mid-late game potential, while you can do so without much difficulty with the T-34.
Division: 9th Guards Cavalry
Deck Code: DCRLGkCEIS0C4OOULg45guDjkS3uOgw6ABkt7jlS2OOSqCNFaoI0UqhDRUJKVqHD4AEbPAAkYMABQiLjmDwuOQP445Q/jjmD+OOhCWVpQJDjkqJOUQGQxpEtpWlHIAAQEa5lRy4AGHLgAUucABV94AFG0gAUo045BOwHYKuAAQYMABJgQAA=
Note: Arguably, you could call this an infantry division. However, cavalry corps were used as part of the exploitation force in Soviet offensives, and are lightly equipped (i.e. no heavy artillery) in the same way that the other mobile forces are, rather than equipped with the heavy artillery of a rifle division. Consequently, I have included it in this section.
Gameplay Tips:
The infantry units available in this division are a little weird, with your main rifle squad both being rather small, and also having more SMG's and fewer bolt-actions than line infantry typically do. However, if you consider that bolt-action rifles are complete garbage, and that most battles in open ground are won based on A) who has more LMG's and B) who has more semi-automatic rifles, you can see that having fewer bolt-action rifles than standard actually barely matters at all. In close terrain, which is where infantry are most necessary, the increased number of SMG's in each squad helps your line infantry out-fight opposing line infantry; while you still lose to specialized cqc squads, at least your opponent needs cqc squads to beat you rather than vice versa. Note as well the card of SVT riflemen, while you might think from their high availability and low cost that these units are weak, they're actually really strong due to their high strength and number of semi-automatic rifles. Use these in open terrain, your SMG squads in close terrain, and your line rifle squads whenever you need something to fill the gap, and you'll do fine. Special note: Your AT is not very good, so you'll need to rely on the Osnaz teams to destroy heavily armoured German tanks. The Shermans, fortunately, can easily destroy anything smaller than a panther.
Potential Upgrades:
There are a few more tank cards available that you might want, and the division could easily lose some of its mortars; no-one actually needs 36 mortars. especially not with 6 supply trucks As with the previous two 'mechanized' divisions, 9th Gds Cavalry has a strong early game but no real way to fight late game panther hordes, so an early focused Vanguard build is recommended.
Infantry Divisions
Division: 26th Guards Rifle
Deck Code: DCRHmmCEIS1DwuOQP4VpQiLjmD+FaSJKVpkh4AFaIuOUycABIobjlihuORGyVpAbTjlBtuOYG045UCDjmQIOOQG245EngAFC0AARawABKiTlFCdgAYJ2ABRyAAGHIAAQqwACEJZWlCPOOUHgABgeAAEHMgAQi0ABSLQAEMnAAgw6ABHD4AIKuAAVsyAA
Gameplay tips:
As the class A Soviet rifle division, 26th Guards has all of the cool toys you might want. Heavy tanks that are close to being as good as the Tiger against the lower tier medium tanks? Check. The ISU-152 that obliterates any soft target with ease? Check. Super-heavy radio-controlled artillery pieces that aim in an extremely short amount of time and can stun infantry units by landing shells 100 m behind them? Check. SMG squads that dual-wield flamethrowers?
Essentially, anything you might want for attacking, you've got it. On the defensive, things aren't so good, your AA tab is quite weak, your AT tab is quite weak, and while the tank tab is good at bullying low tier German tanks, it won't stand up well against the Panther hordes that await. A final tip on the 203 mm; your only radio source is the Vzvod UPR leader unit, so keep him safe. As well, the 203 mm is unarmoured and easily destroyed with counterbattery fire. I would recommend placing all 4 guns in 4 widely spaced locations so that A) there isn't a juicy cluster of artillery tracers to CB, and B) if you do get CB-ed, you only lose one gun. Another tip is that while the guns fire 4 shells in a salvo, one is often enough (especially if all 4 guns are bound to the same control group). What I usually do is issue the fire command, wait for the guns to fire, then use my Z key to turn on "hold fire". Unless your opponent really doesn't have much to do, their counterbattery loop will typically involve seeing shells hit his units, zooming his camera out to see your back-line, and then pin-pointing the firing location. If you only ever fire 1 round per gun per target, a typical opponent will find it very hard to successfully counterbattery.
Potential Upgrades:
I feel like this division is actually pretty good as is There are a few sub-optimal units I threw in for fun, now that you've gotten to this point, maybe you'd like to try and figure out what they are? ;)
Division: 44th Guards Rifle
Deck code: DCRImkCEIS0DmlaZAg45gbTjkW1EFQG046QbbjmWwgARGyVpIkpWkqJFaYP4VpQSEcFHIAAhCWVpQjzjkmwgAUEa5lARrmWLVgAQHsABA/hWlVNgAUPC45QiLjmSNxbQVM46CrgAIcPgAQiiABSKIAFWwgAWa+ACDDoAEVNgAUtWABUbJWg=
Gameplay tips:
In a lot of ways, this division is a slightly less flashy version of 26th Guards Rifle. That being said, "less flashy" is certainly not a bad thing. Unlike 26th GRD, you don't have the same number of extremely powerful, but also very specialized units. Instead, you get a bunch of solid replacements. In your tank tab you have a nice selection of T-34-85 medium tanks; not as exciting as the KV-85, but you get a good number more of them. Your SU-152 doesn't have the fearsome AP shell of the ISU-152, but it also costs only 75 pts and has the same ability to completely destroy any soft target with ease. Your AA tab also has a nice selection of reasonably costed AA pieces, something 26th GRD can only dream of. Overall, you're a more well-rounded division that is well suited for whatever situation you might get yourself into, unless its fighting hordes of panthers, in which case you'll wish you had the ISU-152 still.
Potential upgrades:
As I said before, I think I actually did a rather good job with the rifle divisions, with them being quite playable in this configuration. However, you'll likely wish to decrease the veterancy on your T-34-85's to get a bit more availability. The artillery tab is also likely a bit heavy.
Division: 184th Rifle
Deck Code: DCRHGoCEIS0GYuOQTsB1hmLjmQIOOVAg45ECDjoKuAAQEa5lA/hWkKsAARw4ABQjccIQllaUI845QnQAGCdAAUPC45QiLjlD+FaVZgPpgi8cGD+FaQJ0ABQRrmWLRAAocgACRmTjkqJOUUcgABTB4AFHTgAQfcABR9wAIMOgASJIVqHD4AEWYD6RaSABQR8cEbNFaA==
Gameplay tips:
Just as with Group Tyurin above, one of the hidden bonuses of 184th Rifle division is that rather than using gvardiya, you get to use strelki, and strelki dp are awesome. In an ideal situation, you'll want to find a section of the map which is heavily wooded or urban, and grind down your opponent using your enormous quantity of riflemen. Your large collection of artillery pieces will ensure any infantry push will struggle to make progress, and with the plentiful anti-tank grenades your soldiers have access to, tanks that attempt to force their way into your defensive position will soon regret it. Special note should be taken of the Valentine IX, which has both an extremely powerful AT gun that will shred any lightly armoured enemy tanks, but also has absolutely no anti-infantry weapons. britain, pls In the anti-tank tab are 7 ISU-122 heavy tank destroyers. Statistically speaking, in a long range fight between one of these and a Tiger or Panther, the ISU-122 has an advantage. However, as you only have 7 (8-10 if you want to change the phases), you'll want to ensure that you use a bit of micromanagement to keep them safe. +2 vet using both a leader and commander will do wonders for them, and a nearby mortar ready to break line of sight using smoke will be vital if the enemy decides to attack en masse.
Potential upgrades:
The artillery tab is far too heavy on light mortars (although it is really funny having 24 82 mm mortars on the field at once), and it would be desirable to replace them with more useful units. Taking the other M-20 card as well as either the artillerist or Vzvod UPR will let you greatly increase your potential artillery firepower, even as you cut more cards than you add. As well, I left out the M3 Lee because I found it aesthetically displeasing to have up to 9 of them on the field with 3 184th RD battlegroups in a game, but if you think about it, its probably a mandatory inclusion.

