UK "Clean Energy"/ESG stocks that haven't exploded yet

I've been doing some research into a few UK listed companies, noted below.
Velocys LON: VLS - https://www.velocys.com/
Velocys aim is to work with aviation & aerospace to create sustainable fuels and help achieve net zero emissions.
Their process transforms waste into clean fuels using a process called the Fischer–Tropsch process, which converts carbon monoxide and hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbons
Basically domestic refuse and woody waste is received, sorted and prepared at their plant. The solid waste is then heated to a high temperature to break it down and convert it into synthesis gas (carbon monoxide & hydrogen), which is used to synthesise hydrocarbons using the Fischer -Tropsch technology. This is fundamentally different to incineration; instead of being burnt, the carbon is converted into fuel. This is much better use of household waste than incineration or landfill, plus this fuel would see a 70% reduction in greenhouse emissions compared to conventional jet fuel, and a 90% reduction in particulate matter from engine exhausts.
Notably, their sustainable biofuels require no aircraft engine modification or change of airport infrastructure.
Collaborating with British Airways and Shell, planning permission was successfully granted earlier this year for the Altato Immingham plant in Lincolnshire (https://www.altalto.com/immingham/), a project that will take over 500,000 tonnes of household and office waste each year, and convert them into over 60 millions litres of clean jet fuel. The plant aims to be operational in the mid 2020s. Velocys are leading this project, assembling and licensing all the technology components into an integrated design. They are also developing a plant in Mississippi that will create fuel for road transportation in the US, from paper and lumber industry waste. This plant is Pre-FEED (completion by end of Q1 '21), and federal permitting completed.
I found this extract very interesting applicable for their primary project, taken from the the UK Gov White Paper on our Net Zero future (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/energy-white-paper-powering-our-net-zero-future). “Jet zero and green ships: By taking immediate steps to drive the uptake of sustainable aviation fuels, investments in R&D to develop zero-emission aircraft and developing the infrastructure of the future at our airports and seaports, we will make the UK the home of green ships and planes.“

I suspect this hasn't exploded yet, because of tie ins to aviation and subsequent lower demand. However if you believe aviation will make a comeback, and the future is green, then this could be a solid play over the next 12-18 months. I've already taken a 40,000 share position in this and will just sit on this. Perhaps Greta Thunberg may pass on the boat trip and fly to the USA next time.
SIMEC Atlantis Energy LON: SAE- https://simecatlantis.com/
SIMEC Atlantis aim to become the leading independent sustainable power generator in the UK. They are involved with the design, construction, installation, testing, operation and maintenance of power projects across the globe with more than 1,000 megawatts of power projects in various stages of development, aiming to have 250 megawatts operational by 2021.
Their core offering is tidal power generation from Atlantis, where they are recognised as world leaders in the sector, with operations and projects across the UK, Canada, India and China. The worlds largest tidal energy plant currently under construction in Scotland, entitled 'MeyGen', is an Atlantis project, phase 1A of this is already operational.
Compared with offshore wind, tidal hasn't been able to compete in recent years, which is probably why you don't hear too much about it, however the UK government has also proposed a restructuring of the CfDs pots in 2021, where they are looking to separate offshore wind and tidal into separate pots. In simple terms, tidal will have a greater chance of winning CfDs and therefore increased revenue support which will massively benefit the Atlantis MeyGen and other UK projects.
They also operate in the Waste-to-Energy space following their acquisition of the Uskmouth Power Plant, Newport, Wales. This formal coal powered station is in the process of being converted to use a waste-derived energy pellet as fuel and deliver 220 MW of power to the grid. This project will be a world first conversion of a coal fired power plant, and if successful will provide a blueprint for other conversions across the world. There is growing public concern about what happens to your household waste, to put it in perspective across a 20-year life of the project, the waste used to produce the pellets would will a volume equivalent to more than 46,000 Olympic sized swimming pools - waste that would otherwise end up in landfill.
They also have a Turbine and Engineering Services division that designs, supplies and maintains tidal turbines and subsea connection equipment.
Share Price: 19.01p
Market Cap: £93.98m
Previous Month Performance: -19.09%
I'm bullish on Tidal especially where the gov CfD proposals apply, plus unlike wind, the moon rarely takes time off so it's a fairly reliable source of power. Additionally if they're able to show commercial success at the Uskmouth Power Plant then the potential here for growth is incredible, with thousands of coal plants worldwide approaching their end of life and being phased out, conversion to a waste pellet fuel (as opposed to biomass like the Drax powerplant) would be the most sustainable way to both manage excess waste and also improve the environmental performance of a coal plant. I have taken a 10,000 share position in this.
Biome Technologies LON: BIOM - https://biometechnologiesplc.com/
Comprises of two operations, Biome Bioplastics and Stanelco RF Technologies.
Biome Bioplastics is a developer of highly-functional, naturally-based plastics. Bioplastics are designed so that the biodegrade or compost at the end of their useful life. They are made to be chemically identical to their oil-based counterparts, and can be directly substituted. The production process requires much less energy, and is overall a much more sustainable method of providing plastic in our day to day lives whilst also managing the end-of-life process. Growth here is driven by new product launches, and the trajectory of demand for bioplastics increasing with pressure for a low carbon economy and better management of plastic waste. End of 2019 saw this division report revenue of £3.4m compared to £1.9m in 2018. Quarterly revenues ending Sep 2020 were £1.6m, 48% ahead of the previous quarter and 131% ahead of the same period last year.
Stanelco RF Technologies designs, builds and services advanced radio frequency systems. Whilst historically a large part of their business, demand for products produced by this division has been reducing, and as such my focus is more on the aggressive growth on the bioplastics side becoming dominant.
Share Price: 185p
Market Cap: £6.87m
Previous Month Performance: +0.81%
My view is that plastic isn't going anywhere, and bioplastics sit in a rapidly expanding market to help mitigate the downsides associated with plastic use. A handful of big clients could easily multiply the sales for this company. I expect aggressive growth for bioplastics to continue, but since this is a nano-cap level and AIM being AIM, really it's a gamble, so I'm only going to put a small amount in this, circa £100 / approx 500 shares.
_______
I hope others find this useful. As always DYOR. Comment below if you want to add anything, I know these aren't all pure green plays, we do really need to move away from burning things for power and move to renewables and electric vehicles, however that isn't going to happen over night. The best way to kickstart and maximise value of this transition is to make use of the existing infrastructure in a more sustainable way and managing our waste in the process. If anyone has any other suggestions then let me know.

Offseason Blueprint: if the Boston Celtics turn their Big Hero 6 into the Magnificent Seven, they may be in the Finals themselves next year

The NBA Finals are underway, but there are now 28 teams sitting at home with nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs, watch LeBron, and wait for next season to start.
For their sake, we wanted to look ahead with the next edition of the OFFSEASON BLUEPRINT series. In each, we'll preview some big decisions and make some recommendations for plans of attack along the way. Today, we're looking at the Boston Celtics.
step one: don't flush money down the toilet
This is a difficult entry to write, because the Boston Celtics are a good team without any major problems hanging over their head. They were top 5 in W-L record, top 5 in point differential. They finished 4th in offense, 4th in defense. They advanced to the Conference Finals, knocking off a tough Toronto team along the way. If they rolled it back next season, they should be considered a top 5 team once again.
If you can nitpick, you can find reasons to quibble with some of their big splash free agency signings. Gordon Hayward got a huge contract and didn't sustain his All-Star level (for reasons out of his control.) Last offseason, the team gave out another huge contract to Kemba Walker ($32M + $34M + $36M + $38M player option), and they may be regretting that now. Walker never looked at 100% health and he got picked on some defensively in the playoffs. The idea of paying him that kind of money for three more seasons may be a little scary.
Of course, there's no use crying over spilled milk. Gordon Hayward will likely "opt in" to his $34M player option. Is that an overpay? Sure. Still, Hayward is still a solid starter with a balanced skill set. With another year removed from that injury, he may take another step up.
As for Walker, the hope is that he'll do the same with an offseason to recover and another year in the system. It can't be easy to go from the star of a franchise to the 2nd or 3rd option. In fact, most of Walker's offensive decline can be chalked up to a reduced role. His PPG dropped from 25.6 to 20.4, but that comes after his minutes dropped by 3.8 and his field goal attempts dropped by 4.4 per game. In terms of his efficiency, there wasn't a big difference. He actually scored a higher true shooting percentage (up from 56% to 58%). His offensive box plus/minus stayed near the same at + 4.9, which ranked as the highest on Boston's team.
Walker didn't look great in the bubble, but I'm going to chalk that up to some lingering injuries. He's still only 30 years old, so he hasn't gotten materially worse in a year. Will he get much worse by age 32? At 33? That's possible. But again, the Celtics have already committed to that. They can try to float trade packages for Walker to get off that contract, but I don't see teams beating down their door for it. If a team like the Knicks wants Walker, they may not offer anything back in return (aside from their willingness to take the contract.) Given Boston's situation as a team on the verge of the Finals, it doesn't make a lot of sense to take a step back like that just for cap relief.
step two: promote a temp to a full time desk
The Boston Celtics have a very strong "top six." You have the two rising stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. You have the two veterans in Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward. You have the super role players in Marcus Smart and Daniel Theis. After that, it's more of a grab bag. No other player on the team averaged more than 20 minutes a night in the regular season, and no other player averaged more than 18 minutes a night in the postseason.
A team can make a deep run in the playoffs by going six strong, but it makes the margin of error narrower. When one of those players gets hurt -- like Gordon Hayward did this postseason -- it strains your depth. Beyond that, having an extra member of the full-time cast allows your players to take nights off and manage their minutes in anticipation of that deep playoff run. Hayward and Walker are both 30 now, so it's going to be important to keep them fresh.
Effectively, we want to take this "top six" and make it a "top seven." (Hence the post title.)
The top candidate for a promotion would be rookie PF Grant Williams. To me, Williams has more offensive potential than fellow forward Semi Ojeleye. After three good years at Tennessee, Williams dropped to # 22 in the draft based on the perception that he was more of a "college player" who couldn't keep up with NBA athletes. That didn't look to be the case so far for Williams (or for Cam Johnson in Phoenix, by the by.) Williams is a high-IQ player who can potentially play several different positions. He needs to keep increasing his range (25% from three), but he's been working toward that over his career. If he can take a leap next year, that'd be a major boon for the Celtics.
Fellow rookies Romeo Langford and Carsen Edwards may be slightly behind on the development curve, but it'd be great if they could get on the track toward the rotation eventually. Langford projects as a quality scorer who could potentially replace Gordon Hayward in the lineup in 1-2 years. Meanwhile, Edwards was a major shot maker in college who still has a lot of work to do. It may be too optimistic to think he could be a starter one day, but perhaps he could take the reserve role from Brad Wanamaker (a free agent.) If not, Tremont Waters (another rookie) may try to vie for that spot himself. It's not exactly Game of Thrones, but it's Game of Bench Seats. If nothing are ready for 15 or so minutes, then the team may need to re-sign Wanamaker or another filler vet.
In an ideal world, the Celtics would have faith that Robert Williams would be ready for an elevated role himself. They may lean more toward smallball bigs, but it's nice to have the option of a more traditional big at center as well. Enes Kanter has a player option for $5M that he may take -- he may not. He may try to finagle a longer-term deal somewhere. But if the team trusts the Time Lord, they can negotiate from a position of strength on that front.
No matter what happens, the Celtics will likely need their "7th man" to come from within. They have $120M committed on the cap for next season, so they're going to need to rely on internal improvements.
step three: bundle like the Big Short
If you thought the Boston Celtics had a lot of prospects in their "farm system" already, just wait. In this upcoming draft, they'll have pick # 14. And pick # 26. And pick # 30. And pick # 47.
Danny Ainge has always valued the draft and having a lot of picks, but we don't need this many. After all, we're trying to win the NBA title, not the G-League title.
The most obvious tactic would be bundling up these assets and trying to upgrade somehow. Like in The Big Short, perhaps a bunch of low-end assets can equal something of value. Still, the Celtics and their fans need to be reasonable here. They've tried bundling up lower draft picks in order to move for a while now, and always seem surprised when teams reject it (thinking of the potential Justise Winslow trade-up, primarily.) The truth is, these mid-to-late R1 picks aren't as valuable as many people seem to think. If the team packages all four of those picks together (14, 26, 30, 47) in order to move up, they may only land around pick # 9 or so. This isn't the NFL; NBA teams tend to value quality over quantity in the draft.
For a team that's already pretty strong and balanced, there may be a tendency to keep all their picks and just swing for a home run or two. The trouble is: there's only so much room on the roster. Consolidating (or pushing some of those picks back to future drafts) may be necessary.
If the Celtics can't move up and stay at # 14, they should have the option of getting another solid prospect. Some that may be intriguing to me personally would be Arizona SG/SF Josh Green ("Green"? karmic!), Villanova SF Saddiq Bey, or Maryland PF Jalen Smith. All three are quality prospects that project as rotational players in a year or two. A bigger home run swing may be Aleksej Pokusevski, the skilled 7'0" stretch big from Serbia. Pokusevski's narrow frame would make me nervous to bet on him if I was a GM on the ropes who needed to hit on my pick, but the Celtics have more freedom than that. They can take some chances if they want. Other upside plays would include PG/SG R.J. Hampton (U.S./New Zealand) and SF Jaden McDaniels (Washington).
With the # 26 pick, the Celtics could also get a decent prospect as well. You can never go wrong with a traditional 3+D prospect like SF Robert Woodard (Mississippi State). I also wouldn't rule out taking a traditional big like Vernon Carey (Duke). No one wants traditional scoring bigs anymore, but that's the reason that a player like that (who averaged 18-9 as a freshman) would slip down to # 24. In another era, the kid may be a top 10 pick. At the very least, he could replace the Enes Kanter role as a scoring sub.
step four: keep on truckin'
Hmm. Usually these offseason blueprints have 4 or 5 steps, but I'm running out of ideas here. As mentioned, things are running pretty smoothly for this franchise. I don't think Danny Ainge needs much help from reddit right now.
Still, I'll throw in some minor little notes that don't even merit a full section.
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? The Celtics have a lot of shot makers, but sometimes their offense can stall and fall into iso or hero ball. They need to keep pushing forward with ball movement and set plays if need be. One stat I noticed: Jaylen Brown is an exceptional shooter from the corner. He's at 43% from his career, and that swelled to 48% this season. Running action to get him more of those shots would be helpful.
REUNITE GERMANY. The team has a $5M option on center Daniel Theis that they'll definitely pick up. After that, Theis will be an unrestricted free agent. If I ran the team, I'd start talking to Theis about an extension. There may be a perception that the team can play any smallball center and save some money at the position, but I'd disagree. Theis is an underrated player that fits the modern NBA well. There may be a matchup here and there where he struggles, but overall he's a good starter and may need to be paid like one. He's still a little "under the radar," so perhaps they can get a team-friendly deal if they extend him now.
KEEP YOUR COACHING DEPTH STRONG. Celtics assistant coach Jay Larranaga is one of the better lieutenants in the game. He had been floated for some head coaching jobs in the past, but seems to have been lost in the shadows with all the major movement on the sidelines this year. Hopefully, for Boston's sake, Larranaga doesn't feel discouraged by that and doesn't start looking for head coaching opportunities elsewhere. His father is a good college coach, and he may decide to go that NCAA route eventually himself. The team should keep him well compensated so he doesn't feel the need to do that.
Overall, we're talking minor tweaks for this next season. The Celtics' chances of winning a title will hinge on how much they can improve -- both from their young stars and from their young bench.

