Pickup hum but no signal.

I'm fixing an Epiphone Casino for someone right now. The bridge pickup was not working so I fished out all the electronics and there was a broken wire on the volume pot for that pickup. Rewired it and inspected the circuit with a meter and it seems intact. The pickup now just hums when I test it and the volume of the humming goes up and down with the volume but if you strike a string you get no signal. Should I reflow everything or start looking for bad components? Any advice would be helpful thanks!

Solid body VS Semi-Hollow? [GEAR]

I've been thinking of getting a new guitar for my birthday. Currently, my choices are:
  1. Gretsch Streamliner g2622T https://thomann.de/gb/gretsch_g2622t_tg_streamliner_455373.htm
2.Gretsch G5425 Jet Club https://thomann.de/gb/gretsch_g5425_jet_club_black.htm
3.Squier Contemporary Telecaster https://thomann.de/gb/fender_sq_contemporary_tele_hh_dmr.htm
4.Epiphone Casino Coupe https://thomann.de/gb/epiphone_casino_coupe_ch.htm
The Streamliner is a semi hollow guitar, while the Casino coupe is fully hollow. The other two are solid bodies.
I do prefer the look of semi hollow and hollow bodies more than solid bodies. However, it's not a strong preference. I'm also somewhat of a frequent traveller, so it would be nice to have a lighter and more portable guitar, though it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had a heavy guitar. I usually play jazzier and softer genres, I do play heavier stuff on occasion but it's not my main focus. Because of that, I would probably go for the Gretsch myself.
A tremolo system would be a nice addition, but it is not something I need.
However, I did test all of the guitars I listed above recently. I could not really pick out which one I liked the most and I'm hoping that you guys could help me out on this one. Thanks!

[GEAR] Epiphone Casino sounds bad, but I don’t want to sell it.

My Epiphone Casino sound really muddy and too bright at the same time. I’ve tried raising and lowering the pole pieces, raising and lowering the action, tried multiple different amps and it sounds bad through all of them. I have tried other casinos and they sound clear and not at all muddy. Any suggestions?
Update: I tested the resistance in my pickups and it was 12 in the neck and 11 in the bridge. I probably just need new pickups, but for the next few days I’ll be considering whether or not I want to go through all the trouble it takes to get pickups that fit the casino, or just sell it off and buy something else. Thank you so much for all your suggestions.
Update 2: I have decided not to sell it but to replace the electronics and pickups. I tested the pickups resistance and it’s a little hot which would explain the muddiness. I’m just not sure what pickups to go with. In doing research I found that virtually no pickups are going to fit my guitar right off the bat because casinos have a weird spacing. I really like the idea of Duncan antiquity p90s because every pick up I’ve ever loved has had alnico 2 magnets in them and these are some of the few with alnico 2’s. But then Lollar is intriguing because I can just send in my old pickups and he’ll rewind it. Last thing I’m curious about is how hard it would be to test my new pickups with plastic vs metal cover. I’m not sure which I want to go with. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Attention: Guitar players

I'm not very knowledgeable about guitars, so I need some advice. I also think (and I will respect if the mods don't agree) that the best people to ask will be Radiohead fans.
Last year I got myself an Epiphone Casino and I love it; I play mostly to back up my vocals but I'm alright at what I do. The guitar tone I'm looking for is unabashedly Thom's tone, particularly his guitar work on Stuck Together Pieces, Reckoner, Before Your Very Eyes..., and his part (not Jonny's) in Present Tense.
Now a guitar is all well and good but I need an amp. What sort of amp do I want? The demos on youtube are all demonstrating what they can do with ugly, brash "music store licks" and I'm not that sort of player, I'm looking for a more mellow tone. Do I need a pedal for extra (but subtle) crunch?
Thanks to my tax return I'm considering a Fender Vibrolux Reverb, but is that a wise decision? The music stores in town where I might be able to test amps are intimidating (more intimidating, in fact, than playing live, because damn it, they KNOW I'm a poser).
Bonus question: how the hell even do I describe the style/tone in the songs above (particularly Stuck Together Pieces)? I tried to describe it when I was buying the guitar (to see if they had any suggestions) and the people at the store had no clue what I was talking about.
That may be the case here, too. But thank you for reading, and I will appreciate very much any help you can give on the matter! <3

30 minutes in Guitar Center spoiled me.

I went in on a whim just to take a look at their used pedals, ended up testing out some electro harmonix pedals and a blues driver while playing on an epiphone casino hollow body plugged into a vox amp. I've never sounded so good and this poor kid thought he had a sell. Even tried to get me to apply for a credit card, but his manager told him no after I said I didn't want to run an inquiry on my fragile credit. Went home empty handed because I don't have extra cash to spend on guitar stuff at the moment. Now I'm bummed because I'm picking around on my old samick ran through my dinky crate amp sounding like a hobo.

Would a heavy amount of feedback in one jam session effect the sound of a tube amp?

I have a Vox AC15 and an Epiphone Casino. AC15s aren't really good with distortion and neither is a fully hollow guitar. But a friend of mine decided to increase the drive of my distortion pedal all the way up resulting in ridiculous amounts of feedback. I played a little bit after he left and the amp sounded very grimy/muddy when it's supposed to be very bright/clean. Now, I'm not all that certain if I'm just being paranoid and that I've just planted a placebo in my head about the situation (which I will test once I get home). But I must ask you guys to be safe; will all that feedback result in messed up tubes?

Been playing acoustic for a few years and looking at my first electric. Any advice?

I've been learning on an acoustic for the past three years and I'm feeling just about ready get myself an electric. I've been browsing around this past week or so, preliminarily researching and testing, and I've narrowed my search down to three. The price range I'm going for is about $400-$600.
Squire J5 Telecaster
Ephiphone Les Paul
Epiphone Casino
Would anyone have any advice they'd like to dole out? Perhaps you've had a particularly good/bad experience with one of these models or ones like them? Is there something really good in that price range that I might have missed that's worth considering? Any tidbits, stray facts, or anecdotes are appreciated.