Treant Protector – Natures Guise active, overgrowth and talent suggestions.

Hello folks, as you know Treant Protector has taken a substantial winrate hit from 7.20 due to his natures guise rework and root nerf. His wr went from about 50,5% on dotabuff in 7.19 to about 46,50% in 7.20. So something has to be done.
The primary reason for this seems be:
  1. Natures guise root no longer pierces BKB.
  2. NG root and ultimate root no longer stop channeling abilities.
  3. Natures guise rework: “Taking player based damage while visible resets the delay”.
Even with the Natures guise bonus damage and tree phase walking buffs, this was enough to cripple his viability substantially. Instead of attempting to revert or change these updates, I think we should rather accept them and look at a different way to increase his winrate. I suggest tinkering with his ultimate and Natures guise. Whether these changes should be implemented directly, tuned down/up, or added via new talents for balance purposes is another debate. These suggestions are about improving the functionality of the hero.
Suggestion 1: Natures Guise.
-Active- component:
50 mana. 50 sec CD.Apply basic dispel and disarm to self for Natures Guise current fade time. (4, 3.5, 3, 2.5 sec)
If Treant is within a 265 radius of living or dead trees, he turns invisible with 0,25 fade time. Dead trees are regrown within his search radius. Reduce the cooldown of the active down to 10 sec. if a tree is regrown.
Visually representation of AOE(350 radius, so it would be a bit smaller than this)
No trees: https://imgur.com/a/uFcoTJK
Regrown trees: https://imgur.com/a/rdRBNBF
This would give Treant an option to slip away even when taking player damage, even in a place where trees formerly got removed. It also gives him a way to regrow trees in key areas in the laning stage, besides the lvl 15 talent. A bad player would have a long CD and die the next time he is engaged. A good one would use his the active near dead trees to decrease the CD. The reason it applies disarm to self for 4 to 2,5 sec is to avoid it being used strictly offensively: Natures Guise->attack->use active->immediately attack again for double root/damage.
This skill may require a level 15 talent rework of the “2s tree respawn time”. Since constantly respawning trees, would make this active rarely trigger its low CD.
Suggestion 2: Overgrowth
After the root mechanic nerf, overgrowth has become especially underwhelming, as it received no buffs to compensate.
Overgrowth:
Instantly regrows 50% of dead trees and grows new (happy?) trees randomly within the overgrowth radius. 5/6/7 grown. They have a 5 min duration. Can be regrown by natures guise active ability within these 5 min.
---
Instead of a root buff, or tinkering with damage or the CD. A functionality buff to Treants Natures guise would be better, since more trees improve his mobility. This change also works well with his Eyes of the forest aghs skill.
Whether to implement these directly or via talents, is up for debate. His talents aren’t the most interesting anyway. While his “2s tree respawn time” is a decently interesting talent, it does have the weakness of being purely passive and not skill dependent. Making his toolkit more about the act of regrowing trees, or growing new ones, not only fits his theme and story, but could also have a lot of potential for fun gameplay.
What kind of new talents could be interesting for him? Feel free to brainstorm. :)
I'll throw some in myself:
Talent 15 or 20: Overgrowth applies current level of living armor to all allied heroes within the radius. Also applies to Eye of the forest area.
Last mention. His current "+2sec natures guise root" is in same way a nerf, since the new added damage is applied over the extended duration. Which results in deceased dmg per sec.