Offseason Blueprint: It may feel like the sky is falling for the Milwaukee Bucks, but they're still in rare air right now

The playoffs continue to rage on, but there are 25 teams sitting at home with nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs, tinker with their fantasy football teams, and wait for next season to start.
For their sake, we wanted to look ahead with the next edition of the OFFSEASON BLUEPRINT series. In each, we'll preview some big decisions and make some recommendations for plans of attack along the way. Today, we're looking at the Milwaukee Bucks.
step one: plug your ears and get back to work
There's no getting around it: the 2019-20 playoffs were a disaster for the Milwaukee Bucks. This was a team that had been # 1 all year in terms of win record, SRS, defensive rating, etc. Consider this. Their +10.1 point differential in the regular season was the best in the entire NBA by a margin of 3.7 (next best was +6.4). That means their point differential was 58% better than the next closest team. Based on all that, losing 4-1 in the second round feels like an abject failure, regardless of whether Giannis Antetokounmpo was hobbled or not, and regardless of whether the Miami Heat were a "tough matchup" or not. Championship teams need to leap past those hurdles on their way to the finish line.
What's more concerning from Bucks' fans perspective is how familiar this all must feel. Forget Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (who won the title before his exit), because younger fans won't remember that period anyway. However, all of us can look around at recent history and feel some sense of deja vu.
Primarily, I'm thinking about LeBron James' first stint in Cleveland. The superstar landed on a small market, and lifted them into high-profile and contender status. In 2006-07, 22-year-old James led the Cavs all the way to the Finals, only to get swept 4-0 by the veteran San Antonio Spurs. After that, we naturally presumed that James and the Cavs would get better and better and eventually reach the promised land. And they did -- in the regular season. By 2008-09, LeBron James had become the league MVP, leading the Cavs to finish with a 66-16 record (best in the NBA.) That season, they lost a tough Conference Finals. The next season, James won MVP again, and the Cavs finished with the best record in the league again. Only this time, they got bounced in round TWO.
The Bucks are on that exact same trend. Giannis has won two MVPs in a row -- the Bucks have grabbed the # 1 seed two years in a row -- and they've disappointed in the playoffs two years in a row.
We all remember what happened after the Cavs' hit that roadblock -- LeBron James left the following year. Giannis isn't a free agent yet, but he theoretically could push for a trade, or he could simply wait until next offseason to fly the coop. We've already started to hear the whispers. Miami. Toronto. Golden State. If he wants to mimic LeBron James' career arc, he may be eyeing the Dallas Mavericks, their cap space, and their young international stars. It can be their own version of a super team: the Big III.
If you're a Bucks fan or executive, that fear should keep you up at night. That paranoia may be real.
But still, you can't live in the fear. You need to keep pushing forward, ignoring all the gossip, all the media rumors, all the instagram tea leaves. Even if some of it's real, you need to block it out. You have a job to do. Win. Championship-caliber teams and title chances don't come along very often in a league with 30 teams. Even if they just run it back, the Bucks have a chance to win the championship. Even if it's just for one more year, even if it's your own Last Dance, you strap on your dancing shoes and go for it.
After all, there's no Giannis trade that's going to make sense from a basketball perspective. If you lose Giannis (via trade or via free agency), you may never be in this position ever again. This is it. This is your chance. Be grateful that you even get one, because most front offices and coaching staffs don't.
step two: build a title machine, not a title team
When you're scared that your superstar may leave, there's a tendency to get desperate with "win now!" moves. The Cleveland Cavaliers did the same with LeBron James, adding players like old Ben Wallace and old Shaq. Didn't work.
There may be some temptation to do the same here, with names like Chris Paul already being thrown around. Presumably, the logic goes that if the Bucks win in 2021, then Giannis won't leave.
But we also have recent history to suggest that's not true either. The Toronto Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard, won the championship, and still lost him in free agency. Players don't base their decisions around the past; they base decisions about what's best for their FUTURE.
By those standards, the Bucks need to be concerned. They've built the roster around Giannis, but it's a fairly old roster. Khris Middleton is still in his prime, but Eric Bledsoe is already 30 (and under contract for 3 more years.) Brook Lopez is 32 (and under contract for 3 more years.) Wes Matthews is 33, and George Hill is 34. This is a supporting cast that may have peaked, and may get worse and worse over time. Would Giannis want to sign a long-term contract with a team with diminishing returns around him?
With that in mind, the Bucks should only make a major trade if it yields a star in his 20s. No Chris Paul, no Al Horford. The ideal acquisitions for this team would be players like Bradley Beal (27 years old) or C.J. McCollum (28). Both of them can space the floor for Giannis, but also create their own scoring as well. Better yet, their skill sets should age well and keep them valuable for the next 4-5 years. If Giannis gave the greenlight (and signed on the dotted line), the Bucks could make a Clippers-PG3 esque move and mortgage their future drafts to acquire a star like that.
Realistically, that may be too high of a bar. They're the template, but they're likely out of the Bucks' price range in terms of assets. Other candidates that have been floated on the market include Buddy Hield (a super fit as a shooter), and Otto Porter (injury prone and expensive, but still effective as a 3+D player when healthy.) Jrue Holiday may be an intriguing option, although he'd technically break our rule because he just turned "30" in June. Still, Holiday is a great guy and a versatile defender, so he may be worth betraying our bolded mandate.
step three: no weak links allowed in the machine
We've been taught through history lessons and Michael Jordan mythology that the best player in the NBA is supposed to win the title, no matter what. Alas, it's nearly impossible in today's climate for a superstar to win a championship without a great supporting cast. Either you need a superstar teammate, or an incredibly balanced roster around you.
The Bucks have a very good supporting cast, but it's probably a little shy of title worthy. The shooting guard position is a potential weak link.
Current starter Wes Matthews is a tough dude who fits the 3+D profile, but his 3 and his D ain't quite what it used to be. He still fights admirably, but he's approaching 34 and saddled with a lot of mileage and injury history. This season, he struggled to find his rhythm offensively, registering a 54.7% true shooting. That's actually not a bad number on its own, but it was the lowest among the Bucks' top 10 rotation players.
With Matthews aging, the hope is that 23-year-old Donte DiVicenzo can step up and grab hold of that mantle. That's still up in the air. DiVicenzo has virtues: good athleticism, good energy, solid defense, but he's still developing his shot and learning to play under control. It may be a leap of faith to presume that he'd be ready to start for a title team next season. Meanwhile, Pat Connaughton is OK, but he's a free agent and wouldn't be any great shakes himself.
Presuming we don't land a great trade, what do we do here? The options may be limited, given the lack of cap space and movable trade assets.
The Bucks may need to find a place-holder again until they're confident that DiVicenzo can play 25-30 minutes a night. You may be able to find a decent stopgap in the trade market: someone like Terrence Ross (ORL), or Reggie Bullock (NYK), or Jeremy Lamb (IND).
The New Orleans Pelicans would intrigue me as potential trade partner, given their abundance of riches (and question marks) at the guard position. They'll have Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball under contract, as well as promising combo guards like Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Josh Hart. Those latter two may be great options for the Bucks' long-term approach. If "short term" is the goal, then you'd have to consider J.J. Redick as well. The defense and age are issues, but Redick still lit it up to the tune of 45% shooting from 3 this year. Platooning Redick and DiVincenzo isn't a terrible option. And hell, let's throw one more Pelican into the mix. If I ran the Bucks, I'd try to sign free agent E'Twaun Moore, an underrated 3+D player who got lost in the shuffle this season. Moore has enough length to play the 2 or 3, and could soak up 25 minutes for the team. Adding more competent wings would also give the team some flexibility in their lineups and rotations to go big or small as they please.
step four: if all else fails, embrace organic farming
Let's say the Milwaukee Bucks don't acquire a third star. Let's say they don't land an upgrade on the margins either. Let's say they have to enter 2020-21 with this exact same roster. If that's the case, they're still likely going to win 50+ games, still likely going to be a threat to make the Finals. It's not the end of the world by any stretch.
However, if the Bucks can't shake up or tweak their roster, then they're going to have to rely more on internal improvements. We already mentioned Donte DiVincenzo as a major piece of the future and a potential starter down the road. It'd be great if we could see that trajectory for PF D.J. Wilson as well. After doing nothing as a rookie, he started to find some footing as a sophomore (playing 18.4 minutes a night.) But instead of improve again, he took a sizable step back.
If Wilson can shake it off and get back on schedule, it would be very helpful for the team. PF Marvin Williams is retiring, and PF Ersan Ilyasova is 33 years old himself. It's imperative that the Bucks find a capable stretch PF for the future, not only to back up Giannis at the 4 but also to play alongside him when he slides over to the 5.
This draft may also represent an opportunity to add a rotation player. The Bucks will have Indiana's draft pick -- # 24 overall. It's not likely to yield a star, but they should be able to find a contributor.
Let's take a look at some names to file away. Tyrell Terry (Stanford) is a smaller guard, but he's an elite shooter (41% from 3, 89% from the FT line.) Perhaps he can be our C.J. McCollum -- or at least, our Seth (not Steph) Curry off the bench. Terry's ranked in the 20s, but some sites like The Ringer have him a lot higher (# 9 for them.) Speaking of potential sleepers, I'd be intrigued by PF/C Killian Tillie (Gonzaga). He's also a top notch shooter for his position. He's limited in terms of defense and durability, but playing next to Giannis can cure a lot of problems. I also like SF Robert Woodard II (Mississippi State), a 6'7" wing with 3+D potential.
Regardless of who the Bucks take, they need to show that they can develop him well. As we've mentioned numerous times, this is an older supporting cast that will slowly decay. Replacing those talents with competent rotational players will be key to sustaining the team's success.
step five: have a Plan B, C, D and E in your back pocket
Coach Mike Budenholzer has gotten a lot of flak for his playoff performance, and there's validity to that criticism. Throughout his career, Bud has done a lot better in the regular season than the postseason. He's gotten spanked too many times, losing 3-4 games in a row in a fashion that shouldn't happen for a high-level coach. At times, he appears to be a step slow to adjust, freezes, and watches the train roll over him.
In some ways, I wonder if the Bucks were a victim of their own success here. They've been SO GOOD in the regular season that they've never seemed to need a Plan B. They can lock you down on D, use those transition opportunities to score at will, and dominate the game so easily that Giannis can check out and eat gyros by the 4th quarter.
However, we can see the pitfalls of that when teams slow down their typical gameplan, and cause the Bucks to scramble for new looks. Does this team have the ability to counter-punch?
One potential wrinkle I'd be curious to see is whether they'd be more effective in playoff games with Eric Bledsoe coming off the bench. While George Hill is old, he's still a good 3+D player who can hold the fort at PG. In fact, he's a better shooter and spacer than Bledsoe. For his part, Bledsoe is more of a playmaker and wrecking ball who could theoretically have more freedom and more impact in leading a second unit.
Is that the answer? Is going small the answer? Is playing Giannis closer to 40 minutes (in the playoffs) the answer?
I dunno. But I'm not paid to know. And I'm not expecting Coach Bud to have all the answers right now. But from what we've seen, the team needs to be more willing to throw some potential solutions at the wall and see what sticks rather than allowing themselves to get stomped out of another playoff series. Because if this happens again, they may as well call up United Airlines and get the blond flight attendants ready, because Giannis will be flying out of here.

