Why is Stadia such a punching bag among gamers?

So I've been reflecting on Stadia as a service while trying to sell my premiere kit on Kijiji(planning to get back on Stadia after CCwGTV support). I offered to explain a couple potential buyers how it works and how they can test for free with a pro trial before making the purchase. They were actually pretty impressed how it ran on their laptop pretty smoothly and with their own PS4 controllers.
Which brings me to this post. Do people not understand that this is legit the best thing to happen to gaming since online play? Sometimes I think we forget how far we've come as a society in terms of technology because we're living in it. If you told me 10-15 years ago that I had the flexibility of being able to play streamed next gen games on any potato laptop/phone with no input lag for a small monthly fee, I'd join in a heartbeat.
Yes the library sucks for now but its getting better everyday and always available as a neutral option even if you own next gen consoles. With services like Xbox Gamepass, its clear flexible cloud gaming is the future so why people are choosing to have an expensive middle man is something I don't understand. The only reason I can think of is for exclusives which is fair and will probably be a reason I buy one of these consoles eventually when theyre cheaper. But as a patient and casual gamer, I'm completely fine with Stadia for now and hope it sticks around.
The only criticism I have for Stadia is that there should be an option to download the game for life for offline play. It should be your responsibility as the owner of the game to ensure you have the hardware to run it if you want to play offline. If I pay $80 for a game like steampunk and theres a month I dont feel is worth paying Stadia for, I feel I should atleast have access to it offline. With that being said, this is a minor inconvenience I'm willing to put up with for fact that we live in an age where we can freakin stream next gen games on minimal hardware.
EDIT: So TIL that you don't actually need a Stadia Pro membership to actually play games you purchased before:
What happens to the games that I purchased if my Stadia Pro subscription or trial subscription ends? You'll still be able to access and play the games that you purchased when you no longer have an active Stadia Pro subscription. Note that non-subscribers can stream games only up to 1080p resolution and 60 FPS.

Ps4 split screen error 42.

(Global problem after new update - seems like we need to be patient for a fix on developers side) Hi, ive been playing alot of Rocket League offline lately with my girlfriend trying to teach her the game. When i descided she wad good enough we headed into an online 2v2 or 3v3 casual and it briefly lets us into the game for at millisecond then crashes the match sending us back to main menu with the error code 42 (connectivity issues). I have tried restarting my ps4, reinstalling rocket league, restarting my router, resetting my router and now i am here. We can match offline no problem and one person can match online but not both of us. As soon as we start a casual online game with 2 controllers in the lobby it crashes. I am running a stable 300/300 upload/download with ethernet on my ps4. Would love it if someone had a clue. Btw the epic friend remove thing doesent work either (related to old bug). Ty very much.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about graphics?

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing well during this Covid-19 crisis and take care of all of your family and friends!
I have been a gamer since my young childhood, and I love them since it is a good way to relax when I am stressed. I will always defend video games for the positive effects they can have on our minds.

Why I am writing this?

I have noticed something really severe: most people now care only about graphics. They want to know which is the most powerful between PS5 and XBOX Series X. And they will buy only games with beautiful graphics. I am playing newer and older games, and I feel like why people care about graphics. I have been playing Super Mario World and Super Metroid on the Switch's SNES Online, and it was more rewarding and satisfying than most nowadays games I have been playing. By seeing how the gaming community behaves, I believe it tends to focus only on graphics and nothing else. When I want to buy a game, I don't even care about the graphics, and I have the feeling I am the only one who focuses on gameplay, music, art style, etc. Am I the only one?

The Delusion about FPS/Graphics

At least 20 or 30 FPS is good. I understand if someone wants to play at 60 FPS, but this should not be mandatory in my opinion. And then who cares about 120 fps or 240 fps? Your eyes don't even see the difference. I know sometimes games need some precise input so my best compromise would be 30 FPS for offline and relax games, and 60 FPS for online games with tournaments for example. I don't understand when people tend to buy the best resources for their PC. Games don't need 8K and 240 fps to be enjoyable. But yeah, this is your money and you do whatever you want with it, I am not your mother ;).

The most powerful is NOT the winner

If you look at each "war" generation console, the most powerful console always failed. But remember that there were never console war. Only one during Nintendo and SEGA during the beginning of the 1990s. Sony VS Microsoft is nothing compared to what happened then.

Graphics is different than Art Style

Don't confuse graphics and art style. the Pokémon series, or Zelda: Breath of the Wild, has awful graphics but an awesome art style. The games have bad graphics, but the character design, the level design, the way everything is drawn is beautiful. However, we are not talking about art style here.

People who tell me Graphics are important

If you are going to tell me graphics are essential because when you play, you need to look at a fantastic landscape. A video game is something you play through. If you just sit and look at the landscape, I'm sorry but this is not a video game since you are not playing, this is just panorama. This is not playing, you just watch beautiful pictures. Photography is different than video games, even both are considered art. I would ask you what is a video game for you? For me, a video game is the gaming interaction between the human and the video of a machine. No questions about graphics. This is called a video game, and not video watching or anything like that. If you need to look at beautiful backgrounds, you can go on Google Images, and look for high-resolution pictures (Settings > Advanced Research).

Games with bad Graphics are Bad?

My favorite question to beat the people who only care about graphics is: Why retrogaming exists if graphics are so important? This is not nostalgia or anything like that, I am born during the Gamecube/PS2 era and I didn't even know how the 1980s or the 1990s were in terms of video games. (I wish I could have been here when Final Fantasy VII and Pokémon Red/Blue were released). And can you tell why Minecraft is the best selling game of all time?

Conclusion

To conclude, of course, I agree this is cool if you have good graphics, but people need to stop worship graphics and giving all of their attention to this instead of focusing on gameplay, music, etc. This should not be a criterion to define the quality of a game in my opinion. Can someone tell me this is just me who is a toxic hater, or if someone feels like me? Maybe I am just stupid so I would like that someone can correct the wrong things that I believe in.
Thanks a lot for reading my very long message and have fun playing the wonderful video games we can have in 2021! Remember video games are the most prolific media, far ahead of the cinema or the books.
TL;DR: Am I the only one who is noticing people only care about graphics? I want to know if I am just a toxic hater who doesn't understand what the gaming industry needs right now, or if I am on the contrary smart enough to understand video games are not based only on graphics.

The Ultimate guide for OFFLINE features, split-screen, Bots, LAN Play in Cold War

1.11 UPDATE NEW FEATURES ZOMBIES HAS SPLIT SCREEN OFFLINE NOW!

1.11 update news

-Zombies now allows 2 player split-screen in offline, you can add a controller as well as start/boot the match fine, however the same issues persist with offline split-screen, visual/menu glitches/bugs just like the normal multiplayer split-screen
-Multiplayer offline split-screen is working again, it seems to have all the same issues it had prior to the 1.09 update where it got broken, rough menus, class selection not working in certain scenarios, I've also found Nuketown 84 in split-screen will crash every time it loads into the match...etc etc.
- RAID and PINES map are available offline now
-Prop hunt is available offline now, however no bot support.

1.10 update - literally nothing added for offline

1.09 update - literally nothing added for offline

KNOWN MAJOR OFFLINE ISSUES/BUGS all present in latest 1.08 'season one' version (tested on PS4/PS5) Please read these as it may answer some questions instead of posting a comment.

*NEW BUG/GLITCH as of V.08\*
- V1.08 you can no longer play split-screen offline, when adding player 2, it will attempt to add player 2 and just fail each time....
- when playing split-screen multiplayer (versus) player 2 can do create-a-class but only edit the main weapon, they can not edit any attachments
- when playing split-screen multiplayer (versus) often player 2 can not select a class when starting the match at all.

- offline zombies has no option for split-screen or adding a controller when playing offline period (unsure if this is a glitch or the fact zombies has no split-screen option offline at all
- online zombies, has the option to add a second player for split-screen, but even when you do this the game won't launch and will often come up with a error stating this mode has exceeded the maximum amount of players, (unsure if ths is a glitch or the fact zombies isn't supposed to be split-screen at all)
- Search and Destroy and VIP Escort modes, do not support offline bots at all
- the maps Armada and Crossroads do not support offline bots at all currently for any mode
- the maps Armada and Crossroads have a small variant for normal modes, however when playing VIP escort mode only, you get the full expanded large scale combined arms map (with vehicles) however again no offline bot support, unsure if this is a glitch or not.
- various interface/menu bugs within the menus/lobbys
- multiple instances of glitches when playing in split-screen, gunsights missing/notloading, hands dissappearing etc etc.
- multiple settings not working, loadout restrictions settings completely broken and not working right, guns misnamed, M82 is called the XM4 etc and turning off or enabling what is supposed to be the M82 turns off both or enables both the M82 and XM4, really broken.
- I have to do more testing but I've had two instances on PS5 where my campaign save will dissappear completely after playing split-screen multiplayer.
- unsure if a glitch or designed this way.
If you find any bugs/issues or fixes that I haven't do let me know in the comments or flick me a PM, Finding new stuff every time I play it.
I'll endeavour to keep this guide updated over the next couple of months, do be with me as I can't update EXACTLY on time every time a new update comes out..
All testing done with the PS4 and PS5 version of the game (v1.03) (now updated to V1.07)
I have updated the game now to V1.05, I can confirm nothing has changed for offline with this update, what is down below is still current including no OFFLINE split-screen option for Zombies and the Crossroads/Armada maps still do not support bots.
I now have the PS4 as well as the PS5 version of the game, It's exactly the same, nothing additional, no extra bots/maps/modes/features, exactly the same issues, exactly the same stuff.
Some people are asking about the Dualsense for it, it's neat, the guns all feel slightly different, so the resistive triggers have different 'pulls' for different weapons, big LMGs the aiming trigger is a slow steady pull where as a pistol is very lightweight and barely any resistance, the vibration stuff, pretty standard, although again every gun feels a little different, nothing mind blowing, but neat feature. Astros Playroom on the other hand is amazing for the dualsense.
All testing done on PS4 Pro and PS5, running in an offline environment, no internet on the console, boot from cold startup, booting up Black Ops Cold War OFFLINE and playing OFFLINE.
This guide is aimed at people who enjoy the offline part of Call of Duty (yes there are people like us) If you play online thats fine, no need to make a stupid comment like "why are you playing offline in 2020 what a loser etc etc"
I've done this for several years, this guide is for fans of offline play and aimed to get CORRECT information to people who need it

FAQ Starts here

What do you mean when you use the word OFFLINE?
To clear up any confusion as many people seem to confuse the terms OFFLINE and LOCAL PLAY, these are two VERY different things.
If I use the word OFFLINE in this guide at any point, I mean OFFLINE, no internet on the console, no WiFi, no Ethernet, Console as well as game has been cold booted with NO INTERNET WHATSOEVER.
Can you play Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War OFFLINE without an internet connection?
Yes once your game is at version 1.03 (latest current version at time of release) You can play the game fully offline.
Like Modern Warfare 2019, the game is quite large (100.4GB for PS4 at of time of writing) It also like Modern Wafare 2019 is divided into PACKS
The Base game has the following PACKS, which you need to have installed if you want to play every mode available.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Single Player LicenseCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer License
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies License
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 1
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Multiplayer Base Install
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Zombies Base Install
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Dead Ops Arcade Pack
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Content 1 - 6 License (1 file for each) ( I believe this is just DLC stuff)
The console versions like WWII, Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare 2019 will work OFFLINE after patching/updating, the PC version however due to Battlenet is ONLINE ONLY, even for Campaign/offline bots.
Can you install and play Black Ops Cold War from the disc without installing any updates/patches?
No you can not, like Call of Duty WWII, Black Ops 4, and Modern Warfare 2019 before it, the physical copies of the game do not contain all the files nor can you play the full experience OFFLINE via the disc only, you can only play a few multiplayer maps vs bots, thats it.
*A MANDATORY INSTALLATION/UPDATE IS REQUIRED FIRST\*
Can you play the Campaign OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games campaign will be playable OFFLINE.
Can you play the multiplayer (versus) OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games multiplayer will be playable OFFLINE.
Can you play the Zombies mode OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games multiplayer will be playable OFFLINE.
**Can you play the Zombies Onslaught mode OFFLINE? (exclusive to PS4/PS5 for 1 year)**yes
Is there Split-screen support in mutliplayer versus?
Versus Multiplayer has 2 players split-screen per console maximum
Is there split-screen support in Zombies?
EDIT: Version 1.11 has finally added the ability to play zombies OFFLINE split-screen, however its still rough, but it does work.
Is there co-op campaign or split-screen campaign?
Campaign is single player only.

What does the aspect ratio for split-screen look like? Is there any 'black bars' on the sides?
Split-screen for multiplayer versus has both Vertical and Horizontal options.
Horizontal split-screen (TOP and BOTTOM) has black bars on the left and right.Vertical split-screen (LEFT and RIGHT) has black bars on the top and bottom.
Is there OFFLINE LAN support, (2 or more systems connected offline for multiplayer) ?
You can play 2 players PER CONSOLE in multiplayer versus. Zombies is ONE PER CONSOLE currently, LAN is broken though unless you go online and download temporary hotfixes, so basically you need all consoles to be online, connected to servers, get hotfixes (so every game/console is on the same version and then it will work) this is the exact same issue Modern Warfare has. Its stupid. true proper OFFLINE LAN play is pretty much broken in the last two CODs.

OFFLINE BOT SUPPORT

Is there offline bot (AI Enemies/teammates) support?Which modes support them? How many Bots per mode?
Yes there are offline bots
you can have a total of 12 players in each core game mode, so if playing SOLO, you can have 11 bots.
I can confirm if playing split-screen you can still have 11 bots in the game total.Previous versions of the game only supported 7 bots in TDM and FFA game modes, this was fixed in V1.07. all modes support 11 bots.
you can not add bots to the Crossroads or Armada maps at all.
VIP Escort and Search and Destroy game modes do not support offline bots.
Can you make assymetrical/uneven teams?
Yes, however you can't go over the maximum of 6 players per each team,
So you can't for example do a team death match with you on one team vs 11 bots on the other team.
6 v 6 max
How many players can play each mode? (assume bots means players too here)
2 REAL players in split-screen and up to 11 bots (6 players/bots per team)
Edit: I didn't notice before as I mainly play objective modes not FFA or Team Deathmatch,
If you play Free-for-all or Team Deathmatch the bots cap at 7, not 11
What difficulties are there for the bots?
Recruit, Regular, Hardened, Veteran
are there loadout restrictions and can we force the bots to use certain loadouts?
There is an option for loadout restrictions in the menu, however It dosen't affect bots, you can turn off custom classes but sadly there again is no option to set what the DEFAULT classes are (like how Modern Warfare Remastered allows)
Right now the restrictions screen is VERY broken, half of the weapons are sharing the same name, for example the M82 Sniper rifle is incorrectly labelled as the XM4 (assault rifle) I turned off EVERYTHING but the M82 but it has the XM4 enabled (as its obviously broken) I have turned off everything but the XM4 and there are still weapons that are accessible.
So hard one to test right now, It's restricting some weapons but I can only tell from the player side no the bot side, Patches are needed to test this feature properly.
are there friendly/teammate bots for Zombies mode?
No there are no friendly AI/teammates/bots in Zombies mode.
What are the bots like, and how do they play?
I've had a quick go (I'll update this more later) but they feel like how they did in MW 2019.

Create-a-Class/Loadouts/Customisation

Is there an offline progression system? or is everything unlocked for offline play?
There is no offline progression system, everything is unlocked from the start, all attachments, gear, weapons etc is available offline from the start
What about customisation/camos etc?
Yes you can apply camos, change reticles offline, it looks like everything is unlocked here
What is available in offline create-a-class?
A ton, I'll add a video in the comments later with a showcase of everything, it's comparable to how MW was at launch.
How many custom classes can you have? can you save/rename them?
You can have 5 custom classes per player offline, yes you can rename/save them.
What Operators are available offline?
All launch Operators are available offline
NATO:
Mil-Sim:
HunterSong
Operators:
ParkAdlerBakerSimsWoods
Warsaw Pact
Mil-Sim:
VargasPowers
Operators:
PortnovaBeckGarciaStone

Multiplayer VERSUS

What game modes are available offline?
Team DeathmatchFree-For-AllSearch & DestoryDominationHardpointControlVIP Escort
What about the Larger Combined Arms modes?
Although the maps like Crossroads (which was the big snowy map in the beta with snowmobiles etc) are here, these are not the combined arms versions, these are smaller cut down versions of these maps, you can only do 6 v 6 in offline.
Is there a realism mode? or Hardcore Mode?
No realism mode, there is no hardcore 'mode' like MW2019, however there are Hardcore versions of TDM, FFA, SND, and DOM.
What multiplayer maps are available?
ArmadaCartelCheckmateCrossroadsGarrisonMiamiMoscowSatelliteNuketown 84 (added for offline in update V1.07)
What interesting custom game settings are there? anything different/new?
Nothing out of the ordinary, all pretty standard fare at launch.
Can I save custom game modes OFFLINE?
Yes you can save them.

Zombies

Is everything unlocked for create-a-class?
Yes, everything is unlocked, it's the same weapon selection from multiplayer versus, however you get 1 weapon, not 2, and a field upgrade which are zombies themed special powers.
Is there settings like in Black Ops 4, where you could adjust zombies/custom game settings?
Sadly no, it seems very scaled back more like the normal zombies modes from the older Black Ops games.
What modes are available for zombies offline?
Round based (standard zombies)Dead Ops arcade 3 (top down twin-stick shooter mini game mode)Onslaught (PS4/PS5 Exclusive for 1 year)
What maps/scenarios are available for offline zombies?
Round based (standard zombies)
Die Maschine
**Dead Ops Arcade 3 (mini game)**Rise of the Mamaback
Onslaught
Moscow (same as the multiplayer Moscow map....just with zombies)
What is onslaught mode anyway?
so its basically a VIP escort thing, you have a floating orb, that has a protective cirlce around it, you need to stay in the circle to live, zombies come at you, you shoot em, orb moves to a new location, rinse and repeat. Neat but you aren't missing much if you are a PC/Xbox player.

Some tests regarding online connection.

People are wondering how they can have a great connection and yet the game still feels slow online. Here are some tests I've done with friends in other countries.
Your connection might be great if you do a speedtest with your phone but move a few rooms further and ping a different isp in your country. You will see that the ping will increase. Now assuming your opponent is not in a neighbor country the ping between the isp's will be higher and combined with the wifi delay the game will play badly.
My friends and I are hardcore pes gamers. That's all we play. I'm in Greece with a 200mbps connection, my friends are in London(200mbps) and Holland(200mbps). We tested the connection in multiple environments.
I pinged their ip directly from my wired pc. The ping was 55-60 and the game played flawlessly on my wired ps4. Literally like offline.
Then I removed the cable from my pc and did a ping, it only increased by 3 but when I removed the cable from the ps4 the game still played good but at times it stuttered and felt sluggish.
Then my friend in the UK removed his cable from the ps4 and we both played on wireless. Game didn't have a lag indicator but players felt like they were running in mud and turned like trucks. That's the feeling I have in most games I play.
Then I took my laptop 3 rooms away from my router and did a ping test. The ping increased by 10-15 and it fluctuated. In Greece we have concrete walls. I moved the ps4 to my bedroom tv which is 3 rooms away from my router and my friend put the wire back on. The game was horrible. There was a lag indicator and the game stuttered and even paused for a few seconds.
Now you think all those kids that have a ps4 in their room have the router next to them? No way. The router is probably in the living room which is a floor down or 3 rooms away.
My experience with this game is if the ping is up to 70 the game plays fine, 70 to 90 its heavy, 90+ is unplayable.
Consider that many many people especially in some underdeveloped countries share a Wi-Fi connection with many others in a building. Others live in remote locations where the internet is still outdated. In my country for instance we have so many islands that the speeds are still 10mbps and very low quality internet and many people from there play pes.
Most games will play well up to 100ms but let's not forget this engine is quiet old. I'm quite sure the new Unreal engine will perform much better and will solve this problem as it's optimized for online gaming.
Here's an image of Konamis manual that they don't recommend you playing on Wi-Fi.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Just received a temporary suspension from Sony for having somebody else activate the PS+ collection on their PS5.

Met a guy on this subreddit that was activating the collection for people for free and I decided to hop onto the bandwagon. Guess he activated it for too many people.
And before you guys start commenting: Did I know it was gonna be a bad idea and I'd probably get caught? Yes.
Was it worth it? / Would I do it again? Well, I know this sounds stupid, but honestly it kind of was worth it. I got to play a bunch of games I never had the opportunity or money to try before and I actually had my PS4 offline before the suspension was issued so I still have the crap ton of games that I downloaded from the collection and they're working for now. Plus, I have a couple of games I borrowed from friends that I can play offline for the time being. However, as contradictory as it sounds, I wouldn't do it again if I could considering I miss out on 4 of the PS+ free games for January and February. (That is if the rumors are right and the suspension is only two months, I don't know yet, haven't received the e-mail from Sony.)
So I guess the moral of this story is don't be greedy and dumb like me and just do stuff the legit way.
TL;DR: Decided to have somebody activate the ps+ collection for me for free and I just got suspended. Thought I would just give a short warning.
Edit 1: Still no email response from Sony and looks like the playstation chat service is currently offline for me in the U.S.
Edit 2: After pestering the live support chat twice, I found somebody who said that they elevated my case to somebody else and that I should check for an email within the next 24 hours.
Edit 3: So Playstation's support team just seems to be non-existent when it comes to getting an email response and I kind of feel like giving up and hoping that it's going to be 14 days only.
Edit 4: Well, after 14 days without any communication, my account is back up and reinstated. All of the games from the collection are still there and seem playable for now but a couple people have been saying that we lose access to the collection after a day or two so if that's the case I think I'm just going to download as many of the games as I can that I wanted to play and just keep my ps4 offline for as long as possible.
Also, I'd appreciate it if a couple of you let me know if your accounts have been reinstated as well and keep me updated on whether or not you lose access to the games.

What are the age restrictions on online play (PS4 specific)

I'm so fed up. Spent all day trying to get my son's account online to play MD on his birthday, only to continually hit a brick wall. Reading through this thread from 8 months ago, it sounds like the same issue. I just don't get why there's zero information about this *anywhere*. No where do Sony, Microsoft or Mojang state that the game has a different age threshold for online play versus the offline play. The only official rating is from PEGI which have it clearly stated as not for under 7's here.
Yes, I get that online gaming is a scary world and without the proper checks and balances, children could be exposed to things they shouldn't be. But we have such checks and balances in place to prevent him doing anything he shouldn't. We trust him to only play online with people he trusts (namely just his cousin and a friend from school), and that's been fine on android tablet - and from reading online, fine on Xbox and Nintendo too. Just Sony somehow being d***s about it.
Appreciate this is mainly a rant after spending 5 hours of my sons birthday trying to get him online, but if anyone does have any suggestions (besides 'let him use your adult account') I'm all ears. Likewise, if anyone knows - and can link to - any specific age restrictions for online play I'd really appreciate seeing them.

LOCAL CO-OP BUG WORKAROUND DISCOVERED!

THE BUG...
We bought this for my kids for Christmas and on the first play (offline, non-ps+ accounts) they were able to play co-op just fine. The next time they played no one from any profile from any controller was able to join a local co-op game. Connecting a controller is recognized and it then says to press the L3 joystick button to join, but there's no response, no matter which button is pressed. There's no way to join in local co-op, whether from main menu or from the campfire. Only single player works.
Clearly something about the patch downloaded vs non-patched game is causing this problem as local co-op worked fine prior to updating to latest patch. It was a huge letdown for my kids who have wanted this game all year, were able to play it once, and then it's like the rug got pulled out from under them.
This bug seems to be inconsistent across systems, as some people don't have this problem at all, while I still see plenty of posts around the net and comments even on here (esp after Christmas from a wave of new game purchases) expressing the same issue. I have a 1st generation PS4 but the latest system patch.
THE WORKAROUND...
When I am at the character selection, before I enter the game, I go into settings, select game, and select the cross-platform action. Then I back out to the character selection and now I can hit L3 and the second player is added. I tested this multiple times and have been successful 100% of the time.
My kids are now able to play the game together again and they are very happy!
Here's hoping Mojang still fixes this silly bug for such a basic, fundamental part of the game, and I don't know how this got through QC, but this workaround is relatively quick and easy and should suffice, for now.

The Future of GBVS: Predictions on what I think will happen

There are alot of doom and gloom threads but honestly those are pretty standard for anime fighters. Granblue is not doing as bad as people think. It debuted as the top seller on its release as reported by Famitsu last year.
The community is also split between PS4 and PC, while NA sees some empty lobbies (they are ok right now because Yuel), Japan is still pretty populous. The game also has a fairly large unsung casual player base. While hardcore fighters may not like it, the RPG mode and single player content is pretty significant full with unlocks and unique raid bosses. I know quite a few Granblue VS players that play that but don't necessary go online to get owned by high tier players that dominate the scene.
SALES AND PREDICTIONS:
Sales wise, GBVS was a success in both NA and Japan, mostly Japan. The game actually outsold some other significant ArcSys IPs (I cannot confirm but this may even include GGXRD:REV2, which is ArcSys' flagship).
Evidence: https://www.gematsu.com/2020/02/granblue-fantasy-versus-shipments-and-digital-sales-top-150000-in-japan-and-asia
Evidence 2: https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2020/ma28/granblue-fantasy-versus-sales-cross-200000-copies-japan-alone-cygames-announces/
So let's math this out:
59.99 x 200,000 (in just Japan) = $11,998,000. If there were 40 people working on this game with 50k salaries, your looking at 2,000,000 in overhead. Advertising in the US has been minimal, so your looking at just japan promotions. Even if this was 4,000,000 in costs you still have a pretty significant profit of several million -just in Japan. This is not counting NA, PC port, or season pass/microtransactions.
During interviews it was stated that the GBVS player base in Japan is an even split between GB mobile fans and fighting game players of varying skill levels. The GB japanese mobile community is absolutely rabid, large, supportive, and loves seeing their favorite characters get the ArcSys treatment.
Despite what people say, as a fighting game that has not seen a major price drop, GBVS is doing quite good. The fact that the price is still high and has not seen massive markdowns shows confidence from ArcSys and Cygames in GBVS's selling power.
The health of the hardcore fighting game and tournament scene (which has been fatalitied by COVID) is not a reflection of overall GBVS health.
Sales wise, I already think GBVS has done well enough to carry it all the way through S3's character pass.
CHARACTER PASS 2 AND 3:
GBVS will 100% get a 3rd character pass that will cover the "What makes the skies blue (WMTSB)" angel arc. After season pass 2, the story will shift to the Sandalphon and Lucillius to kick off and cover WMTSB. WMTSB is arguably the most memorable and epic story told in GB, there is no way that it won't make it into GBVS in some form. In fact I would say that the ENTIRE game is building up to GBVS' own flavor of WMTSB and the final face off between Sandalphon and Lucillius.
Predictions:
Season pass 2 after Anre we will get a random assortment of characters that don't necessarily fit into the story of the WMTSB.
When GBVS S3 drops Sandalphon will 100% be the flagship character just like Belial was for S2. This will rekindle the game and was always planned.
I do think S3 will be the last character pass to GBVS. With the first character being Sandalphon and the final character being the last boss (Lucillius) this neatly wraps up the game roster and full story. I fully believe that WMTSB as the final arc to conclude the story and roster of GBVS was always the original plan.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER GBVS IS COMPLETE?
Following GBVS and the WMTSB story, GBVS will be considered "complete" by Cygames and ArcSystem works. This was the plan and lines up with the release of GB:ReLink, which gives people who want to a medium between the mobile game and fighter with action combat a place to go.
GB:ReLink will release sometime in 22 and by the time GBVS ends, it will have establishment to accept more players interested in the GB world.
At this point we can expect to see a "complete edition" of GBVS go on sale which has all the content and the full roster. At this point and after this complete edition goes on sale, we can start seeing major discounts to the game (same thing happened to Street Fighter 5 with World Championship Edition).
WHAT ABOUT ROLLBACK?
GBVS has no chance on getting rollback outside of when the "complete" edition hits. Throughout the lifetime of the game, Cygames/Arksys will analyze the situation and make a decision on rollback. If any rollback will be added, it will be for the complete edition. The addition of rollback depends on how strongly the game is followed and its forecasted health when complete edition drops. By then a decision would have already be made and rollback would have been worked on for a significant time period.
DBZ Fighter Z is ArcSys's most successful game ever, with a playerbase of THOUSANDS not hundreds but THOUSANDS of players. If the technical limitations are preventing rollback in that game, which is heavily supported and bankrolled, prospects don't necessary look good for GBVS.
However, technology changes and there may be forms of rollback that are compatible with GBVS that require less work. We know ArcSys is experimenting with this on STRIVE.
If GBVS Complete does not have rollback, the prospects of the game officially getting rollback support will be significantly decreased and will need to be community driven.
What I mean by this is that just like GG:XX Accent Core + R and other older titles, the modding community will need to take matters into their own hands once complete edition is released and work it themselves. If there is enough interest, ArkSys/Cygames may step in.
ENDING THOUGHTS:
The future for GBVS looks relatively decent. Doom and gloom and spreading FUD don't necessary help the game. The game is not in any immediate danger of being discontinued or unsupported. It has a clear plan that has an end, and I fully believe it will reach that end.
What is important is how the community continues the game. The greatest contribution any player can make is to play, play online, support your scene (online + post COVID offline) and bring new players in.

My daughter and I just discovered this game a couple of weeks ago, and we have some questions.

Background: We're playing two-player split-screen on PS4. We each have our own PSN accounts, though we're playing the game from physical media.
Forgive the noob-ness...
  1. She started playing first. She logged into her account on the PS4 and started playing. A day or two later I logged into my account on the PS4 and started playing. She joined me in my game by picking up the second controller, logging in as her, then we switched back to my account (where Ark was already running) and she joined me — but when she joined me she had a brand new character, NOT the character she was already playing/using when she's playing solo. This seems dumb/not right to me. Aren't Ark characters tied to PSN identities? Given that she had to login under her identity (which has her PSN account attached to it) in order to play two-player with me, shouldn't the character she was playing while solo on her account be playable when she's playing two-player with me?
  2. Assuming the answer to #1 is "no, you idiot" then is there any way that characters can be made "independent" of whatever saved game you're playing in? For example, could I start a new game on a new part of the island while taking my (level 60) character with me? Could my daughter login to the PS4 under her account and start a new game on a new part of the island while taking her (level 60) character with her? I have a feeling that I'm thinking of this the wrong way, that characters aren't tied to PSN accounts but rather to the game that's being played, and that game is tied to the PSN account. Yes? No?
  3. I know that I can start a new game on a different map, effectively having two characters (one on each map). If I create a new game on the SAME map, will that wipe out my previous game? IOW, if I have a level 60 character on the island map and I create a new game on the ragnorak map, my new game has a new character. But if I have a level 60 character on the island map and I create a new game on the island map, will my level 60 character disappear?
  4. While playing two-player we're part of the same tribe. We've found that if one of us stays in our base and does nothing while the other person explores and crafts and does things, the player in the base earns a certain amount of "shared experience" and can conceivably level up by doing nothing. Is this cumulative even if the other player isn't online? IOW, if I started playing solo and earned "1000 experience points", then my daughter jumped into my game, will she gain that "partial credit" for the 1000 experience points that I earned while she was offline? Or does that "partial credit" only happen when she's in the game while I'm earning the experience?
Thanks.

Stadia vs xcloud / game pass ultimate vs ps now / remote play vs Luna

Hello Stadians,
First post here. I joined the cult not long ago after extensive research and since my post on red flag deals about Stadia has gained much traction, I decided to post it here for future Stadians or people who might be interested. Information is spread out across many sources, so I am trying to bring all current cloud services together into one giant post. If you want to spread the message to people who are on the fence, please use this post as you like, you are free to share this. Please correct me if I got anything wrong since I am still new to the game. Here goes :
PART #1 :
Stadia is still very new to a lot of people but have gained quite a bit of attention recently due to Google freely handing out hardware. However, it is still largely misunderstood.
Unlike what many people think there it's either one or the other, Stadia is so versatile that it can complement anything (ps5, xbox, pc, mobile gaming). It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can sub, or you can just buy a game and play it whenever and wherever you want as long as you have a stable Internet connection.
The most important thing is to test it out for FREE. Go on your chrome browser, log in with your gmail account, and click on Destiny 2. No downloads, no load times, no patches, no wait times, no hidden fees, no hardware requirements, just play it for free indefinitely on any toaster computer you are running as long as you have a stable connection.
Like it ? Then don't be afraid to buy some games during their sales if they are cheaper on Stadia than other platforms. You will be able to play is as long as you have an stable Internet connection.
Don't listen to people who says Stadia is going away like some of Google's retired products. If anything, it's expanding and the future of gaming is streaming. Say goodbye to overpriced hardwares that expire or games that don't run properly on newer hardwares. Say goodbye to having to buy the same game on xbox, pc, mobile. Say goodbye to load times, storage limits, hardware problems like the ps4 pro making absurb noise.
Don't listen to people wo says Stadia has awful lag - they either have a bad connection or only tested Stadia at launch. With a good reliable connection with at least 35mbps download, there is absolutely no way the input lag will bother you unless you do competitive gaming. Everyone has their own experience with Stadia and best is to try it out yourself and not listen to people - it's free anyway with zero hurdles.
Don't listen to people claiming Stadia has a very limited library. Stadia launched roughly 1 year ago compared to xbox / steam / ps who have been there for ages. Obviously, you won't have the same library. Stadia is about to lock in 400+ games this year alone and more to come. Library size shouldn't matter since you do not have to pay or commit to anything. If you don't like what Stadia has to offer right now, just set it aside - you aren't losing out or anything. Your hardware is not going to expire, you aren't paying a dime to have a Stadia account, you have zero commitment necessary.
I hope this sums up the debate and why everyone should at least give Stadia a chance and try it out on your browser right now and experience the future of gaming. Zero commitment needed.

PART #2 : This is the part where I try to summarize each available streaming service and compare it to Stadia as of today.
PS Remote Play, which has pretty much been given up by Sony because they want to focus on PS5 hardware, is basically a service that allows you to connect to your own hardware to play games you own on your PS4 / PS5. You have the same limitations than your current hardware. Therefore, if your game only runs on 30FPS on PS4, it will only run 30FPS remotely. Your hardware will also eventually expire as new games get developed that require more juice. Last time I checked, remote play on PS4 Pro is capped at 720p. Since the connection has to jump through 2 loops (from your PS to Internet, and from the Internet back to your device), you will definitely feel a latency while streaming your games. Stadia is running off of a dedicated hardware and servers straight to the device you're streaming on, while the PS4/5 remote play has no server and uses your hardware.
PS Now is a service you need to pay either 12.99$ CAD a month or commit to $79.99 CAD for a whole year (20% off during BF sale, good value). It has its own dedicated servers so latency should be better. However, as of now, games are still being streamed at 720p only, and hopefully 1080p soon. A plus side is the access to a bigger library, potentially bigger than what xbox game pass ultimate has to offer. You can also download PS4/5 games to play offline unlike Stadia where a stable connection is required at all times. However, you need an online check every 7 days and the offline service only works on your PS4/5 hardware. if you use this service, some games can leave the platform on a rotation basis (about 10 out of 800 games available) and you don't own any games unless you buy them on the PS store. If your subscription expires, you'll lose access to the downloaded games and any DLC associated with it. As noted by redditors here, you do get plenty of time to finish the game and a notice ahead of time before rotation begins.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cost 16.99$ CAD a month and provides the best library of games on a rotation basis, and is now combined with xbox gold meaning you can claim free games every month that you can keep as long as you are subbed, like Stadia Pro. The game selection is arguably better than PS Now, and is much more varied than Stadia. The biggest downside is that Game Pass Ultimate only offers 720p streaming as of now and I have noticed many more players reporting latency issues with Game Pass compared to Stadia. Just like PS now, Game Pass Ultimate is like a rental service where you don't get to keep any games unless you keep paying a fee. The difference with Stadia is that your money is exchanged for games you can keep with regular Stadia. You keep the games you bought and they do offer some free to play games like Destiny 2 and more to come eventually. However, free version of Stadia is capped at 1080p 60fps with stereo sound.
Geforce Now from Nvidia costs 6.49$ CAD a month to play, or offered free but you are limited to 1-hour sessions only, which is quite stressful in my opinion. It basically uses your steam games library and allows you to stream them using their cloud servers. If you have a big library of steam games, I can see a good reason to use Geforce Now. However, their cloud servers are much much smaller than Google (obviously). For new games, you have to wait for them to become available on the service if the game requires different specs, since Nvidia has to make Steam games compatible with their service first. Due to their small servers, 2 years after their launch, they have yet announced support for 4k streaming and yet to have their own exclusives. This is only a good option if you have a huge amount of steam games and want to access those games outside of your PC.
Luna offers game streaming for 7.99$ CAD (note that this is their entry price, and I will guarantee you this price will get a bump once their service is more widely known) . They have a bigger game library than Stadia but a lot of players claim that their games aren't as quality (filled with indie games and less AAA titles). However, Stadia has much better latency because Amazon servers are more tailored towards enterprise usage rather than customer. Another downside to Luna is that it doesn't offer a free service compared to Stadia, but time will tell.
To me, the main selling point for Stadia is this : no commitment required.
With other services, you either have to pay to use their service or buy their hardware, or both. A paywall is the highest obstacle to a new user base and Google knows that. No other services would allow you to create a free account, go on your chrome browser, and play Destiny 2 (other free games will be announced soon) right away without any hardware check. You can play Destiny 2 on a toaster computer, a TV with a Chromecast Ultra dongle and all you need is keyboard + mouse, or any controller you can find. Stadia can accommodate those with little to no interest to build a 1,000 $ CAD PC to keep up with current games (to eventually expire and have to upgrade again) and Stadia doesn't require you to buy consoles, have console hardwares expire, compatibility issues with previous games, update games, run out of storage room.
All you need to ask yourself is : do you want to play this game or not ?
You are not pressured to finish a game before it rotates out.
You are not forced to pay to play - you buy and own.
You don't have to think about compatibility issues nor hardware issues.
If Stadia manages to secure more AAA and exclusive titles, they will be an even more fearful competitor to other game streaming services.
Cloud gaming is still very young but it is the future. We don't know when it will happen, but one day, it will be the Netflix of gaming.

2020-11-26 EDIT : Thank you so much for all the feedback guys, I stand corrected on many points you guys put forward and I appreciate the time you put to read through my wall of text.
EDIT 2 : Updated PS Now to include 10 games out of 800 that gets rotated out and library size potentially bigger than xbox's.
EDIT 3 : correction on stadia servers vs amazon luna's

An honest talk about my time in Monster Hunter: World (and Iceborne).

So, I've felt like I had to get this off my chest for a while. It's not a rant, but apart from that, I'm unsure about how it'll turn out. It's likely going to be about what Monster Hunter has meant for me, and what its put me through, so if you don't want to read it, then I understand, and encourage you to go look at memes or something instead. For those of you who stay, please just... try to understand. That's all I can ask.
First off, I'd like to say that I'm not a pro Hunter. I started on World in early 2020, and even though I've got to finished the main story of Master Rank (or G-Rank if you veterans prefer), I am not a good player. I'm not just inherently bad at the game, although that is a part of my problems. I have mild Asperger's Syndrome and Executive Dysfunction, although you wouldn't be able to tell if you just met me on the street. This means that I have trouble understanding body language (meaning what a monster is about to do in this case, even after learning their patterns) due to the first condition, and a slower processing time for my mind to understand what's going on because of the second.
In short, I'm just not good at MHW. And, as time wore on, that's really started to hurt.
Secondly, I'm not a min-maxer. Many of you out there would probably call me a 'filthy casual' and tell me to 'git gud'. And that... that hurts. But I don't like being forced to squeeze every possible iota of damage out of my build that I can. I generally just get Critical Eye and Agitator as high as I can before turning to more skills that make the hunt more comfortable, like Health Boost, Blight Resistance, and Divine Blessing. And while making hunts more enjoyable, it hasn't really worked in my favour. However, I didn't use the Defender Gear.
Oh, and thirdly, I play with a PS4 controller plugged into my PC, so I may be suffering from input lag, but if I am, I haven't noticed. I also never played any games like Monster Hunter before. Nothing Soulsborne-related. The closest thing I had was Warframe, and that's like sticking an apple next to a banana and saying that they're the same, so I was chucked into the deep end when I first began playing.
With those points out of the way, onto what I've been doing in the Fifth Fleet.
Back in base World, I really, really struggled against Nergigante, as did a lot of other people. It must have taken at least seven runs to finally down him. Runs, mind you, not carts. I ran him solo, because my friends (I won't be naming names) said that Nergigante would be a good challenge. Was he a challenge? Yes. Was he a good one?
Not for my mental state.
I completely forgot about the SOS flare. I got stuck in this mindset that I had to kill Nergigante solo. I kept failing.
I've only briefly told my friends what I'm gonna say next. And this isn't even the whole story of it. It's just the best I can write it. And if they're reading this, then... I'm sorry for making you guys seem like assholes. You aren't.
The peer pressure that I felt was... immense. I freely admit to breaking down and crying in front of my monitor several times, even when other people were in the room. I was scared of what my friends would say when they found out that I couldn't do what they had all done easily- within their first two/three runs at the most. I was terrified of their disappointment. Of their realisation that I wouldn't be the prized fourth member of their hunts. That they'd find someone else who could do a better job than I can.
And that fear was funnelled into Nergigante himself.
I had nightmares about him. The first time I'd had nightmares in about 5 years. I woke up in cold sweats a lot. Every time his music came on, my mind just blanked and I kept panicking. I just ran around, scared of even approaching him. I didn't even really understand how the Dual Blades (which I'd been using against him at the time) worked, despite watching numerous tutorial videos for them.
I was terrified that he'd cart me again. That he'd make me fail again. Even if I hear his theme- or the AT version- now, my heartbeat still speeds up and I begin to panic, even if I'm the one watching someone else play the game.
After a while, those ideas merged. To face Nergigante became synonymous with failure.
And then, eventually, after the seven runs that stretched out over the course of IRL weeks... I finally beat him.
I can't overstate my relief. I'd won, and I was a valuable team member who could hold their own in a fight. My friends congratulated me, telling me that I'd done a good job, and I was happy. I was vindicated of my self-doubt and peer pressure that had been building and building over the course of weeks, and it felt amazing.
Back then, Monster Hunter: World was what I played whenever I could. I loved the game's style, the monster design, and just how everything felt. It was like I was actually in Astera, or the Ancient Forest, or the Wildspire Waste. MHW was perhaps the first game that made me feel fully immersed in its world, and I loved that feeling.
For the rest of World, there weren't any big problems. My friends told me to do Xeno'jiiva solo. He was nowhere near as hard as Nergigante was, and while he took a while to learn, I eventually beat it on my third run.
So that was World done. I kicked around the place a bit, discovered Deviljho, got splattered by the Final Fantasy Kulu (I later went back with MR gear to kick its butt), and enjoyed the Witcher crossover, despite not knowing the source material.
Then I took the step into MR.
Everything was new, strange, and often kicked my butt. But my friends helped me through it, and once again, nothing was as bad as Nergigante. Velkhana was annoying, but after she went down, I was pretty confident that I could get a hunt done on the first run.
However, pride comes before a fall. Said fall being a literal drop into the 'arena' of Ruiner Nergigante.
The fear was back. The panic was back. The sense of hopelessness was back. Oh, and I didn't know that Astera Jerky stopped bleed back then.
After I died a fair bit, I eventually managed to just survive as my friends slapped Ruinerg with Greatswords and other various objects. Then we faced Shara Ishvalda and had a good time.
I took a few days to get to the Guiding Lands and the Safi'jiiva siege, and tried out Heavy Bowgun somewhere around that time, having got the Safi Spread one. I equipped some shields and had a good time with a pseudo-shotgun.
Then we reach the time when my friends and I hunted a Zinogre in the Ancient Forest.
Two friends were with me. One mained Greatsword, and one was using Hammer at the time, but liked to switch around. Greatsword friend is an easygoing guy who played the older generations of Monster Hunter. Let's call him Veteran. Hammer friend is a min-maxer, and likes to do as much damage as possible. Let's call him Max.
So, Max likes his high damage, and I'd just discovered Wyvern Ammo. And while Zinogre was down, I tried blasting it, not knowing that I'd blast Max away on his final hit of the Big Bang combo. Rather rightfully annoyed with me, he told me to let him go for the head, which I did, apologising for hitting him.
I did not, however, have the presence of mind to use a different ammo type.
Next time Zinny went down, I targeted the tail, and shot Wyvern Ammo again. Despite being as far from the head, as I could, I still somehow accidentally hit Max. And he absolutely exploded at me in the voice chat that he, Veteran and I were in. Trying to argue that I had tried to do as he said, I was yelled over, and was basically told that I was a dumbass, but in much ruder words.
I promptly closed the game after that, feeling miserable and half-believing what Max had said. I stayed offline in the social media platform we shared, and as we live in different countries, it was pretty easy to stay on my own, and out of MHW. Eventually, Veteran managed to tell me that Max had had an argument with his family before logging on to play with us. Understanding that, all was forgiven.
Things went back to normal after that, and I eventually reached MR 100 and faced off against Ruinerg in the Guiding Lands. Once again, I was terrified, and just built my setup to be able to just survive against the Durian of Doom. My setup was Urugaan and Nargacuga armour for Guard Up and Spare Shot with my Safi Spread HBG. Full shields on that thing.
I killed Ruinerg without carting. It felt good. Like I'd triumphed over something that I'd struggled long and hard against.
In many ways, I'd done just that, but I didn't feel like I was the Hunter I thought I was before. I wasn't some guy who could storm through the game, slaying monsters left and right like so many others. And after the reality set in that my skill level was 'bad' to 'mediocre', that began to sting.
Seeing all the amazing things that other Hunters shared here and on Youtube, I began to feel that even my best, I just couldn't begin to compare with them. They were like gods, soaring through the sky before landing hits on monsters that would always result in knockdowns and a proper ass-whooping. And then there was me, a peasant who dragged their Longsword and HBG through the dirt as they stumbled their way forwards. Someone who couldn't even hope to get to their level.
I'm not saying this to bring down those amazing people. They've put in a lot of hard work to get to where they've got. To do all those amazing things, it likely took hours. And they deserve to celebrate their accomplishments. It's just that for someone like me, who struggles to even survive some fights, it's... demoralising to see.
After a few months, Alatreon came out. And that was a struggle.
I don't know how many times I tried to solo Ala. I always carted after his second Escaton, and that was even if I managed to do enough elemental damage on him to survive both, as well as breaking his horns.
He didn't scare me the same way that Nergigante or Ruinerg did. There wasn't any peer pressure to his fight. Everyone struggled with it, and after a few months, I'd resigned myself to the fact that I just couldn't hunt him solo.
So I went Multiplayer, like I'd become accustomed to doing by then.
After carting the first few runs, where people thought that they could take in blast weapons and everything would be fine, I slowly, slowly improved at the fight. And then, as luck would have it, I managed to take him down with three random Hunters in a lobby, on the last day of the summer holiday before returning to college.
That felt amazing. Utterly amazing.
I know that, so far, this post has mostly made it seem like I dislike MHW. I don't. I like the game. I'm just bad at it. But it's moments like that, where the pain and suffering against a monster and learning a new weapon (Charge Blade) just to take it on are worth it. It's just bliss. And I know that its because of the struggle that makes those victories worth it, but... they're only just worth it. The euphoria that I feel after killing a hard monster is usually barely enough to offset the pain and self-doubt that hits me as I try, fail, try again, and fail.
It's a self-destructive cycle until I finally kill the hard monster. And even then, the kill is mostly because I've gone into multiplayer for help from others. It's never purely my achievement.
The self-doubt and self destructiveness didn't affect my daily life much. It was just when I played. And when things happened that enforced those feelings, it just made me feel like I couldn't bring anything to the table in hunts. I'd never be skilled enough to be wanted. I'd never deal enough damage to be wanted. I'd never be good enough to be wanted. And I just wanted to stop playing, but the game just kept bringing me back to face more, and occasionally have some personal victory.
There was an time like that where Max asked me to come and play with him in a Safi'jiiva lobby. However, when I got there, there were no free slots. I asked Max to switch lobbies so we could play together. He replied by saying that the host of the lobby was a good one who kicked people who weren't doing the Safi Siege, making the lobby valuable enough to stay in.
He picked the certainty of having a good host, good Hunters, and more rewards over me. It stung, and I felt cheated somehow, but I... understood his logic, at least, even though it made me feel wretched.
Then there were other times where I messed up in hunts and Max yelled at me. Times like not detonating the Barrel Bombs while a monster was asleep because I thought that another Hunter had gone back to camp for more explosives. Times where I didn't do something as Max wanted me to. Times when I was just trying to do my best.
I reached my limit a little after Fatalis came out. Max didn't want to play with me the times when I pretty much begged him for help. I couldn't do enough damage to win the fight solo, and multiplayer was just asking for cartfests. Max did one Fatalis hunt with me. Just one. Then he went off to do something else as I crafted two pieces of its armour.
Another day, I asked for Max's help with Fatalis again so that I could finish the armour set and get the Longsword. Max said, and I quote, "I don't want to play with people who can't pull their own weight."
That hurt me far more than he realised. I felt useless. That I couldn't do anything right. That I'd never amount to a good Hunter, no matter what gear or how much practise I had.
Depressed and upset, I had to ask Veteran for help to get the entire armour set and the fully upgraded Longsword. The few other kills I had were with random people and lucking out.
I don't play with Max any more. His yelling and need to have the highest damage numbers and shortest hunt he could get are just... too much for me. We're still good friends, but I just can't play like he does. I can't take it any more.
I'm not saying that Max is a jerk, even if he might come off that way by what I've written, and I don't want people to see him that way. He's just a min-maxer who's way too competitive.
So yeah, now we've reached where I am now. AT Velkhana is... around. I'm still not too great at the game, despite trying my best. I'd class myself as 'alright' to 'kinda good' nowadays.
I like making builds that are just odd, ridiculous, and/or funny, like seeing how much 'overcrit' I can do (around 240%, I think), having resistances to every status effect I can, and having a sword that doesn't require sharpening, even though its damage isn't too good. They're not meta by any means, but I like them, and that's what counts.
I still love Monster Hunter: World, even after the everything that it's put me through. That sense of being transported there is still with me, even after I've accepted that I'll never be the best Hunter out there. While looking at the cool and amazing stuff that other people do hurts... I try to bear it. And to those people, don't stop being brilliant Hunters, even though it hurts. You're all inspirations to new members of the 5th Fleet.
I thank MHW:I for the positives it's given me while playing it, even though there's been a lot of negative. I thank it for Bazelgeuse, and his tendency to buddy up with me on hunts. You're always welcome, B52. As a kaiju fan, I thank it for the awesomeness of the Zorah Siege, even though a lot of other people don't like it. I thank it for displaying 'Part Broken' after I stabbed Fatalis in the balls (I wish I'd screenshotted it). And despite the negatives... I thank it for making me a more better person.
To end this rather long post about my personal experience, I just want to end off with this. Over the Christmas holiday, Veteran posed me with a challenge to help with my fear of Nergigante. He said that after learning and improving since High Rank, get High Rank gear and go try the fight again.
I did. Except, to prove to myself that I was good at the game, I tried each weapon type against him (all High Rank), even though I'd never even touched Insect Glaive, Bow, Gunlance, and Sword and Shield, and had very little experience with Greatsword, Switch Axe, and Hammer.
Every time, I managed to kill him, only carting when I got greedy. With Longsword, the weapon that I now main, I killed him in under 5 minutes. That may not seem too great to some of you, but it was what truly showed me how far I've come.
To Capcom, Monster Hunter: World (and Iceborne)... Thank you. For everything. And to everyone who's kept reading until now, thanks for just letting me get this off my chest and understanding. I've needed this for a long time now, and now I've finally done it... I feel much better.

More PS5 info on Back-compat, forced vibration/adaptive triggers leaked via PlayStation store web source code

Web page source code at https://checkout.playstation.com/error# contains interesting new PS5 info
It seems this is info will be presented on the Web-based PlayStation Store through prompts/error messages.
-Backwards Compatibility:
So, not all PS4 games will be supported, and indeed, as suggested a few months back, you'll need to update the system OS to access newly compatible PS4 games.
We already knew boost mode was coming, but interesting to see Sony is sticking with that naming convention.

-Forced vibration/adaptive triggers:
Seems that developers are allowed to force haptic feedback/trigger control. Potential accessibility issue?

-Console sharing
Ignoring the specific PS Now bit, this suggests that PS5 will bring forward PS4's "Primary" account model in some form, where a PSN account can be designated "primary" and other users can access it's purchases and subscription content from the same console.
EDIT: Looks like "primary" is being renamed to "Main" PS5, as the Demon's Souls product page states: "You can download and play this content on the main PS5 console associated with your account (through the “Console Sharing and Offline Play” setting) and on any other PS5 consoles when you login with your same account." (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/demons-souls/#sku)

-Cross-Gen party chat:
Unclear whether this is system-level or only certain games. I would assume system level.

-Cloud saves, remote game downloads (obvious, but confirmed):

Looking for a survival game on PC without PVP

I posted this on /ShouldIbuythisgame and it was downvoted for some reason.
My PC setup:
XFX RX 470 4gb
I5 3330
8gb ram
Windows 10
I've been playing Vigor on PS4 quite a bit lately but the PVP is frustrating. I love going in, sneaking around, trying to avoid other players and looting what I can. I've also been playing a bit of Ark on PS4 but it gets a bit challenging and I am taking a break. I don't know too much about survival games as it seems most of them are either PVP oriented or Horror themed, 2 things I'm not really fond of.
But I love crafting and having to hunt and loot and kill and plunder for the materials. I love trying to mass produce consumables like potions in Skyrim, World of Warcraft, etc. I just love crafting in general. I am new to the 'rebuild your base' mechanic and am loving it in Vigor and Ark. Even upgrading my camp and satchels and everything In Red Dead Redemption, which I no longer have on PS4.
I've been looking at Cryofall. I played a bit of the demo and it's fun but we have only one ethernet cable and it's usually in my PS4(wireless wont reach either of the devices out in the living room and we watch TV while playing). Having the option to play solo offline would be great, but it's not a dealbreaker. I'd play more vigor if the gun controls were better and if it was PVE.
Anyways, sorry for the ramble, but I'd love any suggestions. Thank you.

Online play would be better if we could hit that 'Appear Offline' button!

Been a devotee since Fallout 3!😁When lockdown started for us in Australia, I tried FO76 for the first time as a way to connect with other people during isolation, and it worked a treat! Only now, I have a lot of different kinds of online friends, and they are not all compatible with eachother. Every time I log in, I get all of them wanting to play at the same time, and I need to choose between them, which seems kind of sad for those who get left out. I know I don't like it when I get left out of their teams. I tried 'Appearing Offline' through my PS4, but they still can see me in the game, so that doesn't work at all. It seems the simple solution would be to just appear offline in the game but still be able to play with teammates of our choosing.
I want to be able to keep all of my friends, but just choose who I want to play with and when. Example: During the daytime, I like to build my camp and farm at workshops, so I have one creative/productive set of friends who is into that, but on weekends and evenings, I like to amp it up so I want to play with my more intense, high energy friends. Some of my buddies love to dress silly and clown around, so we set up parties with fireworks, nukashine, music and heaps of selfies but you can only do that with certain people. There are also rare times when I just want to go to Applacia to be on my own. As soon as that green light goes on though, everyone knows you're available and that's when it can get messy.
What if we could even have a calendar like a simple form of outlook where we can schedule when we plan to be online and available can book appointments with friends and can also schedule online events with notifications that go off in our PS App? Maybe even with push notifications to devices? The app version could be programmed to filter info from our quests and challenges too, this way we can interface with the phone app while still in play instead of leaving our player standing idol in Appalachia while we plan our next move.
Just dreaming here. You guys have a good thing going on, I have nothing but praise for Bethesda.

Why can me and my friends not see each other or invite each other to each others games 50% of the time?

So this has been a problem for a while but finally got frustrated enough to write something on here and hopefully get some help.
So a good half the time me and friends want to play we all text each other saying we are online and then comes the struggle of you can invite X to your party but not Y or Z so Z restarts but then can't be seen online so we all restart and one person starts to host but but someone out of the 4 cannot see any of the invites or join session in progress or join party so we basically all spend 10 minutes restarting the game over and over whilst in inviting each other until finally we all manage to get into a party.
This has been going on since S4 now. I'll go online because we've all agreed a time and I can see maybe only 1 of the other 3 online so I have to go to offline friends and sometimes then, even though it says offline I can send them an invite.
Has anyone else witnessed this or found a fix? I'm not sure it matters a platform because we are 2 PC players, 1 Xbox (me) and a PS4 guy.