Thx for reading.

Publication- “Everyday Acts of Resurgence" to be released Feb. 1, 2018.

I have received prior permission from mods to post this information.
Intercontinental Cry is pleased to announce the imminent publication of "Everyday Acts of Resurgence: People, Places, Practices".
More than 12 months in making, this new book features twenty-two powerful works by the faculty and students of Indigenous Governance (IGOV) at the University of Victoria and the Indigenous Politics Program (UHIP) at the University of Hawai’i, Mānoa.
In 2015, IGOV and UHIP came together on Oʻahu to engage in land and water-based cultural practices and to strategize around future mobilizations for community resurgence. They organized their time together around the theme, “Piko: A Convergence of Resurgence.” The Kanaka Maoli word, piko, has several meanings, including the navel on a human body, the summit of a mountain, or other places of convergence. These “three Pʻs” became the organizing structure for this book.
Contributors to the book include: Lianne Charlie, Jeff Corntassel, Taiaiake Alfred, Noelani Goodyear–Ka‘opua, Noenoe K. Silva, Hokulani Aikau, Devi Mucina, Dibikgeezhigokwe, Erynne M. Epilogue: What hath mankind wrought!
Caubac Alcatraz, my dear friend,
I want to personally thank you for what you did in Eastern-Europe. Though I know your hand was forced, it does not diminished what you accomplish and, for that, you have my gratitude. Other than you, there is none that I would trust to forge the Beast-sealing Labyrinth.
I have received your concern and understand your reservation; I agree that this is only a temporary measure. There is no way to keep the Beast permanently sealed. Even I know better than to ask the impossible from you. As long as there is malice in the heart of humankind, as long as that dark side of Alaya exist, it is an inevitability that Beast will some day break free.
Yet, even if the only thing we've gotten is time, that may be just the thing we need.
It is troubling that Beast has been granted great power and authority. Doubly so that it has 'super advantage' over the spirits of Gaia; like a twisted reflection of that Demonic Dog's absolute priority. And yet, that is also its weakness. As the success of your labyrinth have shown, the priority does not apply against one of human origin. Alaya and Gaia have grown separate and, though Beast is unbeatable by the latter, the former may still strike at its core.
That is why we must trust in the Counterforce: the self-preserving will of the world. Its machination has begun, of that there is no question, but the spiral will only ever exert enough energy to squash the threat at hand. Perhaps it is not yet ready to act. Perhaps the Counterforce needed more time and, by nudging you to the craft the labyrinth, that is exactly what it has bought.
In that sense you, too, did your part as an agent of the world.
I am confident that Counter Guardians will be mobilized; the stakes are high enough that Alaya will not hold back. In fact, I am also confident that it will succeed. Beast has no priority over Counter Guardians; the possibility of victory is definitively non-zero. And since the Counterforce always exert just enough strength to overcome a threat, the Counter Guardians it chooses will be just the one to prevail.
Perhaps that is why we need more time. Perhaps the right Guardian is not yet ready to be called. Perhaps patience is exactly the kind of strength we need right now. The future is uncertain, dear friend, but you know that when I speak of uncertainty I speak true. It is not yet certain that the Land of Steel is our destined future. This threat, like many others, we will overcome.
Until then, I will not meddle in the machinery of the Counterforce lest I invoke its ire myself. I ask that you do the same. Trust in Alaya. Trust in the Counter Guardian. Trust that the will of humanity is brilliant enough to overcome its own darkness. What malice mankind hath wrought, by its nobility will be unwrought!
After all, is this not what our effort has always been about?
In trying times I remain, yours truly, Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg
