The five core safer gambling Commitments are targeted to: Prevent underage gambling and protect young people; Increase support for treatment of gambling harm; Strengthen and expand codes of practice for advertising and marketing; Protect and empower our customers and; Promote a culture of safer gambling. The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has launched a new multimedia safer gambling campaign which will support the group’s Safer Gambling Commitments launched in November 2019.. The campaign, which will be rolled out via a series of 20-second digital films and associated content, will be tailored towards men between the ages of 18-34 who ‘might be at risk of overindulging during the festive review of VIP programmes as part of the Safer Gambling Commitments. This will form the basis of a new industry Code of Conduct which will be adopted by the BGC with a view to measures being ultimately incorporated as a requirement of the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), as set out by the UK Gambling Commission. CONTEXT The BGC has been formed through a merger with the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB) and the Remote Gambling Association (RGA).