[Announcement/Recruitment] Up With The Stars: A Submod For A Better Second American Civil War

The Second American Civil War is a key and classic part of Kaiserreich, but while it's hardly bad as-is, it could be a lot better. Many of us have been pointing out issues with the 2ACW for years now, but the KR devs have limited resources to make tweaks - after all, it's a total overhaul mod; there's more to it than just the USA (sorry Dougie). So it's time for a submod, tentatively titled Up With The Stars: A Better Second American Civil War
What are the problems with the 2ACW as currently implemented?
Well, for some examples:
1) The lore is dubious in many places (notably in terms of how fast the AFP and SPA have gained support) and edging on absurd in others (the right-leaning state of Indiana is under the total control of the SPA yet the more heavily unionized state of Montana isn't; there are apparently lots of syndicalists in Southern California who can...revolt and join with the Longists for unclear reasons, etc.).
2) There are many missed opportunities - The Farmer-Labor Party has no real meat to it, and you either spend 200 political power to make it be a 'party of national unity' (despite the fact that conservative Democrats would have little interest in signing up to such a deal) or it becomes irrelevant. Meanwhile, whoever is elected gets to take a whopping one focus while in the White House.
3) The set-up for the war is opaque: how does 'The [SPA/AFP] Gains Political Support' determine whether Iowa or North Carolina stay loyal to the federal government?
4) Gameplay consists of 'spam units and overrun your enemies', although this is partially a failing of the base game. Because of other aspects of the base game, this makes the CSA overpowered even with the unit caps recently implemented (incidentally, I don't care if the CSA being STRONK makes sense based on the lore, see Point #1 above).
5) Flavor seems to have been largely put together by someone not particularly familiar with interwar American history, and while hardly bad and obviously the product of much effort there are many further missed opportunities and implausible occurrences.
6) The 'revolt behind enemy lines' mechanic is rather more annoying than fun.
At the same time, the 2ACW as implemented definitely gets some stuff right:
1) The impacts of the war are felt not just in Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, but throughout Central and South America, and even to China, Liberia, and parts of Europe. Many countries have a chance to send volunteers and equipment to their preferred factions, making the war appropriately seem like a truly major global turning point on the way to the Second Weltkrieg.
2) The winning faction needs to take a long time to fully recover from the conflict.
3) Some of the events manage to effectively tell a story of a country spiraling into chaos and civil war, exactly the way playing the first year-and-a-bit as the USA should feel.
Drawing from, among others, the recent suggestions of u/DexterAamo, this submod will seek to keep and improve upon what works while overhauling what doesn't.
So how will this mod improve things?
Some highlights:
I think the 2ACW is fine as currently set up! This submod is a waste of time!
Great! Nobody is going to force you to download and play with this (although Douglas MacArthur WOULD like to know your location...)
This is not a small project. It is, instead, the equivalent of an official United States/Second American Civil War rework done unofficially - so high quality work will be expected both by those of us on the dev team and those playing the submod. To ensure this quality, I need help, and would like to recruit:
Previous modding experience is preferred, but not necessarily required. A tentative roadmap sees serious modding work commencing after KR 0.15 (and all subsequent hotfixes) drops, with detailed planning and preparation completed before then. A first release would then come either for 0.15.x or 0.16.x. This mod will also have innate compatibility with my Revised National Focus Times submod and will include custom country path political options.
All right, that's enough for now. Come on, loyal Americans! As you prefer: DOWN WITH THE TRAITORS, UP WITH THE STARS! Or BREAK THE CHAINS! Or AVE MACARTHUR! Or EVERY MAN A KING!

Nuggets Specific Draft Big Board

Hey guys! I thought I'd drop my Nuggets specific big board. I'm definitely not a draft expert by any means, but I'm a bit of a fanatic and it's my favorite thing in basketball. Without further ado:
Tier 1 (Trade into the lottery for)
Isaac Okoro (6'6" Fr. Wing - Auburn) My favorite defensive prospect in the draft. Amazing on the ball and is the best potential wing stopper. On offense, his outside shot has its question marks. However, he is a great cutter, finisher, high BBIQ, and an underrated passer.
Devin Vassell (6'7" So. Wing - Florida State) Another amazing defender. Vassell is great off the ball. Legitimate All-Defense potential. He showed flashes as a pull up shooter this year at FSU, mainly from 2. But from the get go will be a good defender, and probably a good enough spot up shooter.
Lamelo Ball (6'7" 19y Guard - Illawarra) This probably won't happen because Lamelo is probably going top 3. However, the idea of the passing duo of Lamelo and Jokic sounds absolutely insane. Lamelo will probably be a top 10 passer in the nba for most of his career. He's an overconfident shooter and doesn't take contact too well, but I think his shot will end up translating eventually when he doesn't have to shoulder the entire load on offense.

Tier 2 (Maybe trade up for if they fall)
Patrick Williams (6'8" Fr. Forward - Florida State) PatWill is an interesting prospect, especially in the context of the Nuggets. He is a 6'8" forward that is one of the best rim protectors in the class. He also projects to be able to shoot spot up 3's. However his hips are weird and don't allow him to guard on the perimeter too well. He fits great along Jokic, but him and MPJ basically play the same position on defense. Kind of a weird fit long term.
Onyeka Okongwu (6'9" Fr. Center - USC) Think better Plumlee. Onyeka will be very good in the NBA for a long time. The fit is kind of weird, but with teams getting bigger like LA, I don't hate the idea of drafting a guy that projects to guard multiple positions and might have a shot at slowing down AD.
Aleksej Pokusevski (7'0" 18y Forward - Olympiacos) Poku has been connected to Denver a few times. He's Serbian which is a plus. He also has one of the weirdest skill sets in the draft. Makes insane passes that either make him look like a genius or going flying into the stands. Shoots every type of shot, coming off screens, pull up 3s, corner spots ups, but shoots them at only 32%. He's a 7footer that gets pushed of the block easier than I would, but also rotates off ball and blocks a lot of shots. Truly an odd prospect that falls into Denver's recent draft strategy of taking high upside swings.
Deni Avdija (6'9" 19y Wing - Tel Aviv) Deni is a strong team defender and weakside rim protecter. He is versatile on offense, decent passer, can handle the ball alright. But his shot is extremely worrisome. He has improved it over the years, yet his FT% is in the 50s. I don't think he will ever be reliable from 3 but he can probably still hit enough of them that the defense has to respect him out there.
Killian Hayes (6'5" 19y Guard - Ulm) Killian is an exciting prospect. His defense is superb. Good point of attack defender and even better at team defense. His passing is exceptional as well. He shot poorly from 3 this year, but has good indicators that he will be a shooter long term (good touch, versatile shot selections, good FT%). Killian is an exciting prospect that could play next to Jamal and give Denver another ball handler in the backcourt.

Tier 3 (Honestly I just really dislike the fit for these guys in Denver and you would basically have to trade up for them)
Anthony Edwards (6'5" Fr. Guard/Wing - Georgia) Hyper athlete that has the potential to be the best player in the draft. But his BBIQ is not that great and he holds onto the ball more than my liking. Very terrified that Edwards will bust.
James Wiseman (7'1" Fr. Center - Memphis) Wiseman is tall and athletic. I can't see him ever working next to Jokic and just a weird fit. Not a chance Denver drafts him. Moving on.
Obi Toppin (6'9" So. Forward - Dayton) Obi is possibly the best offensive player in the draft. Obi is also possibly the worst defensive player in the draft. Too slow to guard wings, too small to guards bigs. Couldn't think of a worse fit defensively for Denver.

Tier 4 (small guards that potentially could play alongside Murray)
Tyrese Maxey (6'3" Fr. Guard - Kentucky) Maxey is falling down boards because of his poor shooting at Kentucky and his inability to be a primary ballhandler. Let me tell you, I think Maxey will for sure shoot at the next level. He has amazing indicators to be a shooter and he shot well in High School. His defense is amazing. He plays defense similarly to Gary Harris. Maxey also won't need to initiate the offense in Denver so the passing and ballhandling is less of a concern. He would functionally play the same role as Gary here. Love Maxey. Love the fit.
Cole Anthony (6'3" Fr. Guard - North Carolina) Cole had an awful year at UNC for sure. He fits Denver's recent draft strategy of drafting a highly ranked high school prospect whose value dropped in college. Cole is probably the best shooting prospect in the class. He will be able to shoot pull up 3s. So that alone is a skill that will get you drafted. He wasn't as explosive in college and hopefully that is because of injury. He has the tools to develop into a decent defender as well. I remain pretty high on Cole especially if he is on a team where he doesn't have a huge playmaking role.
Kira Lewis Jr. (6'3" So. Guard - Alabama) Kira is a speedster. He is very very very fast. Love the idea of Jokic outlet passes to him. He is also a good spot up shooter. Kira also excels as a off ball defender. He even rotates to the rim at times. Adding Kira would give Denver something important that they currently do not have, which is speed.
Tyrese Haliburton (6'5" So. Guard - Iowa State) Basically the ideal 5th starter on any team. Best pnr passer in the draft, and just an amazing passer all around. Wonky shot but shoots it well on spot ups. Great off ball defender that racks up steals. But his handle is kind of slow and he can't really get around guys. He also can't really finish at the rim. His on ball defense has a lot to be desired as he is skinny and guys usually just push him around. Interesting prospect.

Tier 5 (Realistic wing/guards that may be available at 22)
Desmond Bane (6'5" Sr. Guard/Wing - TCU) Bane is a great offensive player. He is the most established shooter in the class, shooting 43% from 3 on 575 attempts throughout college. He is also a plus passer for his position, showing that this year when he took some playmaking duties at TCU. Solid defender despite his short wingspan. He plays big because he is built like a linebacker. Would immediately help Denver and is one of the few guys left on this list that I'm confident would get playing time from the get go.
Josh Green (6'6" Fr. Guard/Wing - Arizona) Josh Green is the last remaining great defensive prospect. He has insane hip movement and a rare ability to navigate screens and stay in front of guys. He would be a cool Ying to Jamal's Yang in the back court. On offense, he is a great transition player and creates a lot of those opportunities himself with his defense. But in the half court, he is lackluster. Very average to below average shooter. Extremely right hand dominate when driving and finishing. I'm not sure I've seen him shoot a left handed layup.
Jaden McDaniels (6'10" Fr. Wing - Washington) Jaden is another highly rated prospect coming out of high school that floundered in college. He has the length to be a great defender and looked good on that end in college. But he played zone in Washington so there are still question marks heading into the league. He is definitely a project. He has really good handles, but he's a poor decision maker. You would hope he refines his outside shooting and hope the strides on defense made at Washington translate to the NBA.
Robert Woodard (6'7" So. Wing - Mississippi St.) Woodard is a very average seeming prospect. Not big enough to guard bigs extremely well, not quick enough to guard wings extremely well. But he is pretty good at both of them. Average spot up shooter and passer. Not the best ballhandler. Will probably stick around the NBA as a very average wing. But hey that's valuable.
Saddiq Bey (6'8" So. Wing - Villanova) A lot of boards and mocks like Bey more than I do. He will for sure shoot spot ups. But other than that I'm not sure he can do much else on offense. He is also very average on defense but he's a 6'8" body that you can through at guys and he probably won't be a huge liability on either end.
Aaron Nesmith (6'6" So. Guard/Wing - Vanderbilt) Nesmith will probably shoot at the next level, however I have concern that a lot of his success was playing against lesser competition. He got injured right before conference play. A bit of a 2/3 tweener on defense but he tries hard. But his shooting will probably keep him around in the Korver role.
Leandro Bolmaro (6'7" 20y Guard/Wing - Barcelona) Bolmaro is a high potential draft and stash guy. His shot needs work but his playmaking is awesome. He's a great passer. On defense he shut downs anyone smaller than him. He just absolutely hounds the ballhandler. So you draft him and hope his shot gets better, if that happens he will surely be a good rotation player.
RJ Hampton (6'5" 19y Guard - NZ Breakers) Another hyper athlete. RJ has insane potential and watching his highlights you'd think he would be top 5 pick. However he hasn't quite put it all together. He would be brought along slowly in Denver but he probably won't drop to 22.
Tyrell Terry (6'1" Fr. Guard - Stanford) If Terry was 3 inches taller he would be way higher. He is a great playmaker, can shoot on and off ball, good finisher. But he is so small. He is listed at 6'1" but he looks smaller. He has a slight frame and I'm worried he'll just get abused on defense.
Grant Riller (6'3" Sr. Guard - Charleston) Riller is a phenomenal scorer at every level. He probably won't be good enough to start, but will succeed off the bench in a Lou Williams role. He played in a weak conference and there are question marks on defense. But the scoring is undeniable.

Tier 6 (Backup PGs and Cs)
Theo Maledon (6'5" 19y Guard - ASVEL) Combo guard from France. He will likely be a good shooter and decent playmaker in the NBA. He has a stark lack of burst that hinder him on offense and defense. Might not be quick enough to stick around.
Xavier Tillman (6'8" Jr. Center - Michigan St.) Maybe the best player in college last year. Great defense. Though he's small, he's a brick wall and played well against NBA level competition in the Big 10 last year. Good passer out of the short roll, great footwork down low. A little small for a center, but does everything right.
Malachi Flynn (6'1" Jr. Guard - San Diego St.) Small guard but absolutely terrorizes defenses running the pick and roll. Solid shooter, great floater game. Just might be too small to be a starting point guard.
Killian Tillie (6'10" Sr. Big - Gonzaga) Tillie would be a top 10 pick if he could stay healthy. He has dealt with constant injuries his entire career. If he somehow stays healthy, you'd be getting a strong point of attack defensive big that can do it all on offense. He can shoot, pass, dribble, block shots, move his feet. All around great player that cannot stay on the floor enough to get him drafted high.
Nico Mannion (6'2" Fr. Guard - Arizona) Another small guard that projects to be a back up. Nico is a good shooter and great without the ball, constantly moving. He tries hard on defense and won't be a huge negative on that end. Best in a system where he can use his off ball smarts to leverage advantages.
Zeke Nnaji (6'11" Fr. Big - Arizona) Nnaji projects to be a decent shooter. Good looking stroke that he should be able to stretch out to the corners. He is also really mobile for a guy of his size. However he has a slow reaction time and spaces out on defense at times. A lot of potential and with the right coaching could develop into a 3 & D big.
Precious Achiuwa (6'9" Fr. Big - Memphis) Precious is Kenneth Faried. Super athletic. Probably won't ever be a shooter. Runs the court well and can dunk on anyone. His decision making on both ends is bad and I don't trust him doing anything but finishing plays, but there is potential for him to be able to guard on the perimeter and be a solid player in the dunker spot.
Jalen Smith (6'10" So. Big - Maryland) Jalen Smith is a really weird prospect. He is an awesome shooter and even a decent ballhandler for someone his size. I'm really skeptical of his defense however. Should be good as a rim protector but he is so slow. He can't stay in front of anyone. I'm afraid he will be eaten alive against NBA pick and rolls.
Tre Jones (6'2" So. Guard - Duke) Pretty good point guard defender. His shot got better this year too. I don't think he's ever a starter, but could be a decent Monte replacement.
Cassius Winston (6'1" Sr. Guard - Michigan St.) One of the most accomplished players in this draft. Cash is an awesome shooter and playmaker. Also plays with a joy unlike a lot of players. I'm worried that he'll be too small for the NBA and that will effect him on both sides of the ball.

Tier 7 (Second Round guys)
Isiah Joe (6'4" So. Guard - Arkansas) One of the better shooting prospects in the draft. Super slender and will need to put on muscle.
Tyler Bey (6'7" Jr. Wing - Colorado) Tyler Bey is interesting. I don't know what he does on offense. He basically played center on offense at Colorado. His defense looks good because of his stocks numbers but he got lost a lot and made weird rotations. I think he'll be a bigger Torrey Craig.
Nate Hinton (6'4" So. Guard/Wing - Houston) Hinton is the best guard rebounder I've ever seen. He will defend and be a positive on that side of the floor in the NBA. Just pray that he learns to fix the hitch in his shot.
Ty-Shon Alexander (6'4" Jr. Guard - Creighton) Incredible off ball defender. Absolute glues to guys running off of screens. Probably will shoot on offense and is a plus passer. But he has a slight frame and not much burst.
Mason Jones (6'5" Jr. Guard - Arkansas) Weird player. Prolific scorer in college. He plays with zero hops and no burst. Has a weird herky-jerky style that may not translate to the NBA.
Devon Dotson (6'2" Sr. Guard - Kansas) Great on the nail defender. Lightning fast. But his shot is question mark and you have to be really good to be 6'2" without a shot in today's NBA.
Naji Marshall (6'7" Jr. Wing - Xavier) Marshall is great at attacking closeouts and isn't a black hole on offense. Solid defender. The swing skill is shooting. He was confident in college but didn't really see good results.
Abdoulaye N’Doye (6'6" 22y Guard/Wing - Cholet) Ran the offense at Cholet last year. Poor handle but he is a solid playmaker. He has a 7'2" wingspan and is good at disrupting on defense. He shot it well on low attempts last year. But he is one of the last remaining draft and stash guys.
Paul Reed (6'10" Jr. Big - DePaul) Wild defensive playmaker, but he gambles a bit too much for my liking. He will likely be a good defensive player. But he has to shoot to provide value on offense and that is not a sure thing by any means.
Lamine Diane (6'7" So. Wing - Cal State Northridge) Wonky player on offense but he still finds a way to score and playmake. A bit of a project player which is worrisome because he is already 23.
Vernon Carey (6'10" Fr. Center - Duke) Traditional center. Showed some decent shooting and passing flashes.
Isiah Stewart (6'9" Fr. Center - Washington) Undersized center. Tries hard on both ends of the floor but I have a hard time seeing him in a rotation at the NBA level.
Jalen Harris (6'5" Jr. Guard - Nevada) Skilled scorer. Probably an off the bench guy.
Sam Merrill (6'5" Sr. Guard/Wing - Utah St.) Smart player with good shooting and passing chops. Smart and tries hard on defense. But he is really old and may be not athletic enough for the NBA.
Skylar Mays (6'4" Sr. Guard - LSU) Crafty scorer and playmaker. High BBIQ makes him a good defender. Just not sure if he's quick enough to make it all work at the next level.
Tres Tinkle (6'7" So. Wing - Oregon St.) Will probably shoot. Good team defender and solid passer. He's going to need to put on some muscle and get a bit quicker to keep up though.
Jay Scrubb (6'6" 20y Wing - HS) Super athlete that needs to hone his shot and defense.
Immanuel Quickley (6'3" Fr. Guard - Kentucky) All he does is shoot. He's a good shooter, but it's all he's got.
Borisa Simanic (6'11" 22y Big - Crvena zvezda) Draft and stash big from Serbia. He is a great shooter statistically but doesn't take very many. Solid rim protector as well.
CJ Elleby (6'6" So. Wing - Washington St.) Projects to be a very good shooter. Not sure what else he does though.

If I missed someone, it's because I don't have a strong opinion on them. Some of my favorite plays are trading up for Okoro or Vassell, getting Maxey, Cole, or Poku at 22, and drafting Hinton, Isiah Joe, or Naji Marshall in the second round. I'd love to hear what you agree of disagree with!

~
Pranav Tigress strides in a huge steampunk esque look, a fan huffing along to the back of his tall shoulders. “Ready…” He huffs into a trumpet.
“Set…”
He blows.
“GO!” He blows the Trumpet again and suddenly the steampunk look falls to the ground, revealing a manly suit. “Surprise.”
Pranav Tigress: “As my darling says, Roar.” He smiles. “I am Pranav, Drag… and Real Husband to Priya Tigress. I am a Pageant King at heart- but I love, love to take it to a strange place. Make it a bit strange, avant-garde… weird. Camp it at the core of Pranav Tigress- I mean, I am an Indian Drag Pageant King! It’s a thousand differing perspectives at once, creating… myself. Mr Tigress.” Pranav smiles. “I am just… in awe. It’s here, and I am ready for this.”
Pranav sits on his stool. “King Entering the werkroom first… a good sign.”
Francesca Cartier shines in a glittering gold dress, covered in thousands of rhinestones. Adorned on her neck is a sparkling diamond necklace- her face effortless painted, and huge curly brown wig on show. “Someone had to steal the show.” She smirks.
Pranav gasps. “Fran…”
“Oh my love, it’s always a joy to see you.” She kisses Pranav on the cheek, leaving a mark. “You still look amazing…”
“And you…” Pranav smiles. “I am speechless.”
“These?” Francesca shows her earrings underneath her huge wig. “Tiger inspired. Ready for the jungle.”
Francesca Cartier: “Hello, Superstars. I am Francesca.” Glitter slides across the screen. “I am the Mother and Father of the Haus of Cartier. Though I may have a reputation…” Fran looks into the camera. “I can tell you I am nothing of the sort. The Cartier’s are the definition of DRAG. A Drag Artist should have multiple skills in the book- visuals, performance, comedy. That’s what I do. Always excellent with a smile.” Fran grins. “I don’t limit myself to the binary. I am sometimes Francesca Cartier, Glamorpuss Performer… and other times, Franesco Cartier, Bio King who loves to play with femininity. I was a trained ballet dancer for 16 years, something I love to put into my drag. I promise you, a Cartier… always shines.”
Pranav Tigress: “Me and Fran were… involved before Priya. It’s hard because… Priya’s not a fan. So it’s been a while. And now we’re here, in this room… together.”
“How have you been?” Pranav smiles.
“I’ve been fabulous. Grabbing titles…” Francesca laughs. “I won-”
“Ms Gay Makeup 2022.” Pranav smiles.
“Keeping track?” Francesca laughs.
“Oh, no.. I just love to watch the videos…”
Francesca smirks. “Well, I hope you liked the leather ballet show…”
“I did.” Pranav grins.
The Aspect of Gambles twirls into the werkroom in a huge starry cape, tophat and a cane. “Let’s do some..” Gambles snaps his fingers… and the cane transforms into a bouquet. “FUCKING MAGIC!”
“Oh.” Francesca laughs.
“GAMBLES!” Pranav yells.
The Aspect of Gambles: “I’m the Aspect of Gambles, and I’m a fucking mess.” Gambles laughs. “Wait, Wait… Let’s Rewind. I’m the Aspect of Gambles, and I’m the King of Magic. I am 50 Years old, living in Vegas and yes… I am a real Magician. To me, Drag is the goddamn RUSH of performance. The drive. The WOW. That’s what The Aspect of Gambles is. Pure… performance… MAGIC. I’m new to drag, but not to magic. Smile, don’t worry… that’s what I want to deliver. As you can probably tell from my name… I am of the Royal Haus, yes… The Wealth branch and proud.”
“Brother…” Pranav hugs Gambles tightly.
The Aspect of Gambles: “The Tigresses and our Branch is really close. Pranav? Practically family…”
“Oh, so cute…” Francesca grins. “Francesca Cartier…”
“Oh.” Gambles nods. “Lovely to meet you…”
“You look marvelous.” Francesca smiles.
“Let’s be honest, I look like CRAP compared to you!” Gambles cackles.
“Oh…” Francesca laughs. “Don’t say that...”
Ina Only struts into the werkroom in black boots so high they reach her butt, a tight rockstar mini dress and a huge spiky haired look. “This isn’t Dragula All Scars…”
“Woah.” Gambles smiles.
Ina Only: “I’m Ina Only, and I am a SUPERSTAR. Most people would know me as being Top 3 in Season 2 of DRAGULA… and yes, I’m the first Dragula Queen on Virtual Drag Race… and isn’t that sick.” Ina laughs. “On my last detour, Ina was a shy Punk… Horror Queen who often let her performance get in the way by doubt. But I’m not her anymore. I have the confidence, the attitude and the dance skills. To all those Monarch’s who said… ‘You Belong on Drag Race, not Dragula…’ well… maybe you were right. Because I’m taking this crown.” Ina smirks.
“Ina Only!” Pranav smiles. “Dragula!”
“God, the diversity in this season already… it’s fantastic.” Francesca smiles. “You look sickening.”
“Made it all by myself.” Ina grins.
“UGH, she can sew too!” Gamble laughs. “The one thing I never really got…”
“You do know what show we are on, right?” Pranav smirks at Gambles.
Gambles laughs, punching Pranav on the shoulder. “Tomana, you dick....” He smirks.
Omega Maddorufu walks into the werkroom, their huge frame on display, muscles in opposition to a flower country style simple white gown. “Thus Muscle Queen has a few secrets up his sleeve.”
“Yes Muscles!” Ina laughs.
Omega Maddorfu: “Hey Hey Hey!” Omega laughs. “I am Omega Maddorfu and MAN… I am excited to be here. Omega is inspired by my hometown- Rustic, Mature and Country. I am a tall dude out of drag, and yes… I am a bit of a Jock. I love transforming into the Drag Superstar- It’s about having fun, making people smile… and going MAD. Drag is a fun little hobby for myself- I am a university student, studying psychology by day… and a Drag Queen by Night. It’s a bit wild. And it certainly… complicates getting a girlfriend sometimes. Who knew women would find a straight drag king weird?” Omega grins.
“Hey Everyone!” Omega waves.
“What’s your name?” Pranav smiles.
“Omega Maddorufu.. Dallas, Texas.” Omega smiles.
“What do you do, Omega?” Francesca grins.
“Perform. I live to dominate a stage, man.” Omega claps into his hand. “It’s so much damn fun.”
“Love it.” Gambles grins.
Damocles Nigel Dragan walks out in a look that has him appearing to be a part-dragon, mid-transition into the full Draconic form. He spins… and wings extend outwards, and the true form is revealed.
Damocles Nigel Dragan: “I am Damocles Nigel Dragan… and I am here to take your hand, make you smile… and open you to a world of your wildest imaginations.” Damocles smiles. “I am a Drag King, and the definition of transformative. My drag is conceptual, crafty and character based. I love to theorise, think, then create in the world of reality. Not simple… not dramatic, but transformative on both a mental… and internal level. Drag is… a world for all, and I’m here to welcome those to a whole new take on it.”
“So fantastical…” Ina nods. “The quality…”
“Thank you. It was… a pain to make.” Damo smiles. “Damocles Nigel Dragan.”
“A season of fabulous Kings already.” Gambles takes a fan out from thin air. “Hell yes.”
Joan of Snark walks out in a huge metallic suit of armor, a halo on top, and a french sword, raised in the air. “I am not afraid… I was BORN to do this.”
Damo gasps. “My…”
Joan Of Snark: “Hello! My name is Joan of Snark, and this is how my arc begins. Hello, France!” Joan laughs. “I am a Drag Queen Joan of Arc impersonator. Now, I know… what does that even mean? But… all I say is I give you… French Peasant Galore.” Joan laughs. “I’m the Holy Queen of the Season, so let’s hope… I don’t get burned at the stake!” Joan smiles.
“Oh my, where is this place?” Joan gasps.
“Drag Race.” Domo smiles.
“This isn’t FRANCE.” Joan twirls around. “What witchcraft is this?!”
Everyone looks confused, except for Damo.
Joan stands on a table. “Let US FIGHT, FOR OUR COUNTRY!”
Damo starts clapping. “Oh, a character piece..”
“Character? I am France, you british fool!” Joan smirks.
“Well, don’t battle a DRAGON.” Damo roars.
“I AM NOT SCARED!” Joan yells.
“This is cute.” Pranav smiles.
Britt-Maj Canthwalks out in stunning blond wig, wearing an ultra-modern black pinstripe suit that borders on the middle of both masculine and femine. “ don't feel that it is necessary to know exactly what I am. The main interest in life and work is to become someone else that you were not in the beginning. I decided to become a Drag Queen!” Britt winks.
Britt-Maj Canth: “Did you expect a Michel Foucault quote on Drag Race? Probably not, right?” Britt smiles. “I’m the thinking Queen of Scandinavia, moved all over to the Big Apple! First and foremost, Britt is THINK. Think about society, think about life, think about sex… and go… hmm.. Maybe there’s more to my initial perspectives. Mix that with a high-quality dance break, or a sickening performance along with a sleek look, and you’ve got Britt. I am here to give you quality. A Drag Queen who knows what she delivers… and does it well.” Britt purses her lips.
“Ladies and Gentlemen…” Britt raises her hand in the air. “Your winner is here.”
“Oh, someone is a physic!” Joan laughs.
“Perhaps I just know where to find others Achilles Heel…” Britt smirks.
“Francesca Cartier.” Francesca extends her arm.
“Dripping in Jewels, talk about an argument for communism!” Britt quips.
A few laughs… and Francesca smirks. “Hmm.. Yes.”
Haky Gardens enters the werkroom in shining blue dance suit, ready for a moment of skating on ice or dancing her but off. “Season 13?” Haky instantly death drops, making everyone gasp. “Let’s do this.”
“We have a woman down! She’s done a drop of death!” Joan yelps.
Haky Gardens: “I’m Haky Gardens, and I am your favourite.” Haky smirks. “I am 25 years old, living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was determined to become the best of the best in Michigan, and I’ve smashed that category, and I did. I’m from the Gardens, a well known Pageant House… but believe me, you won’t be seeing a gown unless we’re giving eleganza. Haky is ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Ready to dance. Shablam, Emotions, Attitude, D-A-N-C-E. That is me. I have goals, and I know that once I put my mind to a task, I will achieve it. This time… it’s America’s Next Drag Superstar. I want a crown, and i’ll get one.”
“Haky Garden’s, of the Garden Haus…” Pranav smiles. “Another Pageant Queen.. Welcome.”
“Oh, Pageant… why limit yourself? I’m so much more.” Haky grins.
“Dancer?” Francesca smiles.
“How could you tell?” Haky laughs. “Yes. I’m a dancer.”
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul, they say…” Britt extends her hand.
“Dance is fire and ice, for me.” Haky grins.
“I wonder which one you are today.” Britt smirks.
“Oooh, La La…” Dahlia Diamondix strides in with jet black hair, neon green eyeshadow and a couture pastel dress.. Covered in shining gold chains. “Daddy?” She takes out her phone. “I’m HERE.” She throws it backwards, and the screen cracks. “Whoops. I have another though!” She takes an iPhone 14, giggling along.
Dahlia Diamondix: “HI, I’m Dahlia Diamondix and UGH, I’m like… here. Most people would know me for the glamorous, the beautiful gorgeous looks I serve, and that glamorous makeup style I always have on… even out of drag.” Dahlia winks. “I’m inspired by Pop Princesses but with an Alien Twist. Pretty, party, neon.” Dahlia snaps her fingers. “I’m the pretty one, I KNOW.” Dahlia tears up. “Oh my god, I’m here oh my god I just realised AH!” Dahlia wipes the tear with one of her perfect nails. “I’m not ruining this makeup, it cost like five hundred dollars…”
“Gorgeous.” Fransesca smiles.
“Hi Ladies and Gentlemen…” Dahlia smiles. “It’s like… exciting to be here.”
“How old are you girl, where are you from?” Ina smiles.
“21, Living in Palo Alto, CA. You’d probably all recognize me…” Dahlia smiles.
Everyone shrugs.
Britt-Maj Canth: “I mean, let’s be honest…”
“I am a makeup youtuber!” Dahlia yelps.
Britt-Maj Canth: “It’s not the most intellectual thing.”
Xena Von Hall looks effortlessly elegant as she enters the werkroom, covered in jewels, straight out of a Vintage Pageant Show. “Glamour, darlings…”
Xena Von Hall: “I am Xena Von Hall, and I am the Essence of Pageant Pristine. Elegant, Shining, Stunning, and always shining. I am an… older Queen, and late to the game, but that doesn’t mean a single thing I give is nothing but quality. I am inspired by my family lineage- the glamorous women that came the generations before, and gave a level of glamour that is… often lost in these times. I am here to reclaim that. My drag is polish, and I demand excellence from myself. Always.”
“Xena, daaaaarling…” Francesca smiles. “You look marvelous.”
The two kiss each other on the cheek. “Fabulous to see you.” Xena smiles.
“Coming back to the Pageant World, then?” Francesca smirks.
Xena Von Hall: “I have competed in a few pageants, but I decided to leave that scene behind. That competitive location was not great for my mind. But Fran? She’s fun, she’s gorgeous… and she’s always, ALWAYS stunning.”
Producer: “And do you trust her?”
Xena Von Hall: “Oh, not at all.”
Ms Dearly Beloved looks like a perfect 1950’s Housewife as she strides in, apron with the words ‘Dearly’ on the front. “Oh, my Gods, there’s so many freaks here!”
“FREAKS?!” Dahlia yelps.
“I am a freak.” Domo smirks. “I’ll take it.”
“A- Fucking greed.” Gambles laughs.
Ms Dearly Beloved: “I am Ms Dearly Beloved, and I am the Missy of the South. I’m a proud drag Queen Living in Raleigh, North Carolina. My Drag is classically beautiful with a Southern Flair. I know a few cooks in the kitchen aren’t fan of the South.. But darling, I’m Proud to be Southern. I am the quintessential housewife of Drag- Feminine, beautiful, and glorious.”
“Hello Ladies…” Dearly curtseys.
“So what do you do, girl?” Ina smiles.
“I do the truest form of drag.” Miss Dearly Beloved smiles.
“Wow, you just opened a can of works…” Pranav laughs.
“What’s truest form, stereotypical white woman?” Britt-Maj looks at Dearly and shrugs.
“Oh my.” Dearly looks awkwardly.
Miss Dearly Beloved: “I was just making a comment! These city Queens… they have their own little… things don’t they.”
“BOOM.” Gun Anna walks out in an American flag mini dress, and a huge blue wig. “BAM.” She takes out a gun, shocking a number of other Monarch’s. “AMERICA.”
Gun Anna: “I am Gun Anna and I am not the Gun, I am the An-” Gun Anna stops. “I am not just Anna, but I am the GUN. Because this is America and here, we have guns. Deal with it.” Gun Anna smirks. “I am a Dance, Zumba Instructor Drag Queen Galore. I’m from the small town of MENDENHALL, MISSISSIPPI! Now ya’ll may think it’s a bit weird, that ain’t no city clicker… but I don’t mind too much! Growing up as a gay kid was hard, and becoming a drag queen was even CRAZIER. But the ladies LIVE FOR IT. Drag is me entering the world and have fun. We’re not weirdos… we’re just FIERCE. That’s what Gun Anna is. Big bobes, blonde, gorgeous beauty. Oh, with a touch of disney.”
“Oh my…” Ms Dearly smiles.
“A TRAMP IS HERE!” Britt laughs. “I think i’m going to like you…”
“Ain’t we all pretty little tramps?” Anna smirks.
“No.” Xena nods.
Anna looks at Xena, then turns to the rest of the group. “So how ya’ll feeling toda-”
“BITCHES.” Tropicana walks out of a 2022 Hit Music Video. A Sleek, bright coloured dress and a gorgeous blonde wig to match. “You scared?”
“SIS.” Dahlia yelps.
Tropicana: “I’m Tropicana and baby? You know me. I am formerly of the haus of Juice, but we don’t talk about that. Yes, I dance, yes I am a showstopper, but I’m better then THAT haus.” Tropicana rolls her eyes. “Unlike others, I am not stuck in the 1990s. I’m the ultra modern beauty. Everything Kylie Jenner wears? It’s inspired by Tropicana. No bullshit, just… the best.” Tropicana shrugs. “I don’t stop.”
Pranav looks awkwardly.
“HHSAHJSHAJDHAJDHA!” Dahlia utters in a completely ineligible language as she hugs Tropicana. “YES!”
“I’m guessing you two know each other?” Haky smirks. “
Dahlia nods. “Fierce. We’ve been talking on instagram for like…”
“Years now, sis.” Tropicana smirks.
“Oh this is so goooooood!” Tropicana smirks.
“Tropicana.” Pranav smiles.
Pranav Tigress: “Tropicana is interesting… She's known for being…. A bit of an uh…. Oh, I feel bad. But… Mess?” Pranav looks shyly.
“How are you, grandpa?” Tropicana smiles.
Pranav laughs. “I am well…”
“Mwah.” Creola Serpentine-Blac sashays into the werkroom, looking like the definition of a SUPERMODEL. A snakelike figure courses through her black dress, appearing to enter through her skin. “Kisses.”
Everyone looks gagged.
“Creola Blac Bitch.” Ina smiles.
Creola Serpentine-Blac: “Hi babies of every gender… I’m Blac.” Creola smirks. “My name is Creola Serpentine-Blac, and I am the first child of SB in this marvelous little world. I am a trans woman of colour, and like our legendary winner, Fame Fontaine… I have italian roots too.” Creola smiles. “I am a model and visual artist. I love to convey meaning, transform and give a story- making a statement through the sheer art of creation. But fashion isn’t simply what I do. I dance, I perform, and I am comedic. I love to act, and I love to impersonate. At the end of the day… I am just here to give my all, and watch it go the way… I hope.” Creola laughs.
“The Name on everybody’s lips…” Francesca smiles.
“The beauty! IT’S TOO MUCH!” Joan yells.
Creola laughs.
“Who’s this ugly supermodel?” Britt-Maj laughs and hugs Creola. “Great look. Not a fan of the wig.”
“Too much?” Creola looks at Britt.
“Not enough.” Britt shakes her head. “It’s so good to have a New York City resident.”
Creola grins at Britt. “Agreed.”
“New York City… Fancy.” Gun Anna shrugs. “Not my cup of tea....”
“Oh, agreed.” Ms Dearly Beloved nods.
“Uhm??” Tropicana looks at Creola.
“Oh hey girl…” Creola hugs Tropicana awkwardly. “So how have you been…”
“Well, I’m solo now so i’m fierce as ever-”
“Next QUEEN!” Britt yells.
Gambles laughs at Britt. “Moving on the awkward…”
Britt winks. “I live for chaos, but let’s not deny it’s… not productive.” She laughs.
Oh, Sophie!
“AH CRAP!” Gun Anna gets scared, and her fake gun fires into the air, hitting the roof.
“Wait… that was a real gun?” Omega looks at Anna.
“Oh, ya’ll it’s just full of jellybeans.” Gun Anna shrugs. “Don’t mind i’ll just..”
She grabs the gun into her mouth, and pushes the trigger, then swallows. “Delicious.”
“This is weird.” Damo looks at Gambles.
“I think I have to agree.” Gambles laughs.
Now, you’re the best of the best. Or are you? Some of you will be legends… time to prove it.
“I’m ready.” Haky smirks at the screen.

Creola Serpentine-Blac: “This is a chance for me to shine, an enter this competition with a bang. I know I have a lot to prove… so… let’s meet the mark.” Creola smirks. “I’m ready for it.”
Gun Anna, as this week’s mini challenge winner, you get to assign the boxes.
Gun Anna smiles. “So ya’ll..” Anna smirks. “I don’t care as long as I get the tiger print box. RUN and catch!”
Tropicana sprints, and everyone runs over to get the boxes.
Gun Anna: “Sheep. Fighting! I’m not saying it was strat-” Anna ponders. “Strat-e-gi-c? Yes. STRATEGIC.”

Sophie goes to visit the Monarch’s in the werkroom.
Ina Only…
“Sophie…” Ina smiles.
Now, I am excited to have you here, as our first dragula transition…
“It’s been pretty damn exciting.” Ina smirks.
How do you feel about this challenge?
“I think it’s made for me, and to be The Ripper? It’s a damn sign.” Ina laughs.
Sophie smiles.
How so?
“The Ripper was a kinky, leather bound Queen who was our first winner. She proved to us all that DRAG isn’t just glamorous, beautiful. Being the first winner and being different from the mould kinda made me… a young, trans woman realise… I could be a TV star.” Ina grins.
I love that story. And I love that I have someone like you, here. It makes me feel so much more comfortable, because… I feel more understanding. We have these lived, similar experiences. It’s.. important.
“It is.” Ina nods.
Dahlia Diamondix….
“Ahh, Sophie!” Dahlia yelps.
So, whose box did you get…
“Uhm, the WINNER, FAME. So like… a good sign, you know?” Dahlia twirls her hair around her finger.
Perfect. A good box. Do you sew?
“I normally get people to do it FOR me, but I know. I’ll deliver fashion at 110, so... “ Dahlia smiles. “I’m excited, Sophie.”
How will you meet the spirit of both Dahlia and Fame?
“I’m going to be gorgeous, beautiful and fun.” Dahlia winks.
Interesting. I look forward to seeing this, Dahlia.
“Get ready, Sophie…” Dahlia smiles.
~
As they get ready, Gambles chats with Damo.
“I must say…” Damo smiles. “The Magic aspects… it is incredibly interesting.”
“It’s a lifelong passion.” Gambles nods. “A fucking joyride.”
“Oh, so you were always practicing Magic?” Damocles smiles.
“Illusion, Magic, Sleight of Hand since 18.” Gambles grins. “It’s my passion, my driving force…my own world”
“I love that.” Damocles smiles. “My own world… that line speaks to me. That’s what I do for my own drag.”
“Good!” Gambles smirks. “That’s DRAG to me. I mean, I’m new…”
“Really?” Damocles nods. “I can’t tell, honestly…”
“Oh…” Gambles winks. “Sure you can’t. No, it’s been 4 years.. But I wasn’t always a Drag King. I used to perform under another name…”
“Oh, really?” Damocles looks at Gambles. “You were..?”
“Mademoiselle Mimezzra. Showgirl Magus Supreme.” Gambles laughs. “Not quite myself, you see…”
Damocles gaps, realizing. “I had idea you were… also trans.”
“Ah.” Gambles nods. “I thought I knew… but it’s good to confirm.”
“How did you know?” Damocles looks surprised.
“We know each other. And I mean… Magic.” The Aspect Of Gambles laughs.
Damocles smiles. “I think I’m going to like you…”

so this is how it happens

maybe some of you here now were people that, at some point (annoyingly) asked, “why didn’t people leave for Katrina?” when the last real hit before 2005 was Betsy in the 60s. years, decades of that right turn, facilitated by the outflow shelf and the relatively colder mississippi river flow and maybe just enough dry air or a low enough oppositional pattern. years, decades of this intensity of preparation, time, money, and nothing but a day or two of cool, rainy wind. years, decades and you start to gamble, or inherit and build so much in your life that evacuation seems like an impossible task. you’ll say “the levees are better now” (we said that last time) you’ll have pets to worry about (they weren’t allowed to be brought last time), or break-ins, or relatives, or just not enough money. or things get really bad and you want to go protect your property or the sentimental things that were too big to bring, or gut before it gets moldy, or check on a vulnerable friend that couldn’t leave, but they wont let you back in, even though you can see the fires from the checkpoint. (they let us back in bc we know people but the people turned away at the parish line were falling apart at being held there.) it wouldn’t even feel like something of note to me unless the pandemic brought back this old feeling of ‘how can i possibly leave?’ years, decades and then you’re trapped. years, decades of the stress of selfish employers deciding if to close based on their predictions, not on whether you have to tighten up your yard, gutters, windows, plans. and if it had stayed cat 2 and came here, would those stripper pole evacuation sites be well handled in a 12hr window by this (or by any) mayor (in our history?
.
so you didnt listen to the night of the monster, and drink while wearing football helmets, or pop the door occasionally so the pressure in your head would go down. you didn’t pass out and drift through hours of the quietest it’s ever been in your life, even more than a camp because the animals were silent, too. you didn’t wake up to the boom of your ice box floating over, and a foot or more of water, and your mattress soaked and floating on it thinking (did i piss myself?) you didnt find the windows and doors long swollen shut from the water, bars blocking your escape, yanking down the attic stairs because you were lucky enough to have those, grabbing a cat and a dog and wishing the fish farewell, grabbing your backup hard drive, climbing the stairs and hoping you left an axe or a battery sawzall or something up there so it doesnt become your broiling oven, waiting on your baking hot roof for 3 days in the sun as everyone in the world flies over and fires are visible from all around, being hung from a helicopter like stunt bait, hoping it doesnt drop you like a case of water on the roof of a hospital, wondering if the nasty water was making you very sick, wondering if an angry desperate person was going to shoot at you, knowing your neighbor is dead in her attic if she even made it there- the lady with the unbelievable pies. and all the things you like are closed down now (ok that last part is still true).

Three Offseason Moves for Each Team

Undertaking a fairly large project here. The aim is to give each team a plausible trade, signing, and draft pick over the 2020 NBA offseason in order to boost each team's prospects in the upcoming 2020-2021 season. While I can't promise they all will be, I'll try and keep the trades as player-specific, rather than something like "Knicks trading up to draft Ball" or something like that.
I will also try (no promises) to do the trade in conjunction with one another. So it would ideally be proposed as 3-moves to make together, not 3 separate moves to make. Again, no promises, and I'll clarify if I'm suggest one as an alternative, but that will be the aim if I can find a pattern I like.
Also, some players listed in free agency signings do have player options, so we'll treat them all as possibilities to a certain degree. And also, just because your team's player is listed as a trade move for one team doesn't mean they are moving them, just that there either have been rumors they'd be available, or simply that the listed team would be interested in acquiring them.

Atlanta Hawks

Draft Pick: G/F Isaac Okoro, Auburn
With plenty of promising scorers, the Hawks should target Okoro to add to their defensive capacity on the wing. Okoro is a very selfless player, and would fit well into a lineup with Trae Young, John Collins and Clint Capela, amongst other promising young players. While ultimately, the Hawks may actually be best suited packaging this pick in a trade, if they stick at #6 overall, Okoro sure would be a good addition for Atlanta.
Signing: F JaMychal Green, Los Angeles Clippers
The Hawks have a few players who can fill minutes behind John Collins at the 4, such as De'Andre Hunter. But adding a clear backup for Collins would round the depth a bit cleaner. Insert JaMychal Green, a quality shooter (39% last season), who still be able to keep the post clear for Clint Capela, will giving Atlanta an excellent depth addition should he decline his player option in LAC and seek out a new opportunity.
Trade: G Victor Oladipo, Indiana Pacers
Oladipo would be interesting backcourt partner with Trae Young. In addition to being a high-caliber defender, Oladipo also has the ability to handle the ball when Young isn't on the court. While Indiana risks losing Oladipo down the road for nothing, shipping him off to the rising Hawks, who will be angling for a playoff run next season. Oladipo could be a big piece of that run, and perhaps even help them contend for more if returns to his All-Star form.

Boston Celtics

Draft Pick: F Patrick Williams, Florida State
The Celtics have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA, and selecting back at #13 overall means they'll really just be able to target the best player available. If Patrick Williams is available at 13 however, he should definitely be considered, as his versatility would help continue loading up the Celtics bench. And with Williams being a bit raw offensively, the Celtics can afford to take a chance on his upside and develop him under Brad Stevens further.
Signing: F Joe Harris, Brooklyn Nets
A 6'6 sharpshooter, Harris would be a fun add to the Celtics rotation. It may take some small moves to create the space for him, but adding the career 3-point marksman would fit in well with the versatile athletes around him like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, and help the second unit stretch the floor when he comes off the bench.
Trade: C Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers
Turner seems like he has been connected to the Celtics for a little while now, and it makes plenty of sense. The Pacers will likely be looking for players who fit better around Domantas Sabonis, and that could give an opportunity for the Celtics to move for Turner. Turner would fit well in the Celtics lineup at the center position, where right now the Celtics have some quality role players, but no star. By adding Turner, the Celtics would have one of the best all-around starting 5's in the entire league (Kemba-Smart-Brown-Tatum-Turner).

Brooklyn Nets

Draft Pick: G Josh Green, Arizona
Finding players who can work alongside Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant will be key, and Green's defense and off-ball ability make him well suited to this role. Picking #19 overall will make it difficult to add an instant impact rotation, but Green would have a good chance to find minutes with his skill set.
Signing: C Aron Baynes, Phoenix Suns
Should the Nets see themselves dishing out C Jarrett Allen in a blockbuster trade for a third star (see below), then a backup center becomes a big priority for the Nets. The solution here is Baynes, a hard-working center who had a career season shooting the ball. He'd fit nicely behind DeAndre Jordan.
Trade: G Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
If Beal is available, the Nets should be keen to add him to the mix. Able to offer the most enticing players to any blockbuster package (Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen), the Nets could find their third star to pair with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant when the two return next season. Adding Beal to the mix would immediately vault the Nets all the way to Finals contenders, if the return of Durant and Irving themselves don't already accomplish that.

Chicago Bulls

Draft Pick: PG LaMelo Ball, Australia
If he's on the board at the #4 overall pick, the Bulls should be keen on bringing LaMelo in to the Windy City. Perhaps the Draft's best playmaker, he could fit well with scoring guards like Coby White and Zach LaVine, while operating a dangerous pick and pop with big guys like Markkanen. With the size and athleticism to match up well defensively, LaMelo's playmaking ability would help turn the Bulls into a legitimate playoff threat in 2020-2021. If LaMelo is off the board, the Bulls could go in several direction, perhaps even trading the pick if they find a suitable offer.
Signing: C Meyers Leonard, Portland Trail Blazers
The Bulls could use some depth in the frontcourt, and Leonard's range and 3-point ability make him a great player to add into a rotation that ranked in the bottom third of the league in their percentage from deep, and could potentially lose F Otto Porter if he opts out, one of their better marksmen. The question will likely be centered on how much money Leonard is aiming for, but if the numbers work, Leonard should be a serious target for Chicago.
Trade: C Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
Embiid may or may not be available, there have been reports going both ways. But if the former Jayhawk is on the block after the 76ers quick exit from the playoffs, then Chicago should be very interested in acquiring him, even if means shipping out Wendell Carter and some other assets. With Markkanen capable of spacing the floor (34.5% shooter from deep), an Embiid addition would give Chicago two versatile bigs, given Embiid's proficiency from deep as well (34.8%). But most importantly, he'd be a scoring machine that would be the focal point of a fun, versatile Bulls roster that could push into playoff contention quickly with him leading the way.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Draft Pick: F Obi Toppin, Dayton
With it almost assured that neither LaMelo Ball nor Anthony Edwards reaches Cleveland at #5, their hope should be in Toppin making his way past the Hornets and Bulls. A dynamic forward who excels in multiple facets of the game, he'd represent the best player available at this point in the draft, and an ideal addition for a talent-needy Cavaliers team. Whether replacing Kevin Love, or playing alongside him in looks, Toppin should stay in Ohio if at all possible.
Signing: F Derrick Jones Jr., Miami Heat
The Heat need cap space for upcoming extensions, so it's likely that Jones Jr, a versatile role player, will hit free agency. Cleveland is already reportedly interested, and it makes sense why. Providing quality defense on the wing, he's 23 years old, which fits Cleveland's rebuilding timeline, and should have time to round out and improve his offensive game (8.5 ppg, 28% from 3). The name of the game for the Cavs is to acquire talent, and Jones Jr. provides them with an intriguing piece with room to grow.
Trade: Moving Kevin Love for Assets
After landing a dynamic replacement for him, the Cavaliers are a team that doesn't necessarily have a specific player to target, but rather figure out what they could get for someone like Love, who shot 37% from deep last year. His salary could be problematic here, but even adding second round selections has proven useful for Cleveland (Kevin Porter Jr.).

Dallas Mavericks

Draft Pick: G Tyrese Maxey, Kentucky
Maxey may not be a lethal shooter by any means, but his defense should make him a desired player for a Mavericks team that could use a defensive stopper to pair with Luka Doncic down the role. Maxey brings athleticism, ability to finish at the rim, and a decent mid-range game to the table, which should be enough, along with his defense, to make a desirable player for Mark Cuban's Mavericks.
Signing: SF Bogdan Bogdanovic, Sacramento Kings
Limited to what they can make happen with the Mid Level Exception or in a sign-and-trade, the Mavericks should get creative and add Bogdan Bogdanovic to the roster. The 27-year old wing would fit right at home with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, a high caliber shooter, especially on catch and shoot situations. If Sacramento doesn't believe they can fit Bogdanovic in with upcoming deals for Fox and Bagley, along with Hield potentially, landing some assets in a sign-and-trade would make sense. If no sign-and-trade, perhaps a 3&D wing like James Ennis (Orlando) could be an easier fit financially.
Trade: PF Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic
Whether Kristaps Porzingis fills more time at the four or the five, finding a way to pair him and Gordon together in a frontcourt would be fun to watch. Gordon's resurgence for the Magic this past season was a large reason they managed to make it into the playoffs. His defensive versatility and 3-point ability would make him an ideal third star to pair with Luka and Kristaps.

Denver Nuggets

Draft Pick: F Jaden McDaniels, Washington
The Nuggets were patient in bringing along Michael Porter Jr., who has stepped up big time during the Bubble. And with several Nuggets wings likely to depart in free agency (Millsap, Torrey Craig), adding a high potential piece like McDaniels to develop and even rotate in behind Grant and Porter Jr. would give Denver the opportunity to take a chance on someone like McDaniels.
Signing: C Thon Maker, Detroit Pistons
If Plumlee is in fact priced out of a return to Denver, finding a suitable replacement at center will be important. While Bol Bol could claim that spot, it's not a certainty, and thus, adding a three-level scorer at the 5 would be a wise insurance policy for the Nuggets.
Trade: G Jrue Holiday, New Orleans Pelicans
A high caliber veteran on a rebuilding roster, Holiday could be a great partner to pair with Jamal Murray in the backcourt. Less costly than someone like Bradley Beal, Holiday would be a much more realistic third star to bring in. A lineup with Holiday-Murray-Porter Jr.-Nokic and whoever else you want in that fifth spot seems deadly. With Gary Harris and plenty of other assets available, the Nuggets could offer an intriguing package for Holiday.

Detroit Pistons

Draft Pick: G/F Devin Vassell, Florida State
This may break from the mock drafts a bit, which usually have the Pistons adding a point guard. However, Vassell could be an interesting piece for Detroit to select, especially considering that the top point guard in the draft (LaMelo Ball) will not likely be available for Detroit at #7 overall. Instead, Detroit adds a long 3&D piece that could fit nicely in between Luke Kennard and Sekou Doumbouya long-term. And as for a point guard. . .
Signing: PG Fred VanVleet, Toronto Raptors
Reuniting Dwane Casey and VanVleet seems like an ideal pairing, especially the major need Detroit has at point guard. With Blake Griffin still a high caliber player when healthy, adding a win-now veteran like VanVleet could perhaps boost Detroit all the way to the playoffs next season if Griffin is playing. And at 26-years old, he's both an instant impact veteran as well as a possible long-term solution at the position.
Trade: C Mo Bamba, Orlando Magic
The Pistons may have found themself something with C Christian Wood, who emerged as a quality option for them in the wake of the Drummond trade. However, Wood's emergence was a very small sample size, raising some questions over how much stock Detroit would put into it. Acquiring Bamba would give them another starting caliber option, who has proven himself as a decent player off the bench behind Vucevic if Wood does manage to build on his promising play.

Golden State Warriors:

Draft Pick: C James Wiseman, Memphis (kinda)
Should the Warriors not move this pick, Wiseman makes more sense than LaMelo Ball in terms of fit and need. Though both have questions of maturity and consistency, Wiseman's size and length would offer the Warriors a weapon they haven't really had alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. If Wiseman can fit in the frontcourt with forward Draymond Green, and Golden State makes the pick, it should be Wiseman.
Signing: PG D.J. Augustin, Orland Magic
At 32-years old, Augustin likely won't command more than any of the exceptions that Golden State would be able to muster up. However, he still can make an impact, running the Warriors second unit when Curry and Thompson (both returning from injury) need a breather. A quality shooter as well (35%), Augustin to the Warriors makes plenty of sense as they attempt to return to their place at the top of the Western Conference.
Trade: PF John Collins, Atlanta Hawks
While the Warriors seem to be another team interested in acquiring All-Star G Bradley Beal, perhaps a move for John Collins would be more feasible. The beauty for Golden State is that they would likely be able to orchestrate this trade more along the lines of a pick swap than an outright deal using their #2 selection. If the Hawks are interested in pairing Trae Young and perhaps LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards, this could the way to get there. Collins' 3-point shooting and athleticism would make him a quality fit in Golden State.

Houston Rockets

Draft Pick: - - - No Selection in Upcoming Draft - - -
The Rockets could always try buying a second round pick to add someone like C Nick Richards (Kentucky) or F Paul Eboua (Italy), but for now, they do not possess a pick.
Signing: C DeMarcus Cousins, Los Angeles Lakers
The Rockets have found success operating without a center, but should look to find a big man or two who fits alongside Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Cousins' season was derailed by injuries, but his ability to stretch the floor as well as battle big men like Davis or Jokic in the West make him an appealing option for the Rockets.
Trade: F/C Kevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers
Likely dependent on whether or not they made the signing above, the Rockets could also choose to trade for a big man to help stretch the floor. A decorated veteran, Love has plenty of experience playing with ball-handling stars, and so long as he continues to shoot a good clip from deep and rebound the ball, he'd be an invaluable piece for Houston as they attempt to win a title.

Indiana Pacers

Draft Pick: F Killian Tillie, Gonzaga
The Pacers do not posses a first round pick this year, so finding a useful rotational piece at #44 overall will be the challenge here. For the Pacers, finding a clean backup for Sabonis would be a welcome add. Tillie is a floor-stretcher at the four, hitting over 40% from deep every season at Gonzaga. Mixing him into the second unit with Doug McDermott on the wing and Gaga Bitadze at center should give the Pacers the depth they need to make a run.
Signing: G/F Kent Bazemore, Sacramento Kings
Should the Pacers decide to move Victor Oladipo before he departs in 2021 free agency, then adding a wing like Bazemore should help fill in the depth after Jeremy Lamb steps into Oladipo's spot. Bazemore saw his 3-point percentage climb after moving to Sacramento (38%), and if he's able to continue hitting at a quality rate like that, he'd be a valuable two-way wing that would be helpful for a hopeful contender like the Pacers.
Trade: G Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
The Pacers have several very intriguing pieces that they could potentially move, notably G Victor Oladipo and C Myles Turner. Should they move Oladipo, perhaps using him as the centerpiece to a Bradley Beal piece would give Indiana a shot at the player who would most likely elevate their team beyond first-round playoff exits. Swapping Oladipo for Beal should be discussed if the Wizards find themselves willing to move Beal.

Los Angeles Clippers

Draft Pick: F/C Kaleb Wesson, Ohio State
If JaMychal Green departs, finding another power forward would make sense for the Clippers to look for. Picking so late in the draft, #57 overall, limits their options in terms of finding an immediate contributor. Rather, targeting someone more developed like Wesson would be their best bet of finding a contributor, though they could easily opt for someone with more raw potential. Either way, Wesson's 3-point ability makes him an interesting option to develop into a rotational piece.
Signing: F/C Marvin Williams, Milwaukee Bucks
While the most likely signings for the Clippers will revolve around internal free agents, notably Marcus Morris and Montrezl Harrell, they still will have a bit of room for a smaller addition like Williams. If Harrell does depart, the Clippers could use another big to add to the rotation, and Marvin Williams would be a quality small ball center option for any teams looking to contend for a title, like the Clippers.
Trade: G J.J. Redick, New Orleans Pelicans
The Clippers have a very deep roster already, but Redick is exactly what you'd want to bring in to bolster your chances of winning it all. An elite, established marksmen, his shooting off the bench would be a big plus, and the defensive-minded Clippers already can compensate for him on that end of the floor. If they can make the money work, reuniting Redick and LAC would make sense as they chase a title.

Los Angeles Lakers

Draft Pick: G/F Desmond Bane, TCU
Picking at #28 overall, the Lakers would be wise to target Bane here, as his crazy 3-point rate (43%) would make him an energizing option off of the bench. The Lakers have a handful of wings as well on expiring deals, and should they lose someone like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, bringing in Bane to boost their mediocre 3-point numbers could help LeBron win another title.
Signing: C Bismack Biyombo, Charlotte Hornets
The Lakers have had DeMarcus Cousins, JaVale McGee, and Dwight Howard all on the roster in 2019-2020. McGee has an option for 2021, so the Lakers could see some turnover at the center position if any of the aforementioned don't want to run it back with LeBron and AD. If they need a new center, Biyombo's defensive chops would make him a good fit as a backup or rotational center to help the Lakers win a title.
Trade: PG Derrick Rose, Detroit Pistons
Ensuring that the Lakers can generate offense with their stars getting a breather is crucial for any contender. Derrick Rose may no longer be the star he was, but he's still a valuable piece off the bench, and would fit quite well leading the Lakers second unit, should Rajon Rondo decline his player option.

Miami Heat

Draft Pick: C Jalen Smith, Maryland
The Heat have found tons of success with Bam Adebayo at the five, but for a team as deep as Miami, bringing in a high potential big man like Jalen Smith could give them a fun piece to develop. A quality three point shooter already, ironing out his defensive inconsistencies would give the Heat a quality contributor with the #20 overall pick.
Signing: F Dario Saric, Phoenix Suns
With Adebayo more of a playmaking Energizer Bunny, bringing in another big who can play alongside Adebayo, or relieve him, would be wise. The Heat will likely focus on bringing back players from their current roster, which would likely take them out of the running for Danilo Gallinari, for example. Instead, Saric could provide the same style of play at a more affordable cost. And that's important because....
Trade: Nothing Big...for now
Miami has a claim to one of the deepest rosters in the league. Their system works and they have the financial flexibility and assets to go big game hunting. With a poor free agency market this year though, the Heat should hold tight for another season and take a shot at a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo, and then pair him (or whoever) with one of the stacked free agents on the docket (Kawhi, LeBron, Beal, Gobert, Paul, etc). Adding DeMar DeRozan right now may be tempting, but don't do it, hold tight...for now.

Milwaukee Bucks

Draft Pick: PG Devon Dotson, Kansas
With multiple guards on expiring contracts, the Bucks should aim for a guard capable of providing them minutes in the Draft. An absolute blur, Dotson is one of the most physically impressive prospects in the Draft, though he'll need to work on deep range shooting before pairing up with Giannis. For now, he'd be a fun piece to add off the bench, able to push the ball in transition opportunities.
Signing: F Joe Harris, Brooklyn Nets
With a physical freak like Giannis leading the charge, surrounding him with shooters is the best course of action, and Harris shoots incredibly well. The Bucks may need to get create to afford Harris, but if they can make the money work, they likely won't find anyone as impactful as Harris in their pursuit of an NBA title.
Trade: F Nemanja Bjelica, Sacramento Kings
Bjelica had a quality season for the Kings, and while they'd likely want to hang onto him, the Bucks should consider making a call and working something. A 6'10 big with fantastic floor stretching ability (42% from 3), he'd represent a significant upgrade from the older Ersan Ilyasova. All about adding shooters, and even relative upgrades should be considered if the Bucks can afford it.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Draft Pick: SG Anthony Edwards, Georgia
This is a fairly easy one, as the Timberwolves hold the top pick and will have their choice of player here. The most likely, and most logical, is Edwards, who would pair with D'Angelo Russell in a high upside backcourt in Minnesota. While not an elite shooter, Edwards finds plenty of ways to score, and should continue to do so in the NBA, as Russell and Karl Anthony Towns take up the most attention from opponents.
Signing: F/C Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers
The Timberwolves could give themselves a defensive boost by bringing in Harrell, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year. Whether playing the four or five, Harrell would give the Timberwolves a high intensity option that can play alongside Karl-Anthony Towns or relieving him when he's off the floor.
Trade: G/F Josh Richardson, Philadelphia 76ers
If the 76ers do enter a fire-sale, the Timberwolves should put in a call for two-way wing Josh Richardson. Still only 26-years old, Richardson has plenty of upside for a relatively young team like the Timberwolves. Adding him to the mix would give them another capable weapon around their stars.

New Orleans Pelicans

Draft Pick: F Aaron Nesmith, Vanderbilt
A 3-point marksman to fill in on the wings would be the exactly the type of player to put around a playmaker like Zion Williamson. Nesmith's large wingspan (6'10) would be an asset as he develops into a top two-way wing, and doing so in New Orleans would be an excellent move for the Pelicans to pursue with the #13 overall selection.
Signing: PG Austin Rivers, Houston Rockets
If the Pelicans look to accumulate assets by moving Lonzo Ball or Jrue Holiday, than bringing a quality shooting point guard makes a lot of sense. Rivers shot 36% on 4 attempts per game in Houston, and showed the ability to play with more ball-dominant players in Russell Westbrook and James Harden, which would suit him well in a lineup featuring Zion Williamson. And at 28 years old, Rivers still has plenty of good years left in him as the Pelicans work towards contending status.
Trade: Whatever Assets They Can Get From Redick or Holiday
The Pelicans don't bring a specific target to mind, but rather as a team who should aim to accumulate assets. Gathering picks or promising young players would position them well to make a move for a bigger superstar down the road, one who, paired with Zion Williamson, would propel them into championship contention. And with both Redick and Jrue Holiday in town, the Pelicans have some intriguing pieces to dangle for teams looking to win now.

New York Knicks

Draft Pick: PG Tyrese Haliburton, Iowa State
Unless the Knicks trade up to acquire PG LaMelo Ball (which they are reportedly looking at), the Knicks should feel comfortable picking the best guard on the board at #8 overall, as there are several quality options. Haliburton, however, is the ideal target here, as he's a high IQ player with a good 3-point shot and excellent defense, he would fit Thibodeau's style pretty well, and presents less of a risk than Cole Anthony or Killian Hayes for example.
Signing: F Danilo Gallinari, Oklahoma City Thunder
With Mitchell Robinson not a shooting threat in the slightest, the Knicks should target someone who can stretch the floor from the four position. The best name available there is OKC's Danilo Gallinari, who nearly went to the Heat, but now is a free agent. Whoever the Knicks end up with at point guard will be well-aided by the floor stretching capacity of Gallinari, a 40% shooter the past two seasons.
Trade: PG Chris Paul, Oklahoma City Thunder
Another name out of OKC, the Knicks should feel no issues drafting a point guard and trading for Chris Paul. First and foremost, the Knicks need to rebuild a winning culture, and bringing in Paul and Tom Thibodeau are good first steps towards that end. Likewise, even if the Knicks do select a point guard in the draft, Paul has shown himself quite adept at sharing the floor with other ball-handlers, like he did in Houston with James Harden, and as he did this past year in OKC with Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Dennis Schroeder. A great leader, player and mentor, Paul would help the Knicks build the right environment to end their playoff drought.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Draft Pick: C Isaiah Stewart, Washington
If the Thunder move Chris Paul and Danilo Gallinari walks, they could be in for a rebuild. Stewart may be raw and underdeveloped offensively, but at 19-years old, he has time to develop his offensive game. Meanwhile, his wingspan, strength and motor give him major upside as a defensive stopper in the post. With Nerlens Noel potentially departing OKC, there could even be minutes for Stewart to step into as a rookie and get his feet wet.
Signing: F Otto Porter, Chicago Bulls
The Thunder could possibly be losing their best shooter (Gallinari) and their best defender (Roberson). Finding someone who can provide a little bit of both could work for them, with Porter shooting 38% last year in Chicago. An easy fit in between OKC's high powered guard duo and center Steven Adams, Porter could serve as either a reinforcement for another playoff run, or a piece with some long-term upside.
Trade: F Nemanja Bjelica, Sacramento Kings
If the Thunder aren't able to retain Danilo Gallinari, perhaps bringing in Bjelica could give them a similar styled replacement. As mentioned already, Bjelica is a floor stretching forward (42% clip) that would put another dangerous shooter around Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous Alexander.

Orlando Magic

Draft Pick: G Theo Maledon, France
The Magic need someone to boost their struggling offense, and Maledon's craftiness as a ball-handler and off-ball shooting ability (37% from deep) should peak the Magic's interest. While Markelle Fultz has rebuilt himself into a potential long-term point guard, Maledon should seamlessly fit in next to him, and even provide minutes backing him up when Fultz heads to the bench.
Signing: G Wesley Matthews, Milwaukee Bucks
If Evan Fournier opts in, the Magic won't have the money to add bigger names, but Matthews would fit in well after finding a role as a rotational two-way guard. And even if the Magic do see Fournier depart elsewhere, Matthews' veteran experience could help their young core figure things out.
Trade: G/F Caris LeVert, Brooklyn Nets
If the Nets have interest in bringing in Aaron Gordon to add to the Irving-Durant duo, the Magic should be intent on getting Caris LeVert shipped to them as part of the deal. Only 26 years old, Levert averaged 19 points per game while fueling a KD-less Nets team to the playoffs. A young core of Fultz, Levert, Isaac, and Bamba is a group that you can build around.

Philadelphia 76ers

Draft Pick: G Cassius Stanley, Duke
The 76ers could use guards and shooting, and with limited financial flexibility, may need to find it in the NBA Draft. Thus, Stanley to Philly, where his elite athleticism and quality range (36%), would be a welcome addition to the 76ers. If he's still on the board at #21 overall, Stanley would make plenty of sense for the 76ers.
Signing: PG Goran Dragic, Miami Heat
The 76ers management has said they intend to keep Simmons and Embiid together, but if they don't keep that intention, bringing in Dragic to run the offense could be the move to make. Still productive for the Heat at 33-years old, Dragic would likely pair with Embiid better than Simmons did, as indicated by his shooting ability (37%).
Trade: PG Chris Paul, Oklahoma City Thunder
Breaking the mold here, should the 76ers decide to move Simmons, but not bring in Dragic, perhaps a bigger move would solve the question better. While the Knicks are the one most often linked to a move for Paul, the 76ers may want to consider adding the veteran PG to the mix, especially if they decide to breakup the Simmons-Embiid duo, and ship Ben Simmons out. Paul's veteran experience and versatile game should make him a much better sidekick for Embiid than Simmons managed to be.

Phoenix Suns

Draft Pick: PG Kira Lewis Jr., Alabama
The Suns needs someone in the backcourt, preferably someone who can work with Devin Booker, and run the offense when he's off the floor. That someone could be Lewis Jr., who averaged 19 points per game at Alabama and was able to knock down over 36% of his threes over two seasons. Finding a quality playmaker to carry the load could give them the breakthrough they need.
Sigining: F Moe Harkless, Los Angeles Clippers
Current starting wing Mikal Bridges was a solid compliment to Booker and Ayton this past season, but adding some more depth, especially a defensive geared piece, would give the Suns some switchy wings who can help them slow opponents down in the playoffs next year. Harkless will be a fairly cheap way of doing so.
Trade: F Lauri Markkanen, Chicago Bulls
Putting Markkanen in an offense led by Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton could give him the space he needs to regain some of the production he had earlier in Chicago. Able to shoot off the pick-and-pop, Markkanen won't need to crowd in on Ayton to be an effective piece to the Suns offense.

Portland Trail Blazers

Draft Pick: F Saddiq Bey, Villanova
With two picks in the first round (16 and 29), the Blazers will have the flexibility to fill multiple needs with the most talented players on the board. For that first selection, Bey would be a quality addition, giving the Blazers wing defense and reliable shooting. A second team unit featuring Trent, Little and Bey would be very versatile. Then, with that second first rounder, targeting a big man like Jalen Smith would be a quality Draft for the Blazers.
Signing: C Mason Plumlee, Denver Nuggets
With Hassan Whiteside hitting free agency, it's likely the Blazers could find themselves in need of a backup center if Whiteside is unwilling to accept a role as a backup. Thus, Mason Plumlee could be an option, as a veteran big with a quality motor who has been a serviceable option for Denver. Plumlee may not fill up the stat sheet, but in Game 6 of the Playoffs, made a direct impact for Denver with a handful of offensive rebounds and high energy. That kind of team player who work well for the Blazers rotation.
Trade: PG Patty Mills, San Antonio Spurs.
The Blazers have a quality starting lineup with Lillard-McCollum-Ariza-Collins/Melo-Nurkic. What they still could use is a backup point guard to help generate some points when Lillard takes a breather. Perhaps swinging a deal to bring in Patty Mills to an actual contender would be a good match. Mills currently backups Dejounte Murray in San Antonio, but his quality production and veteran leadership could be a boost for the Blazers.

Sacramento Kings

Draft Pick: G/F Devin Vassell, Florida State
With De'Aaron Fox running the point, the Kings need to surround him with shooters like Vassell. A 6'10 wingspan and 42% clip from deep, Vassell would be an ideal fit on the wing, and could help the Kings make the push into the playoffs by bolstering their offense and defense.
Signing: F Jerami Grant, Denver Nuggets
If Grant opts out of his deal in Denver, he'd give the Kings a two-way option at the 3 or 4, an excellent depth addition to add in rotation with Jabari Parker, Bjelica, and Harrison Barnes. And of course, important to note when playing with De'Aaron Fox, Grant has a quality shot from deep, hitting 39% for the Nuggets this season.
Trade: F Kyle Kuzma, Los Angeles Lakers
If the Kings are moving G Buddy Hield, then perhaps he could interest the Lakers, who would likely want to acquire a more high profile guard to compliment LeBron and Davis. Thus, a move for Kuzma could be in play, as he'd give the Kings a versatile wing to pair with Harrison Barnes. Kuzma would also compromise a promising young trio along with De'Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III.

San Antonio Spurs

Draft Pick: F Deni Avdija, Israel
If there's any team that should be angling to move up should Avdija slide, the Spurs would likely be one of them. An excellent distributing big wing, capable of giving the Spurs minutes at the 4, Avdija seems like a tailor made fit for a Gregg Popovich offensive system. Between his schematic fit and his upside, he'd be the ideal player for the Spurs to come away with on Draft day.
Signing: F/C Bobby Portis, New York Knicks
Portis has plenty of upside if he can get straightened out, and if anyone is going to get the most out of Portis and teach him to play in a system, it's Gregg Popovich. If he succeeds, the Spurs find themselves with an offensive forward who can score in multiple ways, or even another trade piece if they want to sell high. Either way, taking a gamble on Portis could pay off for a program needing a new direction.
Trade: As Many Picks as They Can Get
The Spurs run is over for now. They did well to bring in some fun pieces in the Kawhi trade, but the Spurs need to enter a rebuild or risk an extended play in no man's land. Selling on DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, Patrick Mills, and Marco Belinelli should be the aim. Get picks, get promising young players, and set yourself up to rebuild quickly. If one of these guys can even help you move up and select Avdija, do it.

Toronto Raptors

Draft Pick: F Robert Woodard II, Mississippi State
An athletic forward with a good build, Woodard could be a steal if Toronto is able to land him at #29 overall. After taking a major leap in between his freshman year and sophomore year, Woodard developed an outside shot (43%). For a team that may not be able to retain Serge Ibaka, finding another big to provide some range on the outside would give them a quality replacement.
Signing: PG Austin Rivers, Houston Rockets
Should Toronto be unable to retain Fred VanVleet, finding a guard capable of picking up minutes at point guard and shooting guard would serve them well. Rivers may not the same caliber of VanVleet, but can provide the versatility needed, along with a quality enough shot from deep (36% in 2019-2020).
Trade: SG Luke Kennard, Detroit Pistons
Thinking outside the box here, if the Raptors aren't comfortable paying VanVleet the rate it'd take to retain him, perhaps a sign-and-trade for a team like Detroit could send them back something useful, rather than letting VanVleet walk entirely. A sharp shooting guard (40% over his career, Kennard could fit well in Toronto, either as a long-term solution, or a piece to flip as part of a package at the deadline for a bigger star post-Kawhi.

Utah Jazz

Draft Pick: C Aleksej Pokusevski, Serbia
A unicorn big-man, Pokusevski is a mobile center with fantastic height (7'0) and the ability to knock down shots beyond the arc (32% shooter). While he'll need to get bigger (only 205 lbs and lanky), he's still very young and should be able to develop into a starting caliber player down the road. And selecting at #23 overall, that's really what you're looking for.
Signing: G Langston Galloway, Detroit Pistons
While the main signing priorities for Utah will be re-signing Jordan Clarkson and extending Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz could also look to add another guard into the rotation, and Galloway's versatility and shooting make him an easy player to fit into any rotation.
Trade: PG Dennis Smith Jr., New York Knicks
The Jazz would have some quality offers if they did move C Rudy Gobert. But assuming they keep Gobert, the Jazz target someone to give their second unit a boost, especially as an aging Mike Conley drops off from the All-Star player he was. Smith looked much better earlier in his career, averaging around 15 points per game through his first three seasons. If he can recapture that, he could even play his way into the direct replacement for Conley.

Washington Wizards

Draft Pick: F Isaac Okoro, Auburn
This one makes more sense than a lot of these other picks, in my opinion. The Wizards are horrendous on the defensive end, and Okoro is the best wing defender in this year's Draft. Being able to lock up opposing team's top scorer will allow Beal and Wall to go to work on the offensive end, lightening their load a good deal.
Signing: F Moe Harkless, Los Angeles Clippers
Bringing in one defensive minded rookie won't solve the defensive woes of the Wizards. With not a ton of cap flexibility, the Wizards should aim for someone relatively cheap, who can fill a clear role, and help develop young players like Rui Hachimura. That someone would likely be Moe Harkless.
Trade: The Biggest Haul They Can Get for Beal
I know the Wizards have said they want to see what Beal and Wall can do next season, rather than moving Beal now. But I personally think that's a mistake, and that cashing in on Beal, and getting a jump start on the rebuild is the way to go. The Wall-Beal duo didn't accomplish anything before Wall tore his Achilles, and the longer they wait, the more likely they get screwed over. If they can land two of Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, or Jarrett Allen from the Nets, I think that would be the best package, but the aim is less so a specific target than just hoard what they can get.

Anyways, this took a little while to put together, so I hope you don't totally hate it. Let me know if you agree, disagree, think someone would fit better!
